Here is Helen singing her very first hit record "I Don't Know How to Love Him". This tune reached No. 13 on the Hot 100 in 1971. Enjoy!
This woman! WOW! An amazing voice and such a natural beauty.
Miss you Helen, a class act
Oh My. Where have the 50 years gone? Wish I knew then how precious the 70's were.
Who cares, look what we lived. you want to start again now? No me, we lived in an erra that had some extraordinary talent..
Regardless of what others say, I agree!✌️
I knew how precious it was at the time. I'd go lay on a bank and think about it. Cheers QuGee baby.
We knew how precious the 50s 60s and the 70s were
I did know.
Rip Helen. Love from my high school memories
There would be no 70's without this awesome voice - RIP Helen Reddy!
What a beautiful song sung by the amazing Helen Reddy! ❤
Amazing song. Beautiful singer. RiP. 😔💚
Rip.....u were an awesome woman

Everytime i listen to Helen brings tears.
I had hopes of seeing one of her concerts that she performed as an older woman. She was fine it seemed, next thing I heard she had died.
Enjoy your heavenly peace pretty lady. We loved your music. Thanks for the great memories.
One of the truly great women. Love Forever.
Just miss your voice so so so much
😢😢😢😢😢😢
Helen had such a unique voice that was hard to replicate. Definitely one of a kind. May she rest in peace.
R.I.P. Helen...thanks for the music!
RIP Ms. Reddy. Thank you. Safe journey.
This is the first time I hear this song. Amazing
Can we go back, oh how I want to go back....
I'd go back in a heartbeat
Helen Reddy, Karen Carpenter, Barbra Streisand, Roberta Flack, Gladys Knight - all unbelievable woman singers of the 1970s - talented, intelligent, beautiful
And Liza Minnelli, Donna Summer, Diana Ross and Aretha.
This song gives me goosebumps. I remember hearing it during my teens and crooning this song with my sisters and friends.
you forgot Judith Durham
CARLY SIMON - JONI MITCHELL - CAROLE KING !!!!!
Joan Armatrading
Beautiful woman and voice. RIP.
She knows how to love Him now.
Beautiful comment...thank you!
Thanks for a reminder of this legend, who also did some great acting (Pete's Dragon, Airplane) but was just left off the Oscars In Memoriam tribute. They too busy bashing cops and making racist drama and bad feelings to worry about our Helen. R>I>P
I found Helen Reddy because of this song... Very beautiful voice... The best version of this song... Touched me with the love of Jesus to humankind. I don't know that she was a great singer of the 70's... May your soul find love & peace on Jesus' heart beautiful lady. RIP Helen Reddy.
RIP and thank you!
Helen Reddy's voice was utterly unique. Thanks for putting this out here.
Loved your music. RIP
No T&A. No fireworks. Just a strong voice singing
Lower Your Expectations - T & A are present mate.
“She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and a truly formidable woman. Our hearts are broken. But we take comfort in the knowledge that her voice will live on forever.”
Yes agree master of her Craft RIP Helen Reddy
I revisited this video after learning of her passing, first saw this 2 years ago. I had heard the song on the radio when I was in high school but didn't think much of it. I happened on this performance by chance and I was mesmerized at how effortlessly powerful her voice was and how stunningly beautiful she was, I fell in love with her. I've watched/listened to this video dozens of times and I am rapt every time. I went on to learn what a women's right champ she was, a truly amazing woman
That was a beautiful way to remember her.
I sang her songs in my bedroom as a first grader...memorized every word. ❤️
She was my favorite female vocalist growing up. My first album on my first very own record player. RIP.
This is just about one of the most beautiful vocal performances ever.
I agree!!!
@@tommyv8777 agnetha falstkog version also
Sings so simply beautiful
I agree , such a beautiful voice and natural beauty
Yes, but you're hearing the studio album version. She's miming. Still she's a very good vocalist.
Not sure many people realize how many great songs she had...beautiful voice, brings back many memories 🎼💖
Indeed. Everyone should have her Greatest Hits collection.
Agree. Another great album is "Live In London. A lot of great songs on that album as well as a medley of the greatest hits.
I literally cannot help but cry when I hear her sing. Her voice is powerful and pure, her delivery incredibly poised. A voice that takes me right back to my childhood. My mother had my hair cut like this back then. They called it a "shag" and not like Austin Powers used the word. 😊
R.I.P. Wonderful Woman................
