I return again and again to the most comfortable items. I'm thin, but no more skin-tight jeans for me...and I live in cashmere sweaters, which last forever. 😊
@@sandrachank6982 And the online sites that sell secondhand things are fantastic. I buy nearly everything that way, much of it never worn. Just this week I found a beautiful Hunkydory sweater for 9€. I can't imagine buying retail anymore unless it's a bra or underwear! 😂
I would just add a black A - line skirt or palazzo for an evening out. That's my favorite fit (for my slightly pear shape). I started replacing my T-shirts with very basic crochet tops in good bamboo or cotton yarn. I'm a farmer, and just over 50. I have a very active lifestyle, but also want a relaxed sophisticated look when I'm not working.
For three years, I lived and loved minimalistic travel with even less than you. Mine fit in one carry-on-sized suitcase. I have socks, undergarments, colorful and neutral short & long-sleeved t-shirts, 1 skirt, 1 jeans, 1 yoga pants, a couple fine gauge cardigans, an ultra-light backpacking squashable parka, and quick-dry running shorts & tank top (for swimming and exercising.) Shoes are birks, ballet flats, and Merrell hiking shoes. I'm so minimal in my jewelry that it is always on my body. I use separate cloth pencil bags for: 1. toiletries 2. manicure 3. sewing 4. hair clips and comb 5. watercolor supplies. I don't wear any make-up except cherry chapstick, and I scrunch my long hair into waves without products for styling. I always carry a few books in addition to Kindle ones on my laptop. It's amazing how long travel-size toiletries last. Now that I'm back in a house, I long for the simplicity of that suitcase. My wardrobe is larger now but still has the same T-shirt & cardigan style with jeans, yoga pants, or skirts as the occasion dictates.
What weight limit for your cabin bag. I just haven't been able to travel with the Australian limit of 7 kg. I wish they would bring back the 10 kg two items cabin bag limits. I have tried and was too stressed since I was weighed and had to pay extra one time and was forced to discard stuff another time. I put on ten kilos between flights, and that was no bother to the airlines...lol.
I find it amusing how many people sound like they expected Connie’s wardrobe to be what THEY would have as a wardrobe. The idea is to take inspiration from this video. Choose colors that work for you! Choose pieces that work with your climate! It requires a little contemplation, not just watching a video. And if your argument is that this wouldn’t work for you, why not just be happy it does for her?
I like Connie’s style in general. I agree, her videos are suggestions for comfortable and elegant look especially for her body type, hair color and lifestyle. Yours may be different. Also, most of these items point to Amazon purchases. I would suggest you read reviews and fabric description before purchase and make sure to check on quality once you receive them. You may find it disappointing.
I don’t have a lot of clothes, but don’t think I would just get rid of stuff to downsize. My luck I would need a item and it would cost me money to replace. It saves me money using all my clothes until not usable then I toss out. Works for me.
I’m so at peace now that I’ve seen such a video that pairs everything down to one suitcase. I’m going to make this my goal. This was so helpful. Thank you!
When I retired, I moved to a village in a mountainous resort area. I'm in the Northeast so 9 months of the year you need winter or transitional clothing. It's casual and outdoor oriented so there's few dress up occasions. Even in summer (which is short), it can be hot in the daytime but cool at night. I have lots of layering pieces.i wear jeans, relaxed fit trousers , wide leg pants and casual dresses. I have some tees, button up shirts and tanks. I have my winter gear, but use blazers, sweaters and casual jackets. No heels. Sneakers, oxfords and boots.
When I retired, I adopted a simple wardrobe that works in every climate. No dresses, skirts, shorts or heels. I wear the exact same style of black cotton cargo pants and black slip-on loafers every day. I have a handful of short-sleeve t-shirts, and a soft cashmere sweater for layering. Add a light puffer jacket with a zip-out lining and my favorite silk velvet scarf. Everything is washable and no ironing needed. If I travel and need sandals, boots or outerwear, I buy it there and leave it behind.
My wardrobe is far from minimalist but this year I have only bought two items and some underwear. You are so slim. Everything looks good on you. It's good to be happy with what you have.
It's interesting that you have no patterned items in your wardrobe at all or dresses, just separates, but I find your lack of 'stuff' VERY uplifting, empowering & thought provoking. I am off to clear out my cupboards & wardrobes! You have inspired me & yes I have subscribed & will look forward to your next vlog 😊
Bravo! I am in process of paring down my wardrobe. Over the past few years, I realized that I wear very few of my clothes. The next thing I noticed was that the favored clothes are natural fiber and easy to wear. Dresses are my 'go to'. The area I have the most difficulty with is shoes-it is hard to find comfortable, attractive shoes that are supportive and do not make my legs look stumpy. Sandals and boots are the easiest. I cannot wear heels any longer, so dressier shoes are hard to find.
