Here’s the thing I will add: smile. My husband and children are affected by how I feel about what I am doing. They are put at ease if I’m smiling and content… they are stressed out if I am cranky or frustrated … this is something I continue to have to work on even almost 20 years into marriage/ home making/ parenting.

I am constantly working on this as well. I once read/heard something that has stuck with me for years: The wife is not a thermometer, reading and broadcasting the temperature of her home. She is the thermostat, guaging the temperature and MAKING NEEDED ADJUSTMENTS. She is the driving force behind a comfortable “temperature” and she IS the attitude of the home.

This channel is a hidden gem! I am almost 26. I've always wanted to get married, but in my mind, it was always a distant thought. Something that's far ahead in my future. Because of that, my thoughts about marriage have been very shallow. I think about the wedding, what I'm going to wear, the venue, food, etc. The honey mood. What house would we live in. How will I lose my virginity and my overall sex life. What my husband would look like and how romantic he would be What it would be like to announce that I'm pregnant with my first child etc. How many kids I want and if I want a girl or boy first etc. I never think about the day-to-day life of being a wife and how to be SUCCESSFULLY married.
For the first time in my life, I'm truly looking beyond the wedding and thinking of the realities of marriage. I am thinking about what it means to be a wife. What type of relationship dynamic I should have with my husband. What will I give to my husband and children? How will my daily life go? Who takes priority in the household (husband or kids). How do we avoid/handle conflict? What would I expect from my husband and what would my husband expect from me., etc. I've answered a lot of things for myself, but I still have so much to learn.
I feel myself maturing and I feel like I am finally taking marriage seriously, but I'm not truly ready to take on the responsibility of being a good wife and mother. This is where your channel comes in! You are a true blessing. I prayed to find a good husband and the lord showed me your channel. I could feel him in my soul speaking "to have a good husband, you must be a good wife." I don't know who my lord is planning me for, but he must be amazing!
I pray that you may continue to grow in understanding of what marriage is , as God designed it to be. more direction you will find it in the word of God as Christian map in this world. @the Bible.

12:18 - Just WOW. I love how you brought this up. Our culture has brainwashed us to put our careers, the corporations and the economy before THINGS THAT ACTUALLY MATTER. We have replaced our men and our families with the pursuit of money and it’s really sickening. I mean it’s literally making our societies sick by breaking up the families that make them up.
Also, how could anyone say it is not Christ-like to beautify yourself?? Have they looked at the earth that God has made?! The Lord loves beauty and spent time beautifying everything around us. If we are to be like Him, why wouldn’t we do the same?

If you are making yourself well groomed and dressed for the job of homemaking, you are giving the job the dignity it deserves. Of course, you wouldn't dress up in office attire, but something comfortable and suitable for your daily tasks.
Beauty in the privacy of your home for your spouse, sure. Not beautifying yourself outside in public for strangers to gawk at you.
I love the comments about personnel appearance! I’m an older woman now and your comments reminded me of my mother. She kept a home under difficult circumstances as the house was hundreds of years old, with no labor saving appliances that we take for granted today. Yet, she was always clean, smelled good, neatly dressed and wearing makeup. Also, she always refreshed herself before serving a delicious meal by washing her face and redoing her makeup, so that when we all sat down to eat she looked as called it” presentable.” She and my father were married for 48 years.
I became a wife to a man for the first time at age 47 after being saved at age 39 while in a same sex marriage! Over the past 10 years the Lord has shown me what a wife is for and gave me the desire to be a wife and keeper of my home. Godbless you!! :) I have tears in eyes, when I read you are mum of 8. I am mum of 4, and it has been really really hard and taff. I have no sleep, many times no time or energy to eat, kids were almost all the time sick, than disableness in teaching when they start go to school (it was mentaly exhausting). so I am so so so happy to hear what you are saying, grounded in God, in his word. I really want to make hard work and reset everything, my look at myself, at my husband, ger sit and planed work in household, get rid of many many things that cause me crazy and I really wont give them away. And I am thank you for tips how to start. And it is a big portion of healing for me too. because i have heard only realy ugly things from my mum about being a women and married. it is filling my gap of positive things about being women, mum, married. i have just testyfied tommy family during our evening prayer about this. I am praying that God of universe will change me more and more to his glorious image, and fill me with his revelation, truth and loving kindnes. and oracticaly guide me steo by step.

