Train Viewing Platform Elevator Now Open Funny Ending

- This is a video I made of the new elevator at the new Train Viewing Platform & Tower in Plant City Florida.
Also there are 3 trains in this video that go through the diamond from a view at the top of the tower.
Stay tuned for a funny ending.
And 6 years later this has now been completely destroyed.
the platform is still here.
Can we all agree amtrak makes the best beats going through this diamond when it's not going fast like frr

The funny part was Alan running up and the elevator door doesn't open. We all know what happens at the end, but it was pretty good. Almost didn't notice it.

That wasn't anything I was expecting! The elevator is just a handicapped lift. But great video! And very nice shots of the trains! Why was amtrak going so slow?
Amtrak had a speed restriction due to just completed work on the diamond.

Very rare but 1 time I did when a train stopped 5 cars over because the other one was crossing from the same track up a little bit

Millenniumforce There are "train buffs". There are "rail fans".
You're what would be called a "rail nut!".
I, to this day, no matter where I am or what I'm doing, will yell, "TRAIN!" whether it's a train on TV, a train horn in the distance (1.4 miles away) a train idle on a siding or one in action. What does that make me? Cool...that's what.
I just watched my DVD "Tehachapi Cab Ride" by Highball Productions last night...again. Kind of sad seeing Southern Pacific locomotives and no cabooses. Both gone...
What's cool about this DVD is that at the end before the freight enters Mojave, it goes right by my Mojave Desert camp site, about 70 feet away, where I camp, ride dirt bikes and watch trains on a very busy 2 rail main line. Saw 3 at once back in the 1980's. Nice for only 2 lines. A rarity.
People may think you're a stoop for speed-waddling by going, "Train! Got to hurry!" but they don't understand.
It's like Roseanne Barr spotting a Hometown Buffet and yelling, "FOOD! I'm HUNGRY!".
Same thing.
Like Amtrak used to say, "There's Something About A Train..."
As far as the elevator, you could fall down the stairs faster than that heap.

Millenniumforce Gee. You'd be a handful at my Warren campsite next to the tracks near Mojave! Trains, trains, trains! No Amtrak, though. No great loss.

Back in olden times when there were cabooses (remember those?) a train rumbled by. It's summer and like 105 degrees. As the caboose passed, the conductor yelled, "You look hot!" and tossed me an ice-cold sixer of water in the small plastic bottles. Two exploded when they hit the ballast (gravel to you non-rail fans) but 4 remained. I chugged two on the spot.
About 4 years ago, my wife and I are sitting around the fire eating our "Hobo" meal of BBQ'd 'T' bone steaks, fired potatoes with our garden vegetables and beans. The sun was down. It was dusk when we heard, "Hello in the camp!" Up walked a Union Pacific cop, fully armed.
First thing I said was, "Just for your information, I have a loaded gun in the back of my truck." He said, "Oh, I'm not worried about any guns. I was just wondering what you're doing here. The engineers reported that it looked like someone was living here." (It was our 6th day)
Anyway, he said we were trespassing. I told him I'd been camping here since 1976 w/no problems. He thought for a second and said, "Well, if you don't say anything, I won't. Have fun." and split. Cool guy.
Had I not been so hungry and anxious to finish my steak before it got cold, I would have invited him to dinner. I messed up by forgetting to ask for his card so we could send him Xmas cards.

Millenniumforce I saw some of your "No More Horns" posts and you'd be thrilled to know that out of the 17 International truck I've owned, 3 had air horns. On one (1968 3/4 ton 4X4) I not only added an air horn on the roof, but a siren and Klaxton ooo-gahh horn under the hood, both operated by my left foot. Imagine all 3 at once.
I miss back in the 70's and 80's when my friends and I would hop the freight trains and take them for a ride for many miles but today has changed you have to be very careful of being arrested. Back then they could care less and back then us rail fanners would not get hurt or killed and still have fun. I am going to jump a train again one day.