Helen’s voice was a part of my childhood...Her music will forever define the 70’s. Rest in Peace Helen...🙏
What a GREAT Voice!!!!
This song makes me cry. The lyrics, her voice, and what it represents. The fantastic film it's from.😢
I went to the movies two days in a row. Great big screen production for its time.
Jesus
2025. ❤
Heaven just got an angel. RIP ms Reddy. Thak you for the music you've left us
RIP Helen Reddy
Your name your songs will be forever
My mom gave me her 45's from when she was younger and this was one in the collection. I'm in my 40's and so grateful she shared music that I think is timeless.
Let's remember Helen Reddy just like she was here. RIP. Thank you for the music.
Empathy, very rare in any song.....with her voice, just wonderful////Thanks Helen
RIP, so many loved your music
In my opinion this was always hands down the best version of this song ever......there is something so incredibly touching about it because she never tries to overpower the song, and this version always moved me the most for that reason. What a unique and superb singer she was.
She had some power but her voice was too whiny for me.
Beautiful version of this ,you are totally spot on , incredible talented lady
@@harrychristie5392 I always thought too she did by far the best version of this song also her voice was always Christa clear!!
@@shelleyklukiewicz9545 I just read her bio, she was nervous when she sang this song, which was PERFECT for the song's mood!
I agree! The best version! Yvonne Elimans version was very moving in Jesus Christ Superstar, but I love Helens performance overall! Rest in peace. Thank you for all the beautiful songs, you will always be remembered.🙏🎼🎶🎹❤
Beautiful
Love her music
To me....one of the top 5 female pop singers. She had such a great sound. Unique.
Tbe most beautiful face i have ever seen. And that perfectly controlled perfect pitch voice.
Yeah she had a good voice and control. Though you realize this is not sung live.
@@Frip36 No, she's really singing there.
@@kumaranvij I'll recheck. If you're right she's remarkable.
@@kumaranvij I listened again and I'm going to go with Memorex. I'll listen to the album version now and get back to you. One sec.
Sorry Kumar. No dice. I just played them on top of each other. They're identical.
@@Frip36 OK.
Absolutely gorgeous, we'll remember Helen as long as we live.
Absolutely gorgeous amazing Beautiful
Bravo! Love Helen Reddy. NO bells or whistles. Just pure talent. RIP Aussie Girl ❤️❤️❤️
Why are songs back then wayyyyyy more beautiful than the songs we have today? Why???
Because it written, composed and sung with pure spirit . . . ?
Because music execs these days are stupid,
The evil corporations have their tentacles and testicles in every human activity.
They have ruined sports, movies, other arts, and now are threatening academia and uniqueness of towns.
Their collective narcissism and psychopathy is ruining everything.
Because now a days every one is turning to alcohol and drugs and it changes people. That is why music is different than before.
@@softroseforyou7457 don’t think so,it’s not substance abuse a lot of the great music of the sixties was drug influenced,Lennon was a big acid head for awhile,a lot of others
I haven't heard this song in decades. But I do remember how powerfully and perfectly she sang this song.
Her voice is incredibly beautiful...but also so very unique. When you hear her sing you know instantly who it is.
It's her Australian accent.
I'm sure there are women who are average folks with beautiful singing voices who never had the opportunity or luck to hit the big time.
@@@piustwelfth It is... I "nivah thawht she hed wahn win Oi wahz yahng, bit she dahz" This is good, because I am so tired of people (either in jest or malice) say "Americans must have the best accent [which is strange because there are at LEAST 12 regional American and Canadian accents], since everyone sings like this", "but she does have a "wigh" of doing her native "eksint" without her being too "hahsh" with "eet". There have been a few other artists who have done this, like the "Goodies" (from Tennessee), "Petula Clark" (from the UK), Brenda Lee (from Georgia, US), and "the Easybeats" (also from Australia). Something like this happens in the UK, too (I've already mentioned some internationals stars, but people from Liverpool sort of sing in a "Scouse" accent, where "peanut" comes out like "penis"and "mother" comes out as "muzzah" (such as Cilla Black and yes, the Beatles).
Stunningly beautiful woman with the voice of an angel
Why do we have to get old?
Thank you for all you did for us. Rest in Peace.