I agree with the wifes appearance being important. You don't have to be donning fancy clothes but just keeping yourself presentable is good for your mental health.
I’m so glad you mentioned the point at the end that it’s wrong to use the fear of your husband leaving you as a means to get you to obey the Bible. The Bible clearly states that we should care for our family out of a fear and reverence to God, not our husbands.

I associate clutter with ANXIETY! I cannot stress the impact of DECLUTTERING your home amd having a place for EVERYTHING. My husband said it best....what's the point of having a well decorated home (which I love) if its covered in junk! And ladies we can FIND excuses....my FAVORITE...."its lived in"...sometimes this is code for "Im lazy and procrastinating"..... I'm preaching to myself. PURGE regularly and have an HONEST conversation with yourself about excess and/or Hoarding. Less TRULY is more! I'm not minimalist but.... restraint is what I practice. A SIMPLE life with a sprinkle of cozy😊
I agree that some chores require a lot of mental concentration. I was just telling someone how I need to go to the grocery store but before I do that I have to make a list and before I do that I have to plan meals for the next few days and before that I need to check what we already have and what's on sale at the store. And trying to do all this with 4 kids is tough! So now it's 1pm and my littlest is napping. I'm going to make my list (and all those other things) and take all the kids to the store when he wakes up. Dinner tonight is Mac and cheese with garlic croutons and roasted broccoli!

Do you utilize Instacart? It saves me so much time and you can schedule the deliveries days in advance. You can even pick them up if you want to get out the house.
I’ve used it in emergencies but since it costs more money, I try not to use it. 🙃

Simple and healthy is best. You have four children. Doing big meals 3 x a day could get really old. Have a protein a carb and a vegetable or fruit. They’ll be healthy. Don’t wash dishes except maybe supper. Use paper plates for breakfast and lunch and real dishes for supper. It’s not about perfection. It’s about doing our best and using time saved to do something enjoyable like play with our kids. Have hotdogs outside. No clean up of crumbs and no wiping down counters/washing dishes.
I can't tell you how much your content and insight have been helping me. My biggest issue is I burn out on the trivial stuff like vacuuming crumbs and dry mud from 3 little boys, wiping down counters.

You made such a GREAT point about our appearance for the workplace vs home. Being casual at home doesn't have to equal hot mess express 🤣 I've been making efforts of getting lounge clothes that allow me to be comfortable and put together, so if someone unexpected came over or I need to go outdoors, I don't have to be rushing to change or cover up. Same for bedtime. My Grandmother married 60 years, and 7 children always said it's important how you go to bed. Dress well, take your shower/bath and smell good - whether or not you expect to be intimate with your spouse. It makes you feel better about yourself overall. And it's so true. I sleep better, I feel better, and I look better 😊
So thankful for these videos you put out. As child of a single parent house hold with no examples of what a nuclear family looks like from the inside I have had trouble knowing that I want to be a homemaker but not really understanding what that means or how to make it work. I am still working on myself as it’s a huge mindset change but I’m appreciative of your videos and others like them that help me navigate it all.

