- Removing the front brake rotor on a Nissan Patrol GQ. I initially had trouble with the rotor firmly stuck on the hub. I'm very grateful to Michael and Rod at Monaro Offroad, Queanbeyan, for their advice on the best technique to separate the rotor from the hub. They're great people to talk with about any problems or servicing requirements for your 4WD.

Thanks Chris, love your work, mainly loved the way you used the peices of the wood mate👍
Cheers mate, good to see someone who knows what they're doing and doing it properly. The Gregory's makes a more sense now!
Thankyou so much for this video. you have saved me so much time trying to work it out myself. Good little tricks along the way too.
Top Job mate!!
Thank you bloody lifesaver mate.
Well done, doing my gu next weekend, thanks for the heads up
great video, I'm contemplating doing the front pads and rotors on my gu
Just wondering since I dont have the locking washer removal tool, can I get away with using a screw driver and hammer to remove this threaded washer?
Top job...
Nearly the exact same procedure for the Great Wall V240
ive got a 94 GQ coil cab TD42 and my hubs dont have to same style locking was nut and washer. its weird seeing the style in the vid. i got a flat washer with a notch in it and a large 54mm nut.
+jye coker he has converted the locking washer and nuts over to the GU ones. A lot better
What's the preload for a new bearing when reassembling the hub?
It's on section/page FA-8 of the Y60 manual, you use a spring scale to measure the force applied at a wheel stud to rotate the hub:
- put the hub back on spindle, put outer bearing in with washer and torque up the hub nut to 167 - 196 N.m (hope you bought a decent hub nut tool, some of the ebay ones are a bit janky)
- undo the locknut, spin it back on by hand so that it just squeezes against the bearing (3-5 N.m), rotate the hub back and forth a few times and set to 3-5 N.m again
- measure the force required to get the hub to begin rotating using the spring scale on a wheel stud tangent to the hub (force A)
- turn nut in tightening direction and measure breakaway force in the same manner (force B)
- get it so that B - A is within 0-18.6 N. If it's too tight, undo the nut and repeat
What is the thickness of the new rotor?
Google says 26mm.
Almost the same as the 260
Too bad I don't have that tool, otherwise I might have done it myself.
+Spectre Its easy as. Just use a screw driver or punch
Good video except I cant hear him speaking clearly. I thought it may be me, but the other noises like hammering and banging are loud as.
please turn OFF the radio in the back ground !!!!!!
