Air Locker bonded seal failure #1
Просмотров 6745 лет назад
I purchased an ARB Air Locker for my Toyota 79-Series rear axle differential from Monaro Offroad. It was fitted on 9 January 2018. Within a few months I noticed that the compressor was cycling on and off frequently whenever I used the air locker. Towards the end of January 2019 I booked it in to have the problem fixed. This video shows the air leaking from the rear axle breather, and you can he...

ST4WDC trip to Yalwal, late May 2016. On Saturday we warmed up at the playground just below the Wombat Flat campsite, then went off to do Tree Root Loop. Most of us were stopped by the three large rocks below the shelves, and we enjoyed the track back going the other way. On Sunday we headed home along Wombat Flat Road and then up (what many call) Six-Stager and along Monkeygum track. Good fun ...

GQ brake rotor removal

Removing the front brake rotor on a Nissan Patrol GQ. I initially had trouble with the rotor firmly stuck on the hub. I'm very grateful to Michael and Rod at Monaro Offroad, Queanbeyan, for their advice on the best technique to separate the rotor from the hub. They're great people to talk with about any problems or servicing requirements for your 4WD.

ST4WDC Difficult Terrain & Advanced Recovery Course, 17 August 2013. This is mostly from the first day of this two-day course. This section of the course sets a number of challenges for drivers, who work in pairs, and emphasizes precise vehicle positioning, accurate wheel placement and careful throttle control. The second major exercise (not covered here) requires participants to winch up a ser...

please turn OFF the radio in the back ground !!!!!!
Almost the same as the 260
What is the thickness of the new rotor?
Google says 26mm.
great video, I'm contemplating doing the front pads and rotors on my gu
Thanks Chris, love your work, mainly loved the way you used the peices of the wood mate👍
Top job...
Well done, doing my gu next weekend, thanks for the heads up
30 November update: I'm pleased to report that following the third replacement of the bonded seal, this time carried out by ARB Fyshwick, the locker appears to be working well with no sign of air leaking from any of the seals or the housing. The locker can be disengaged and reengaged a few times before the compressor cycles on to replenish the air pressure, as expected. Having the locker working reliably was a big help on a few of the river crossing exits along the upper section of the Crooked River Track, above Talbotville, last week.
Thank you
this is bullshit
Good video except I cant hear him speaking clearly. I thought it may be me, but the other noises like hammering and banging are loud as.
Cheers mate, good to see someone who knows what they're doing and doing it properly. The Gregory's makes a more sense now!
Thank you bloody lifesaver mate.
What's the preload for a new bearing when reassembling the hub?
It's on section/page FA-8 of the Y60 manual, you use a spring scale to measure the force applied at a wheel stud to rotate the hub: - put the hub back on spindle, put outer bearing in with washer and torque up the hub nut to 167 - 196 N.m (hope you bought a decent hub nut tool, some of the ebay ones are a bit janky) - undo the locknut, spin it back on by hand so that it just squeezes against the bearing (3-5 N.m), rotate the hub back and forth a few times and set to 3-5 N.m again - measure the force required to get the hub to begin rotating using the spring scale on a wheel stud tangent to the hub (force A) - turn nut in tightening direction and measure breakaway force in the same manner (force B) - get it so that B - A is within 0-18.6 N. If it's too tight, undo the nut and repeat
Did you spray the nuts with penetrene . how hard was it to remove the broken stud? I need to do the same on cylinder 5 & 6.
All the nuts were loose or easy to remove. The difficult bit was the studs. You need a stud-extractor. Study up on RUclips for the tools and techniques!
Too bad I don't have that tool, otherwise I might have done it myself.
+Spectre Its easy as. Just use a screw driver or punch
Thankyou so much for this video. you have saved me so much time trying to work it out myself. Good little tricks along the way too. Top Job mate!!
Nearly the exact same procedure for the Great Wall V240
ive got a 94 GQ coil cab TD42 and my hubs dont have to same style locking was nut and washer. its weird seeing the style in the vid. i got a flat washer with a notch in it and a large 54mm nut.
+jye coker he has converted the locking washer and nuts over to the GU ones. A lot better
Just wondering since I dont have the locking washer removal tool, can I get away with using a screw driver and hammer to remove this threaded washer?