Absolutely! I’m a stay at home, homeschooling mom of 4 and everyday I wake up and dress as though I’m going somewhere. I hadn’t thought anything of it. I just always want to be ready if something comes up and I have to run an errand. But my husband recently complimented me saying he appreciates that after 18yrs, I haven’t “let myself go” and that I always look so feminine. I had no idea he even cared! Lol
I love this series, I really felt that sock thing! Those socks just get on my nerves, but I just imagine myself as if I were doing all these things for Christ and I pick up those crusty socks with pure joy 🤣

I’m 36. I’ve been with my husband since I was 15 ( which I understand wasn’t the right way to do it but it’s what we knew.) I can tell you that we went through too MANY heartaches until we got married 14 years ago and really started yielding to the word of God. It takes a lot of effort and selflessness, it takes obedience even when you don’t understand ( this was especially true for me growing up in a household where I didn’t have my father and the man who was there was abusive to those that weren’t his children.) Really surrendering my life to God has changed my life in a way that when it’s explained it’s almost not believable in this day and age we live in. It’s not to say that struggles and disagreements won’t come but you are equipped with truth to fight whatever comes. By His grace I’ve been happily married 14 years 6 children deep 😝 and loving my life which I never imagined would have turned out this way. The word of God is where it’s at! It yields results like it’s supposed to.

I LOVE your videos! I have been binge watching your channel the last few days while doing laundry or washing dishes. I’ve been a SAHM for 7 years and sometimes I have the feeling of ‘missing out’ or that I should bring in an income too. But all my sisters and mother keep reminding me to enjoy this time, that the kids grow up so fast.

I love how you called it a domestic goddess. And prioritize appearance. I wear dresses a ton now, and recently I wear aprons to keep my dresses clean and dry. My husband mentioned how a coworker suggested we do a double date to an event so the ladies can dress nice, and he bragged that his wife wears dresses almost everyday. It made me really proud:) your videos help me so much with improving myself and my morals.

I have been watching many of your videos and I absolutely love them all. I want to be a better woman, wife, mom, homemaker and these videos have helped extremely. I also feel like in a weird way, it has helped my mental health. I used to feel shame and guilt for being home and watching my friends and family work but now I feel so blessed to be able to stay home. I feel like my family needs me home and they show me how grateful they are. Since focusing more on femininity, I've noticed my husband being more loving and affectionate and my kids more well behaved and more loving. They have always been like this but it feels like it's been amplified, I set the tone for our home.

Especially in black culture, traditional women are looked down on more so than white women (I’m mixed but passing 🤷🏻♀️ I’m white to everyone lol). It’s an uncomfortable subject, really. With boss babe and hustle culture so so prevalent nowadays, it’s actually a SUBCULTURE to be traditional! It’s unbelievable.

12:07 - Sis! The pushback is real because of the normality of comfortability. Regardless if the garments are raggedy too. Comfort can honestly be an idol to us and I believe that's why many struggle with Spirit-led counsel to elevate and refine our characters and lives. Your points on this particular topic reminded me of a paragraph I read from this book awhile back that always rings in my ear. The paragraph is specifically speaking to mothers because it's a section of the book entitled "Mother-Queen of the Household" but the sentiments are fitting to wives and woman overall.
"If mothers allow themselves to wear untidy garments at home, they are teaching their children to follow in the same slovenly way. Many mothers think that anything is good enough for home wear, be it ever so soiled and shabby. But they soon lose their influence in the family. The children draw comparisons between their mother's dress and that of others who dress neatly, and their respect for her is weakened." AH 253.4
May we as Christian woman see our duty to be neat and tasty for our Lord, ourselves and those in our sphere of influence. Blessings always :)
lol, my husband likes it so much less when I dress up/fix up. He loves when I look comfortable and don't wear makeup.

As far as decluttering goes, the way Dana K White of "A Slob Comes Clean" has such a good framework and perspective that just connects with the way I think. So helpful.
Your points in this video were great - loved the section about taking care of self as a priority.
The one thing that affects me the most is the look on people's faces when I walk into a room. Within reason, of course. If no one smiles at me, if the people I love don't smile at me and look happy to see me, I start to consider whether I need to change my life and attentions.