Do it now. I had to because I'd put on weight and it feels good. I will do it again when I lose it. The bonus is that a capsule wardrobe costs less to replace.
I recently adopted a very similar wardrobe… I find that now, with my sparse selection that I can create FAR MORE interesting combinations because my clothing isn’t surrounded by fifty other items hanging on the bar that are nothing more than “noise”. I certainly dress “better” with 1/4 of my original hoard of clothes. Thank you for your helpful videos and channel ♥
I notice ironing doesn't feature largely in your wardrobe choices .. lol. Bravo for not being paranoid that everything is crease free. I need to take this on board too.
I iron if I forget to lessen the temperature and/or spin speed when I wash my clothes. Cool wash, low spin and a good shake before I put my clothes their hangers to dry.
I love this. I've been living a little bit of a nomadic lifestyle for about a year now in Southern California, and am looking for tips on how to build a classy, multi-purpose, efficient minimalist wardrobe. This is a great video. Thank you!
Very nice video! There are so many ways to have more with less! Knowing your style and what works for your lifestyle is the key. Beautiful wardrobe and presentation. I have 25 pieces in my winter wardrobe and can still probably downsize it, especially the coats.
You are an inspiration. I am in the process of sizing down my wardrobe, and I am having a difficult time doing it. It is my hope that by next year I would be able to fit my wardrobe in one suitcase. Thank for your vlog!
Beautifully shot video. When I think of a near perfect capsule wardrobe for me these colors and materials come to mind. I appreciate the effort you put into it.
This is so difficult to downsize, if temperatures vary over the year from -15°C to +40°C and you need a home (cozy and garden work adjusted) and a business wardrobe...
I reorganized my closet, after losing weight and keeping it off. But I have leggings for yoga and exercise, bicycle riding clothes and hiking clothes and shoes and boots to go with as I live in Colorado. I have numerous swim sits (exercise, resort, hot tubbing, tanning, beach and family) plus beach coverups/ UPV protected clothing too. How can I pare down more when I have hobbies, high altitude, traveling and 4 seasons- often in one day !! ??
I admire that you can do that. I have been trying to empty my closet out for so long and have been very unsuccessful. I always need another dress for a wedding that is in a different season than what I already have, or I've worn that outfit too many times at parties..there are always reasons I feel that I need to buy something new because what I have in my closet won't work for this reason or that reason. I just can't seem to do it! I give you a lot of credit!
I’m a minimalist. I was just ready for another ‘purge’ of my wardrobe but was in a conundrum, and then I saw your video pop up! I’m on it! Thanks for the injection!
Wow, Connie, this is just what I need! My family lives in Central America but plans to move back to a mild climate in Europe again soon. I love that your wardrobe picks cover almost any climate. Last year I moved a couple dozen times, so keeping it minimal is very important to me too.
Connie, thank you for sharing your wardrobe. Inspiring, minimalistic and charming. I have recently started traveling a lot and also simplified my wardrobe. I try to create a capsule for each trip and it works - I get more outfits with less pieces, because of neutral colors and basic shapes.
Reading about your lovely minimalist wardrobe, I smiled when I thought of my friend whose husband said to her that he was having trouble fitting his clothes in his wardrobe. Well, you do have 54 shirts, she replied. 😂
Greetings Connie! Thank you so much for sharing your wardrobe with us. I keep trying to purge through my clothes, but I do love them all! Some things need to go because they are worn out and some just never get worn. You inspire me! Love and blessings ♥️🙏
This was a very helpful video. I'm beginning my minimalist wardrobe, 😊 Definitely capsule and neutral / monochromatic. You've given me a great place to start.
Merci merci 😊
Beyond a lovely mindful approach to your wardrobe. You inspired me with the beautiful scenery to always make the most of enjoying the beauty in my surroundings too. Thank you.
