Hi Adrien. X100V is weather sealed, has an ND filter, leaf shutter and built-in flash. So somehow very different from XE4. I have now a XT5 and the menus remember where you were last time (certainly useful). Cheers!

Good practical review, the X100V is a great camera, but I can see people getting excited for the first 11-14 months with it then it falling off to newer trends in photography. Fujifilm can hardly ever get knocked because they do it just right but the X100V is just floating well because of its ease of use and its (hard to get for a good price) situation. Having the ability of changing lenses is a bonus and important to some, but not all. that said the X100 range has always provided the ideal range for street and travel. 35mm is king to those that have been into photography a long time and tried many variations. Its good to see a channel that promotes a non aggressive and humble attitude to photography and with an open realistic mind-set.

    • @-grey
      @-grey Год назад +2

It's unfortunate that they didn't see the trend coming. It was pretty gradually becoming a cult camera over the years. The X100T blew up on RUclips even when Kai did his review of it in Hong Kong back in like 2013 or something.
Now they have all their top of the line flagship cameras in stock like the X-T5 and both X-H2 line, when they really could have made some big bucks if they had given some more focus to the compact market.
I think they got duped by all the reviews complaining about their lack of professional gear from people who wouldn't buy them anyway even if they had professional gear. When really most of the Fujifilm users are here for the balance of cost x size x performance, not for any one of those to be the primary focus.

    • @UrbanoModa
      @UrbanoModa Год назад +1

@@-grey I don't think FujiFilm ever want to be regarded as Pro-market but I concur they have/ had a bespoke cult system in place with the X100 range. I'm quite surprised only now that people are getting into Fujifilm simulation recipes, but good on them. It's better to find an outlet of joy now than never at all. There is too much in the market not to be fixed on one brand, I think most people have a shot at different types of gear compared to Years ago when Canon and Nikon were dominating the pro consumer market and people only had one brand. Fuji is great, any camera is great in the right hands but the X100V is proof of trend ruining practicality. albeit the X100v is still great but just not for me. As you say, it's unfortunate they didn't see the trend coming. I don't think the Xv100 will fall off too fast and heavy but I think Ricoh and Fujifilm might still keep levelling the playing field in the compact, retro styles, easy of use and practicality market. there will be mistakes, no manufacturer is perfect. Once all the manufacturers stop competing against each other and listen to the user experience we will see a reserve trip back to less megapixels, better experience and stuff that has a film feel with a retro styling. This is what Fuji is great at.

I've found that the "Fuji Red Shift" is common for the brand, even my ancient X20. I transfer photos to my iPhone and used the "Magic Wand" in the Photo app's edit suite to quickly correct this. Not quite as accurate, but further editing is available in the phone, or - of course - in LightRoom.

For the same price as the X100v, one could also get an X-Pro2 with a couple of lenses or an X-Pro3 body only and then get a lens for a little more money and have the OVF option (if that’s important).
I do love the X100v, but the X-Pro3 is arguably a little more capable and scratches that itch for me, even though it’s a little larger.

I go out with the 27 alot and it feels very natural somehow to get to show how scenery and people interact beautifully, when I tried the 35 I felt limited in a way.

The GR3 is still way smaller but as long as you use both with a strap I think they are equally easy to carry. Both are awesome but with the GRs you are stuck with only one focal length. With the Xe4 you can change lenses and go for something outside of the 28mm or 40mm the GRs have to offer. Love both, difficult to choose ^^'

Hopefully you stick with your raw work flow. I know a lot of people use the jpegs from Fujifilm, but I think you have a good personal style that wouldn't necessarily benefit from the Fujifilm stylistic aesthetic that they bake in to the files.
I've been waiting for one of these for years, and when it finally came out, it was out of stock everywhere on the american continent. 😂
I used to own the X-E2s many years ago, but skipped the X-E3 and went for the X-T2.
Now my X-T2 is rapidly dying, I am hoping to find an X-E4 somewhere soon, or I will have a lot of Fujifilm lenses with nothing to attach them to.
I am also worried about the buttons. Specifically the lack of a focus mode dial. I make use of it in very fast-paced situations, to switch over to Back Button focus and back for maximum flexibility in the chaos. Outside of that, so long as I can assign A-FL, White Balance, and ISO to something I'm okay. I don't think I need any more buttons for my style of generally P mode shooting.

Oh if you love the f2 lenses the good news is that they are all consistent. The 50f2 was my favourite for a long time and I was scared to get the 23f2 and 16f2.8, but they match the colour and contrast perfectly.

I will definitely stick to my RAW workflow but might experience with recipes just by curiosity. Even with fewer buttons I think there is always a way to make them match your own style of shooting. Interesting about the lenses. I might get another one to try out but I love my 35mm f2 so far. I am so comfortable with this 53mm equivalent focal length.
