I've gone down a Ledger rabbit hole lately after checking out Skillet's new album and remembering how much I liked them. Haven't listened to new music in *years*. Anyway, there's a very good chance that the piano is being played by Korey Cooper from Skillet as she was the primary producer on the Ledger EP.
@THEDavidHeretic I think the "flipping" you're talking about is what they call chest voice compared to head voice, like I don't understand it fully but chest voice is used for power and head voice for softer, higher notes, and it's actually necessary to switch to reach those higher notes. I've watched a number of vocal teachers/coaches you can also find here and they often talk about those voice registers

An AMAZING voice, yet another typical pop song all around from production and mixing to chord arrangement... WHY can't these artists BREAK out of the box and moulds!
This is out of her normal box. That is what LEDGER is about. It is about her getting out of her normal mold from the more harder rock Skillet sound and letting her do the pop/rock sound she wants to also do.
I have personally loved every song she has done with her EP and her other 2 singles she released after the EP. This was her Ballad song as they put it. I saw a interview a few days ago where she said she wanted to sound like a break up song. But it's about how God ruined her but in a good way. She has such a amazing voice. But i can definitely see how some may not like the song. I honestly probably wouldn't like it as much if Jen did not mean a lot to me on a personal level.
I remember her saying she was singing about the overwhelming feelings of getting hit with God's true love through the lens of the overwhelming feels from the false love of unfaithful boyfriends. Such a beautiful contrast, still one of the most beautiful songs I've ever listened to.
@@Wordsman She has said it is about how God can come into your life and change in ways you never expected. In some cases ruining what you may have thought you had planned out. Like how Jen was going to give up drumming to be a hairdresser then the Skillet audition fell in her lap and she thought she was going to mess up and even tried to sabotage herself. But she played so well she got the spot. She was nervous being scared playing infront of just 200 people to doing sold out stadium shows with thousands of people. How Gods love and strength can get her through it. How even with the anxiety she can do it because He tasked her to do it. She said she writes the songs like a love/breakup song so it can still be relatable to her none Christian fans. She talked about it a little when she did her at home concert last week
@@boberhavok yeah, I don't remember where I heard it. I'm pretty sure it was an interview where she was talking specifically about this song. All of her songs come from a deeply personal place for her (as all great art does) so how much of what is a difference in specificity and how much is memory lapse idk but regardless this song is beautiful and what the original intended interpretation was should never take away from that fact.