What I love about your wardrobe - and your whole approach - is it demonstrates that you are FREE from being a slave to fashion trends which is so liberating. The fashion industry and its endless mandates of what is "in" and what is "out" keeps women enslaved, anxious and spending, spending, spending and on an endless quest to be an on-trend conformist, which is so uninteresting anyway. ❤
So inspirational, thank you! I learned the benefits of a minimalist wardrobe many years ago when I was travelling a lot. I had few things, everything went with everything else plus one or two 'special' items. Sadly once I settled in one place the 'closet full of clothes and nothing to wear' monster got me. Okay, I confess it was me not the monster 😂. I finally realised that although I have a wardrobe bursting with lovely clothes I ALWAYS wore the same things, T-shirt and jeans in the summer, turtle neck and jeans in the winter! Now I am weaning myself off of feeling the need to own 100X more items than I will ever wear and it feels SO good to keep only what I LOVE and actually wear, things that will be loved (and worn) to death! BTW I prefer natural fibres too . Thank you Connie for sharing your inspirational journey wih us.❤
I think I need to purge my closet! I turned all my hangers backwards and turn them back around when I wear something so at the end of the season those not turned back around well those clothes will have to go! ❤🇨🇦
Could you possibly show us how you pack it all in your suitcase? Also, do you have a travel steamer to keep your clothes looking so fresh? I feel like I always look like I’ve been sleeping in my clothes…
This is awesome. I am totally of the same mindset. Very similar taste as you - and also travel a lot. You’ve given me some good ideas about paring down even more!
Lovely. This is exactly the breath I needed. My closet over the years has vacillated between minimal and disheveled. Don’t we always go back to our simple roots? I heard your words when you said unexpected/unforeseen events. That’s always when I start getting to that disorganized space again...and retreat back with my tail between my legs in full knowing where I need to stay true 💗
Thanks for sharing. Love your variety and style. My husband and I recently went away for a week and got all of our clothes in one suitcase. 1 bin for shoes and jacket layers. We needed clothes for wide swings in temp and rain. Packing was easy and less stressful.
I recommend that you get your colours done ..... It was a great investment for me ..... And I learned that pale blue is a far more attractive colour than cream personally.
Such an elegant and effortless wardrobe but I highly recommend a travel steamer / or crease release spray. you will look sharper. Although you already look absolutely beautiful.
Love it❤ I am working toward a similar wardrobe. Since I no longer need to go to the office, I can do with less. You are an inspiration, wish that I can retire and travel as you do.
Love your choices! I need to get into my closet and dresser and mindfully choose! For instance, I have a more fitted top that has brown, black and white in it. Which would go perfect with my dress pants (Brown pair, etc). I have too many patterned skirts I dont ever wear and dresses I havent worn in years that need to go! I too love sweaters. I have a tannish color one and a black one and a blue one. All the stuff I mentioned abive seem to be my go to for work. Casual- 1 jeans, t shirts, 3 pr. Capris. All able mix and match so Im good in casual. Cannot wear heals, need wedges. 1 boots, 1 sneaks, dont like flip flops but 3 pair of flats in canvas (2) and bkack leather (1). Who knew I had a capsule wardrobe even before it became a thing????
Funny you should ask about a dress. 😂I had worn my simple black dress to my daughter's ballet performance the prior week of filming this video. When I washed it, it shrunk 3 sizes! I couldn't even close the front clasps. I'm not sure if I will replace it or just stick to my skirts.
Costa Rica not even hot, living in south Florida is hot year round not including central or north Florida they get some cooler weather. Your outfits make me hot!! Lovely as they are you're minimalist outfit would boil us. And color is needed where I live. Great for northern living.
As a plus size, I would consider modifying the shape and options. The colour pallet is great. I was recently hiking and required marino wool, wicking fabric, and rain gear.
I just love this....Thankyou so much for sharing....You give me inspiration and I really need it. I’ve have going on with this stuff so many years, and it feels it never ending. Your video give me a kick in the but. 🙏🏻❤️🥰
I have always dressed very minimally, although (or because of?) training as a textile designer in my forties. I don't want stuff, want to concentrate on creative projects and life, and not worry about what to wear. I also find it difficult to find things that fit well, being tall and an hourglass shape, so when I do, I keep it, but they are usually very simple garments, well cut and steamlined shapes. Like you, I live in tee-shirts, three jersey shirts, various trousers, five pairs, a couple of skirts that can be dressed up with heels or worn casually too. I have three dresses, black, kharki and rusty red, all jersey, all can be dressed up or down. Two coats, one puffer for winter, one lightweight showerproof for other seasons. I have two pairs of trainers, dark for winter, light for summer, walking sandals, two pairs of flattish slingbacks, one black, one white, one bag for winter, one summer, one evening bag, one backpack. Three jumpers, one cardigan, lots of knickers, five bras, black and white and neutral coloured. If I get too many things in my wardrobe, I start to feel panicky and stressed, so maybe a natural minimalist?