Great song by a great singer.
I love this song.
This is one of Helen Reddy's best. It takes me back to a sunny morning in 1971.... her sweet voice on the radio as I drove through rural area of Bauhinia Downs in central Queensland, Australia. RIP hon, now you're showing the angels how to sing. Thanks for the memories.
Did you shout along in your Range Rover to "I am woman hear me roar."
She sings as an Angel speaking… and feels every word she pronounces.
I just watched the preview of I AM WOMAN on Netflix and had to seek on RUclips for anything with her.
I recognized her voice as “the” voice that has the power to make me cry since I was a small girl in the 70’s!!
Now that I’m leaning Who she was and What was she standing for in our evolutionary history through music, I am understanding Why it would make my soul weep every time ✨
Incredible talent! And as an 18 year old in 1973 we were blessed with the most amazing music of all time!
I love this version with Helen Reddy
Another iconic female (Australian) voice!!! RIP Helen Reddy and Judith Durham.
i hear this song on Sundays. Nice to listen to this song while doing house chores
Have not heard this song for many years and instantly brings a tear to my eyes listening to her voice and the song. Wow , transports me back to being a kid being with my late parents and enjoying life to the fullest. How i wish i could go back to them days just for 5 minutes. Didn't realise and appreciate what a wonderful voice she had back then.
I didn't either. I was about 7 years old,but still appreciated other less talented vocalists. It's upsetting to realize that the media dictated our reality. I wonder how many other Helen Reddy's and David Cassidy's(my favorite)there were who we never heard sing. I also don't understand why she wasn't given more of these kinds of beautiful songs to match he angelic voice instead of many of her other songs which I'm not crazy about. David Cassidy was another underrated artist after his initial teen idol fame. He was dismissed as a former teen idol and never was allowed to regain and not taken seriously despite being a gifted singer guitarist and song writer, even though he continued to record both renditions and original songs long after his early 70's fame.He recorded a rendition of Walk Away Renee, released on an album in 2003.

Yes! So hard to believe these songs are this old. Oh to go back...
Me, too. I was a kid then too and miss it so much sometimes. And she was just another singer I liked then but I didn't realize how good she was.
@Peter Evans lol
I understand exactly what you said... brings back memories... all the great songs do.. Reddy was an exceptionally gifted vocalist
So beautiful........
Can't imagine anyone else singing this classic song. Helen's voice is so unique and beautiful!
Petula Clarke had a pretty amazing version
Stunning. Humbling.
Nostalgia at its best!
One of my favorites of all time. Beautiful Delivery Helen.
RIP Helen Reddy
Helen Reddy, singer behind feminist anthem 'I Am Woman,' dies at 78 . September 29, 2020
Rest in peace my dear idol....
@@elainerose4750 Was a kid in the 70's so didn't know how I Am Woman affected so many women until later on but loved all her songs. I get it now. Yes, RIP to an idol and truly underrated talent.
im am starting to hate bday, barry denin died on it an so many die around this time
A great singer, a great person RIP Helen
A great singer with a unique style. My favorite female singer of the 70's and one of my favorites of all-time!
You will live forever Helen Reddy! Thank you for your beautiful voice!
She hits the high notes with ease. Beautiful voice. RIP, Helen.
I love this song I’d forgotten how beautiful this song is we could do with more of the music back that’s been forgotten it’s much better than what’s played now
I feel so richly blessed to have grown up in the 70’s with the epic music weaving the fabric of my being.
Same here! If God asked me what Decade would I like to be brought back to, I'd say he 70's my Lord!
Amen to that!
IKR 😊
This is a REAL performance. The vocal is wonderful, of course. But, each subtle expression and nuance...masterful. There are just hints of cynicism, then an opening for vulnerability. She sings it as though it's the first time, and each word/idea is extemporaneous. It's both humbling and edifying to watch. Thank you for the gift, Helen Reddy.
In the 1974 era Helen was HUGELY popular; kids today don't realize just what a music giant she was
Wonderful. Simply wonderful.
Beautiful, simple as that.
It's absolutely incredible how much great music came out in the 60s and 70s , the artists were incredibly talented,
Ms Reddy was a strong independent woman who earned every accolade and award she received.
A career of talent and hard work.
