  • For decades, the United States has been a leader in satellite navigation technology. The U.S. Global Positioning System, or GPS as most of us know it, was originally designed as a military tool, but has also become indispensable in the lives of civilians, with over 6 billion users around the world. But the U.S. is not the only country with its own global navigation satellite system. Russia has GLONASS and the European Union has Galileo. In 2020, China launched the last satellite needed to complete its own global system called Beidou, which translates to “Big Dipper” in English. Since then, the influence of Beidou has grown, with an estimated 1.1 billion people now using the system. Experts say Beidou underpins not only China’s military ambitions, but is also spurring economic growth in the country and increasing its diplomatic leverage.

I really doubt that the freedem and democracy can protect India from being targeted by the US when it comes to global hegemony competition. Indian companies won't be able to compete with US tech giants in a playground that is govened by a fair set of international rules. One thing that India is different from China is that India is more or less like Israel. they export not only engineers to US, but also CEOs. they are part of US capitalists which able to influence the US policy.

    I should clarify that the Chinese develop the Beidou System is not merely for the Taiwan issue. Far earlier beyond that. In the seventies or eighties when Iran was banned for shipping weapons and military devices, at a time a Chinese merchant ship on the way to Iran, which was suspected by the US to ship arsenals, suddenly was shut down of its GPS, that the captain of the ship could not go on the trip. Later, the ship was stopped by a US warship in the open water. Search was conducted and found nothing but ordinary goods.
    But the Chinese Government was furious that how can a Chinese ship be searched in an open water by other country's vessel? How can the US do this way? It's obviously hegemony.
    The Chinese Government could not suffer any longer that they should develop their own GPS. That is, Beidou.
    The US, they ask for it.

China has never wish to compete with the West, but the West always abandons China so China has no choice but to depend on itself. the move the West abandon China, the more capabilities China will have on its own. it time the West learn to reflect China as a peer and not think they can't have their own if they are abandoned.

    From this and other American reports, one could sense how the inferiority complex has been building in the hearts of American. Together with the sanctions, I am convinced that America is losing. Because when two persons are competing in running 100m, competitors should run harder rather than pulling the legs of the competitor. China is challenging American dominance in economy, technology, space, and even in sports. Just look at the gold medal number in the current aquatics competition in Fukuoka.

    When US forces finally got around to finding the boats, weeks later, they realized those were fishermen, who barely avoided starving to death.
    Do you think a foreign power, ANY foreign power, would want the US to have the power to shutdown all of their navigation systems at the same time? Please stop with the incendiary reporting. Building a separate system is not insidious. It's insurance for when the US turns on the Chinese.

      Problem with that story is that you can't just turn off GPS for one ship. You'll be turning it off for all civilian applications in the wider area. So I have to call BS on that story. And it goes even further. According to official communication, the latest generation of GPS satellites no longer holds the capability to reduce the accuracy for civilian receivers. The one thing that makes me doubt that part as well is the fact that Obama signed a law that allows the US to destroy the European Galileo network because the EU would not offer the US any option to disable the Galileo network in a conflict region if required while offering higher accuracy to civilian receivers than what GPS has to offer.
      Furthermore, one of the statements in the video, namely that only the American GPS is used in aviation is also false as multiple manufacturers offer the ability to also pick up the Galileo constellation.

    • @letsplaywar
      @letsplaywar 10 месяцев назад +9

      @@Hans-gb4mv Disabling GPS for one ship: It is true that turning off GPS for a single ship is not feasible without affecting other civilian applications in the surrounding area. GPS signals are broadcast from satellites and are available for civilian use worldwide. While it is possible to selectively deny access to GPS signals in specific regions, doing so would impact all users within that area.
      Latest generation of GPS satellites: As of my last update in September 2021, there was no official communication suggesting that the latest generation of GPS satellites could no longer reduce accuracy for civilian receivers. However, satellite technology and policies may have evolved since then, so it's essential to refer to up-to-date sources for the latest information.
      Obama signing a law to destroy the Galileo network: I'm not aware of any such law signed by Obama or any other U.S. president. The Galileo network is the European Union's global navigation satellite system, and its operations have not been targeted for destruction by the U.S.
      Multiple manufacturers offering Galileo constellation support: It is accurate that multiple manufacturers offer devices that can pick up signals from both the American GPS and the European Galileo constellation. Many modern receivers are designed to be multi-constellation compatible, utilizing signals from different satellite systems to improve accuracy and availability.
      It's important to verify information from credible and up-to-date sources, as misunderstandings or misinformation can spread easily, especially on social media. If you have any specific questions or need further information on a particular topic, feel free to ask.