This video is super helpful to me. I always struggle with how much to own and I am always slowly removing items I don’t use and donating. I still feel like I have too much and I live tiny. I especially appreciate that you said you owned one handbag. I personally loved your choices as I have very similar colors…all neutral so I can interchange things. My favorite was that light skirt and your favorite sweater. I just love those two items. Thank you for sharing I feel another purge coming on … 😂❤👗👚🧣👖😊 Oh wait I forgot those sneakers are perfect‼️ The colors on them are so good.
I've been slowly drifting toward minimalism & the best t-shirts I've found for quality are the St. John's Bay ones from JCPennys, I have a white in each crew & v-neck.
I buy Hanes 100% cotton t shirts that I wear almost everyday year round and they last for months through multiple washings while staying soft and comfortable.
Yes and no. If you have one dark and one light suit and a selection of blouses, that's generally enough, especially if you switch out accessories. If you have three suits, that gives you nine outfits even without changing blouses.
❤❤❤ I am considering a minimalist wardrobe myself. I would only advice to have a color analysis for the pieces to be in harmony with your skin undertone.
I always feel like I have been given a treat when I see that you have posted a new video. I was delighted to stumble across you on the Aura App too. I hope that you are enjoying and adjusting to your new way of life. I love your minimal wardrobe. Where do you typically source the items? ❤
YAY! I'm so glad I can brighten your day. I'm not loyal to any one store or brand. Many items are from second-hand stores or clearance rack. But I search for the best options with good reviews for important travel items like the packable coat and shoes.
I like everything you have. It all looks great on you. I have so much that I don't even wear. It seems I wear the same things all the time. Their comfortable and look the best on me. But I still have trouble getting rid of the rest. 🤗
You are beautiful and thin and look fabulous in a paper bag. I’m sure! You seem to have more clothes than most people. Most people don’t even have that many I believe. Especially in such a good condition.
I love the minimalist capsule wardrobe you have. Something to aspire to; however as a plus size, patterns hide a multitude of sins so not sure how i can achieve something similar! Thanks for sharing 😊
Very nice. You look elegant and chic. I need to downsize now that i am retired. So many dress clothes I will not wear. I suffer from the "just in case" syndrome but really, we all over buy and then don't wear half of what we own. Same with packing, I've learned to never have more than one carry on.
I really enjoyed this video! Just discovered you and love this capsule wardrobe model. I'll use it as a template, adding my colors and style preferences. So very informative and so pleasant and calm, I loved your voice and your artful shots of the clothing and you. One addition would be nice: showing more full length shots of the different outfits as you wear them. I love to see how they look as a look. Great work!
Thank you for all your videos! They are so fun and inspiring to watch. Please tell us the places you are traveling to and what you are enjoying being there.
Hi Melissa, We travel mostly to spend time with our grown children. We visit Costa Rica (for my son), Munich Germany (for my daughter) and USA (for my youngest). When possible we visit nearby countries or places along the way.
Beautiful, really liked the pants selections and jewelry. I see you didn’t bring the beautiful printed skirt from few videos ago. Understand why but aww lol even with that small amt you both sharing a suitcase, it must be very large! Enjoy your videos so much.
Your wardrobe should fit your unique lifestyle. What are some of your favorite wardrobe items?
Interesting but not even one dress ? 🤔
I return again and again to the most comfortable items. I'm thin, but no more skin-tight jeans for me...and I live in cashmere sweaters, which last forever. 😊
Second hand shops can have very reasonable and beautiful clothing. No reason to wear things to a frazzle.

Don't downsize. Think rightsize. It is your wardrobe. Your lifestyle. Your sensibilities. Reduce what cause you friction to find your flow.
Has never happened to me.
When my sister and I were growing up we used to tease our mom about her many items of taupe! Now we get it.

You'd make a great model/poster child for Eileen Fisher. Everything you featured looks like her clothing.

Thank you Connie for sharing your inspirational journey wih us.❤
I had the same experience a few years ago when we moved into a house. It's crazy how more clothes found their way into my closet.
Thank you Connie.
I learn so much every time your video! ❤
I'm so glad!
I think I need to purge my closet! I turned all my hangers backwards and turn them back around when I wear something so at the end of the season those not turned back around well those clothes will have to go! ❤🇨🇦
I could never reduce my wardrobe to such a tiny capsule, but your choices are a good ‘recipe’ for reducing my wardrobe to a more manageable one.
Thank you for your videos. I always learn things and you are so calm. Love you!
