    Excellent video! You've saved me a bundle. From knocking that bearing cap off; to removing that tricky retaining ring off with a drift pin punch.

    follow these steps one at a time and it was PERFECT right on!! I replaced my front brakes and rotors on my 97 pathfinder!! Thank you!

    Solid video, this was really helpful for my 02 Pathfinder (although my rotor/bearing assy needed some force to come free). I wish there was more info here on properly reinstalling and properly torquing the wheel bearings, I had to spend quite a bit of time to find a video where it's done correctly with the right tools.

    Does the bearing when it goes back in does it have to be tight or loose ?

  • @Godscountry2732
    @Godscountry2732 9 лет назад +1

    nice job,the only thing ,is maybe I would suggest[for non professionals]don't use a impact tightening them,a newbie could snap those bolts clean off,with a powerful air gun.Clean bolt threads[wire wheel],run them down slowly,hand tighten,then,put a few lug nuts on studs to protect them,,inset a screwdriver or other long object through the wheel studs,to allow use of torque wrench,without the rotor,hub turning,tighten in a X pattern to the proper torque.use a compound or anti squeak spray on caliper side,clean and lube slides,pins,etc making sure caliper is able to float,[move back and forth]Newbies might want to torque wheel lugs too.

  • @JacobPetersenR

    I'm in the process of doing this, but I've stripped those screws holding the wheel bearing lock nut in. How deep are they? Would I be able to drill them out? Any other suggestions? Thanks for the awesome how-to video.

    Is there an outer race for the wheel bearings for a 2003 hub???

  • @FixyourNissan
    @FixyourNissan  12 лет назад

    yes it's pretty much the same. Just the 4 wheel drive exterior hub is different. That is held in by hex bolts. Then that whole hub comes off.

    So about to order new hub assemblies and rotors for '04 pathfinder. Does the hub assemblies have bearings already in them so I don't have to mess with bearings separately? Thanks for video so few cut to the chase like this one.

    • @FixyourNissan
      @FixyourNissan  4 года назад +1

      No, you would need a Race installer to install the bearing Races into the hub, and you would need a wheel bearing packer to grease the bearings.

  • @InTheDogHouse3DPrinting
    @InTheDogHouse3DPrinting 8 лет назад +1

    Does this apply to both 2 and 4 wheel drive pathfinders?
    Put that nice new clean rotor on the dirty floor. I usually lay a rag down to keep the worst of the dirt off of them. And I always use brake cleaner to clean the rotors, and calipers before I put it all back together.
    Great video.

    • @FixyourNissan
      @FixyourNissan  8 лет назад +1

      2 wheel drive is very similar. If you can do 4x4, then 4x2 is easy. Yeah, I know about the rotor on the floor. I had to rush to get this job done and my buddy (who's vehicle this was ) was pressing me to get it done.
      Thanks for watching!

    • @InTheDogHouse3DPrinting
      @InTheDogHouse3DPrinting 8 лет назад +1

      I appreciate you getting back to me. I have a 99 4X4 that needs pads really bad, and I was told that I needed to have the rotors pressed off of the hubs. I see that I can do that myself. The rotors on mine are still in good shape, so I will scuff them up before I put the new pads on.

    can i remove the 2 front cv joints and axles plus the front drive shaft and use my pathfinder as a 2 wheel drive, the diff is shot, its an 2003 auto nissan pathfinder but i need to use the car 2wdriveing until i can afford to get it fixed

    • @FixyourNissan
      @FixyourNissan  6 лет назад

      You would need to change the front knuckle assembly with different hubs for 2 wheel drive. With no axle shaft there, the bearings will pre-maturely fail.

  • @joni9615
    @joni9615 11 лет назад

    You can drill them out, but you will need to find another screw to use to secure the locking plate.

    When reinstalling the rotor , how tight should the nut be . Hand tight or should I tap it with a punch slightly .

    • @FixyourNissan
      @FixyourNissan  7 лет назад

      You tighten them snug. I literally just tap it counter clock wise to loosen it. That is about how tight it should be. Spin it in, and tap it a few times so it's snug. NOT TIGHT!!!

    Do you have to have the bearings repacked when you change the rotors?

    • @FixyourNissan
      @FixyourNissan  8 лет назад +3

      +barbara newton When ever you take the rotor off, you should pack the bearings to ensure that the wheel bearings will last. Not packing the bearings after a rotor has been removed is like taking a shower and putting your dirty underwear back on. You just shouldn't do it.
      Sorry for the terminology but that is the best way to describe it.