I rarely long for the good old days, because I'm so blessed with my kids and grandchildren, however, as messy as the 60s and 70s were in some ways, the American people were a very honorable and hardworking population,
I thank my Lord for the gift of life, it's been a great ride
Ah, her voice and her singing of this song are now part of the very fabric of the universe. I love you, Ms. Reddy!
Undoubtedly the absolute best version of this song ever!
she was a great singer and this is one of her best.
Agree
this was her best.
This is the first time I have heard Helen Reddy sing this song.
The clarity and essence her voice gives the song a special meaning.
Helen Reddy seems to be forgotten by many. But not me any longer!
I only hope others have the chance to hear her sing.
Yes, she asked the right question "What's it all about" when your heart and soul becomes so overwhelmingly captivated by God's personal love for you. His love is a 'game' changer and more so a life changer. You will be changed forever, and a relationship you were designed for from the beginning of time unfolds. Trust Him. He loves you so much!
Yes, He does! I can honestly say that Jesus is my BFF. Someday I will meet Him face to face and be reunited with my loved ones.
I ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ YOU, JESUS!
@@Catlover2016 THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!!!!!😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

She was such a wonderful singer. Probably my favourite version of the song.
Hi Susan hope you're okay?
Helen was so down to earth. In her retirement she gave everything away, lived in a condo and enjoyed reading books.. so grounded and humble
Those EYES, my GOD! She's astonishingly Beautiful, with a voice to match!
+retrorex Born in Melbourne she's Australian :)
retrorex My sentiments exactly!
Wowww,.. That's ALL I can say!
Amen brother . I am 61 and looking back at this video clip I see and hear more now then I did the first time around . What a special time and era .
retrorex AND TO THINK SHE CAME TO OUR COUNTRY WITH JUST 200 DOLLARS. TO THINK OF HER WITH DEMENTIA NOW IS VERY SAD.
Yep - what a face and voice! Heard this by ABBA's singer Agnista Faltskag if that is spelled correctly when she was a young girl and have always loved this song!!
God bless you!! 🙏🙏🙏
Pete’s Dragon is still my favorite childhood movies. Thank you for making that movie so magical and being a character of love.
What did she play in Pete's Dragon?
Lovely Voice Lovely Lady❤🙏😇
...I am absolutely FLOORED by Helen's passing... I, a 58-year-Old Gay Man, always came to watch her perform this MONTHLY, on this channel, because not only of the title, but, of the PERFORMANCE; She sings this with tender wonderment; A Young Lady, embarking on WOMANHOOD, because of the Introspective inner feelings that are going to bring her over the threshold...she's 'loved so many Men before', but this one, will CHANGE Her...
...As much as Helen's Music changed ME. Let's hope that Helen gets the final accolades her Music deserves, as much as "The Woman".....because, she IS....
WOW....We are on the same frequency, my friend! I am 57, gay, and all of that....loved Helen Reddy. This such a pretty song. Special woman. Gay men have such good taste, or they used to...I laugh. Happy New Year.
This was amazing
That was a BEAUTIFUL tribute to Helen. Very well put dear. I'm sure she's singing up in Heaven with Karen Carpenter. Probably doing a duet with her. Now I'd love to hear that. GOD BLESS.
Thanks for being a part of my formative years! RIP.

So Sad to lose her. I have always loved her music and just 1 week ago started back listening to her music here on YT. RIP Helen.
I love that u can understand EVERY word sung!!! And that no words r on repeat!!!
My mother had Helen Reddy's hits on 8-track in the 1970s. Mom would play it repeatedly while cooking and cleaning. Hearing Ms. Reddy's songs brings me back to those times of my childhood.
Helen Eddy passing really made me sad. Grew up with her music. Many good memories. Helen was a remarkable songer, songwriter, performer. A true talent. Saw her in an English teahouse years ago she was a sweet person. R.I.P. Helen. Thank you for your music 💜
Helen Reddy...stupid spell check...
So beautiful. Thank you, Helen. RIP
Absolutely Incredible
She was perfectly suited to this song. It was all over the radio in 1970, and I never got tired of it.
I believe Yvonne Elliman recorded it first in 1970 and released it in 1971. Her version is great as well. Both women have beautiful voices.
To compare the songs is really impossible.
@@garychambers5850 And that's the point, isn't it? One's own particular, peculiar, private relationship with Jesus Christ---- "how" to love Him.