My kids are all teens and young adults now (5 of them :) I read this book in my early 30's and it changed my world. I was just thinking of rereading and stumbled on your channel! I wanted to comment on the very end of the video- YES! Good on you for recognizing that undertone of your "husband's behavior is your responsibility"- ie if you don't do xyz he'll find someone who will. Yes that is sin! And recognizing there's so much good in the book but sometimes some lies that you need to recognize will help it be a joy not a burden on you.

This is a great and authentic teaching on not only a view but it applies to ALL women biblical and I was cracking up when you broke down the "foolishness" of the mindset of some women to not "honor" their husband
children, and family by taking care of themselves.
LOL, that is not the part I thought you would be objecting to (I hadn't really noticed in the book until you pointed it out) but the "maintain a childlike behavior" is the one I struggled with. I can tell you from experience though, my husband does actually respond more positively to my vulnerability than when I am Large and In Charge.

Children learn via our example not what you verbally demand/instruct alone..so yes get dressed up with the appropriate dignity for your family as a man appearance does matter. That's the Christian thing to do please remember that we are not working for " the man" but we(both roles) prioritize all our efforts for the Most High.

Hi! I just found your channel and I love it! I’m a 22 year old mom with a 2 year old and a 5 month old. My husband and I have been married 3 years. I am really trying to work on organization and homemaking. My biggest obstacle is my toddler. I feel guilty if I am not entertaining him constantly. I want to get things done and keep a neat home but he is always demanding me to play or go outside. When I try and work on housework he goes right behind me and undoes everything I just cleaned. I don’t want him sitting in front of the the tv all day to distract him but I also can’t entertain him constantly. Should I just require him to find ways to entertain himself? I am trying to focus more on my husband and not only my kids but I think the new trend of “gentle parenting” and validating every emotion of a child has effected me.
I would suggest try getting him to be mommy's little helper, teach him to put away everything he moves out of place and affirm him when he does , teach him how to help you clean or do small tasks

