Here is another video of Helen Reddy singing her first single, "I Don't Know How to Love Him." This song was originally sung by Yvonne Elliman in the movie "Jesus Christ Superstar"; however, Helen had the bigger hit with it.

Probably one of the most powerful, unique voices of the last 50 years as a woman. Amazing, and her songs meant so much to us in those formative years. Love her.

As a male teenager in the 70's it was very uncool to admit liking Helen Reddy. I always found (most) of her songs very appealing. It's great to hear them again with full appreciation.

As a female teenager in 70s, I understood it was only acceptable to listen to guy bands from your point of view.

Never appreciated her when I was a preteen in the 70's. Never had heard this song.this song has led me to fully appreciate the genius of Helen Reddy. The best female vocalist of all time. David Cassidy was the best male vocalist( also an amazing songwriter a no joke,a more talented guitarist than jimihendri,Santana,Eric Clapton combined)Two criminally underrated singers of all time.
In case anyone would like to hear what we were missing while we were forced to listen to TupacJanet Jackson&Britney Spears; he released this remake of Walk away ,Renee.

Karen Carpenter was way better. Helen really only had maybe 2 decent songs, this being her best. The Carpenters had more (and better) songs and Karen's "Superstar" was surperb.

When this came out, we were all so "tired" of hearing her voice on this and other songs at the time. But now that time has passed and looking back at this, this shows she really did have not only a powerful voice but sang with a very calm and controlled demeanor like a true professional.

Mary Magalene sings this in "Jesus Christ Superstar" after she calms Jesus down and He falls asleep in her lap. This is one of the few songs that I like from this musical. There are quite a few differences from this interpretation and in The Bible itself. In The Bible, it was Martha and Lazarus' sister, Mary, who anointed Jesus with perfume. This is not mentioned in the musical, and another disappointing thing is, that they ended with the crucifixion and not the resurrection. Those are the only two things I don't like about the way Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Sir Tim Rice interpreted the Easter story in The Bible. I saw the play years ago with my parents, and I remember when they bought out Jesus on the cross, and when the actors dropped the cross on that stage, everyone in the theater jumped! Lol! We were in the front row.