Hi JT, how's your day going with you?
Could you possibly show us how you pack it all in your suitcase? Also, do you have a travel steamer to keep your clothes looking so fresh? I feel like I always look like I’ve been sleeping in my clothes…
Great video idea! I do not have a travel steamer. The airbnb I'm staying at happens to have an iron.
Yes, I would like to see how you pack all these things in a suitcase too. That many shoes in my size 42 would fill a suitcase!!
You've created a very fun and useful wardrobe! I'm impressed 👍🏼
thanks!
The perfect style and you have beautiful hair! thanks for sharing.
Hi mich, how's your day going with you?
Hi Leslie, how's your day going with you?
I recommend that you get your colours done ..... It was a great investment for me ..... And I learned that pale blue is a far more attractive colour than cream personally.
Such an elegant and effortless wardrobe but I highly recommend a travel steamer / or crease release spray. you will look sharper. Although you already look absolutely beautiful.
Connie, I love all your videos. You are a fantastic person! Beautifully short video. Thank you.
Love it❤ I am working toward a similar wardrobe. Since I no longer need to go to the office, I can do with less. You are an inspiration, wish that I can retire and travel as you do.
Looks perfect to me!
I love this video...inspires me to find my own style and pare down. thanks!
Love your outfits so elegant and modern. Surprised no lovely easy dresses or 1 for best
Funny you should ask about a dress. 😂I had worn my simple black dress to my daughter's ballet performance the prior week of filming this video. When I washed it, it shrunk 3 sizes! I couldn't even close the front clasps. I'm not sure if I will replace it or just stick to my skirts.
I admire your wardrobe choice ... minimalist
Thanks!
Costa Rica not even hot, living in south
Florida is hot year round not including central or north Florida they get some cooler weather.
Your outfits make me hot!! Lovely as they are you're minimalist outfit would boil us.
And color is needed where I live. Great for northern living.
Wonderful ideas and wonderful outfits. You have given me food for thought. Thank you!
As a plus size, I would consider modifying the shape and options. The colour pallet is great. I was recently hiking and required marino wool, wicking fabric, and rain gear.
I love your wardrobe! Thank you for the inspiration!
I just love this....Thankyou so much for sharing....You give me inspiration and I really need it.
I’ve have going on with this stuff so many years, and it feels it never ending.
Your video give me a kick in the but.
🙏🏻❤️🥰
My style has always been simple minimalism!! ❤
Hi😊😊
Wonderful! I'm thrilled you found this video useful.
I've been slowly drifting toward minimalism & the best t-shirts I've found for quality are the St. John's Bay ones from JCPennys, I have a white in each crew & v-neck.
Thanks for the info. I have such a hard time finding good ones.
Thank you Connie. This is so encouraging and helpful. Have a beautiful day too.
I buy Hanes 100% cotton t shirts that I wear almost everyday year round and they last for months through multiple washings while staying soft and comfortable.
How awesome. I wish I could be so brave. Your style really suits you. Thanks for the inspiration 😊
Lovely choices. I would substitute anything black with navy blu.
Hi Silvia, how's your day going with you?
Reducing wardrobe for traveling is a lot easier than reducing it for professional corporate office attire where people expect you to dress up.
You have a beautiful style!
I like everything you have. It all looks great on you. I have so much that I don't even wear. It seems I wear the same things all the time. Their comfortable and look the best on me. But I still have trouble getting rid of the rest. 🤗
Great video, I love your choices and they look great on you. Its my goal to reduce my wardrobe and this was very well done, thank you.
You are beautiful and thin and look fabulous in a paper bag. I’m sure! You seem to have more clothes than most people. Most people don’t even have that many I believe. Especially in such a good condition.
I like your haircut. 😍 I agree with your tank top tip. I wear them as tops in the summer and underwear to keep warm in the winter.
I love your casual yet sophisticated style and I appreciate you're putting links to where some of these fine pieces could be found. 🙏
One purse😮.... you are my hero! I do have 4... but my " dream" it is to have 2 perhaps 1.... one day I will get there.... loved the video
Thank you so much for sharing !!! A beautiful collection
Great work!
Stunning wardrobe, accessories and hair 😊💕
perfect amount of clothes for a tall thin person who expresses themselves through thoughts and actions / not clothes
well executed wardrobe Connie. Love your pieces of clothes.
thank you so much!
Awesome. Thanks for sharing!
I was waiting for that skirt too! ☺️
A beautiful wardrobe. Thank you for sharing 😍.