ahh, yes, helen b andelin. i recently donated everything that i own, and FW was one of the few things that survived. her wisdom is timeless.
I don't know your reason for doing so, but I really want to donate all my things! My husband has not quite been on board but every box that goes out is like a sigh of relief 😄
This is so hard for me. We are a family of 8. Mom, Dad, and 6 kids. We have SO much stuff. I also can't keep up with anything house wise. I only work 1 day a week, and we homeschooled the last 2 years. I'm hoping that when the kids go back to school this next year, I will be able to get everything in order.
every time i feel sluggish in the morning, I pray and ask God for strength & motivation to keep me going… then i turn on this (or one of your other) video(s). And let me just say, the job gets done every time lol. Thank you Heavenly Father for using Bindi to reach others ❤.
Out of curiosity, do you homeschool your children?
Wondering because I have 5 young children and we homeschool & farm/homestead so we are very busy in many areas. I love a clean and organized home and take great satisfaction in having an orderly home that my husband can come home to and I can relax in at the end of the day. I have many jobs outside of just keeping a tidy home though: tending our very large garden, taking care of farm animals, homeschooling, mowing/landscaping on our 10 acres, preserving/canning garden produce, etc.
Our 5 children are hard workers and I try to involve them in many of my jobs to help train them further. BUT they are all still young (oldest just turned 8 all the way down to one year old) and there is is more mess that they make than help that they are at this point in time.
I guess it’s hard to look at homes that are tidy and clean, almost to perfection, when the mother/wife doesn’t have the children at home most of the day (or they are very young like a baby) and she has time to dedicate to deep cleaning the shower weekly or washing windows to sparkling all the time. I clean and organize DAILY but there are days that it looks like nothing has taken place cleaning wise because I’ve had to work in the garden all day or we’ve spent the day working on homeschooling projects that the house looks very lived in. It doesn’t look perfect if someone were to drop by. I guess I struggle with that.
I suppose I want to just shed a light to women like me who have large families and other jobs like homeschooling and farm life to tackle as well, that you can glory God and honor your husband WITHOUT having to aim for perfection or run yourself ragged trying to make your home “just so” or spend an hour making a fancy meal.
Our lives look very different and God wants us to glorify Him by how we take care of what He’s given us.
If you are a homeschooling mom, or run a home business, or run a homestead….then do that to the best of your ability to glorify God and honor your husband! If your home is always immaculate but the garden is untended, or your children unschooled, then that isn’t glorifying either.
Do your best, strive to honor God and your husband, and thrive in where God has placed you.
I homeschool (but don’t homestead - that’s incredible that you do!). Personally what has helped me is decluttering. If we don’t have the stuff to make a big mess then there’s just naturally less of a mess for us. I had to purge a LOT of our curricula that I just really wasn’t using but it was making for lots of clutter.
I have also really built it lots of routine (this is not something that comes naturally to me). But I’ve given myself “rules” like breakfast isn’t done until it’s cleaned up. Or just making my bed as I get up in the morning.
I imagine it also comes to what your husband is okay with. My husband has told me so many times that he doesn’t want things perfect like a showroom. He has certain things he’d like (like a clear sofa to sit on when he gets home… and the living room to not be this crazy mess - he seriously doesn’t even care if the clutter is pushed off to the corner if he knows it’s been a rough day like with sick kids).
Sounds like my life but with less kids. I think it goes back to the husband. My husband does NOT care if the house looks like a Good Housekeeping magazine page. He wants to be comfy. he wants our home to reflect our lifestyle & hobbies/jobs. We do a lot of weird stuff - tanning hides, making ammo, spinning wool, sewing, making sausage, raising livestock, homeschool, etc... I grow & preserve almost ALL of our own food. Your house will NOT look neat all the time. But we do inspire folks who come to our house to ask, "what are you doing? How do you do that?" I keep the house relatively tidy & do all the basic tasks daily, But my hubby does not ride me if there are dishes in the sink. Sometimes there is more than one person, or even 2-3, can keep up with. Clean underwear. Thats what my hubby really draws the line at! He just wants clean clothes & something good to eat. Ha Ha. So I feel like I am honoring the Lord & my hubby by all of the pursuits that I help him with. I am to be his helpmeet. If it doesn't 'help' your husband to have a perfect, clean house then you are just being a nag (in my own opinion).
@@pattyhansen7563 Aww sounds like a wonderful and fulfilling life! 💜 Honoring our husbands isn’t a one size fits all formula, our husbands were created uniquely and so were we. There is more to life and running a God glorifying household than just how our homes look. In fact, our homes should be industrious in many ways, they aren’t just the place we lay our heads at night and park our cars.
…and I think that’s really cool that you tan hides and spin wool!!!
What's wrong with unschooling? I don't think people really understand what it is and think kids just run wild. Unschooling works wonders for us because my kids learn FARRRRR more reading and learning on their terms aka interest over any carbon copy curriculum ever will. My kiddos are light-years ahead because I don't box them.
@@yom12345 I don't think the original comment was talking about unschooling as a method of homeschooling. I think she explaining that if you are a "home" maker and your house is messy or a home schooler & your children are uneducated; as in, you are not managing your affairs well, or not putting the work in. Unschooled as in not doing their schoolwork as you are laying it out or checking up on to make sure everyone is on track. Unschooling as a method is a tricky one if you are not a disciplined parent. I know I could never 'unschool' although I do well at homeschooling. We would end up with too many blind spots. This was not a criticism comment, just I think that people will get confused about 'unschooling' as opposed what I think the comment was trying to drive home - being uneducated in general.

I love kitchen gadgets 🤣 but to make up for this I told my fiancé we will only have 1 cup, 1 plate, 1 fork & spoon per person to alleviate excess dishes.
We have no choice but to wash it out so that it can be used for the next feeding leaving no room to "get it later" & most likely a cleaner kitchen.
Might be excessive but it'll help me lol
It's only us 2 for now & when kids come in the picture they'll have one of each likewise 🤣🤣🤣
