Two weeks ago, i started using the dji t40 in my plaintain farm in the Dominican Republic, it is amazing, easy to use, cuts tons of cost in products and labor ... and it looks futuristic. People from the town where my farm is located literally stopped by the road just to see the drone work, is like watching a ufo .. DJi is definitely ahead of the game
Why is DJI the world leader? Because DJI has transformed consumer drones from model aircraft and workshops into cost-effective flying cameras that everyone can enjoy, and has expanded into power, agriculture and other industries. The most important thing is that DJI has always been at the forefront of consumer drone industry technology and continues to push its own technological boundaries, not just cheap.

Ah, the ole "national security concerns" again. Let me help Translate that: "We used to be market leading but we rested on our laurels while a Chinese company innovated and rose to dominate the market. Our American companies have tried to compete and have gotten their asses kicked, so they need help from Uncle Sam to try and cripple their Chinese competition".
Funny thing, once upon a time the US was the absolute leader in solar panels, both in research and in production of them. But the US abandoned them (likely due to pressure from the Oil companies), Europe tried its hand at them but with pitiful investments, and this opened the way for China to out-invest Europe more than 10 to 1 in solar panel production; now China has about 80% of the global solar panel market share (with about 40% of the solar panels made in the world getting installed inside China itself), and also controls at least 75% of the production of each and every component used in solar panels. This would have happened with electric vehicles too if it wasn't for Tesla. I mean, China will likely win out in the end because Tesla doesn't seem to be interested in making cheap cars, and electric cars already turned China into the world's top exporter of EVs (despite over half of all EVs in the world being sold and used inside China), but without Tesla then China would just have steamrolled the rest of the world when it comes to EVs.
China's not looking to compete they're looking to dominate and squeeze out competition. By limiting their infiltration into the public sector you actually open the door for domestic manufacturing. Now it's about location to reach a consumer price point ie a factory on the US side of the Mexican border with Mexican day workers for labour.
WHAT!!! Thats insane. THIS IS NOT a discussion about who creates better drones. This is a discussion about US government agencies using Chinese Communist Party drones. It is a FACT that there is no such thing as a private business in China. All the data being collected by DJI drones used by our government agencies is going DIRECTLY to the Chinese government to be analyzed by AI for surveillance & intelligence gathering. This is a national security issue!!! NOT an issue of who makes a better consumer market product.
That's what China does. They don't allow any foreigner tech into China. Why can't US do that? hello. It is a national security issue. You are just not informed enough to see it.
But, US is more concerned about the Russia Ukraine war and the Palestine Israel conflict. US is busy stirring up disputes around the world, busy bombing...
Tbh, it is only a facade from China - they give jobs that looks like they are jobs but they truly arent. It is like if you gave a homeless person a job of "street surveillance officer undercover"
When it comes to electronics, any company that exits the consumer market by declaring they're "focusing on enterprise" is effectively already on the down slide. Case in point, both DJI, Apple and Tesla dominate the consumer market and are able to continuously improve their offerings for the enterprise market as well, because of continuous consumer side feedback and optimization. Any company saying otherwise is just lying to themselves.
Yes, people are always passionate about new products, new features, and new experiences, and they will constantly try new products. Enterprise users only focus on whether they can use a longer period of time to share financial costs, and whether it is advanced enough is not the first issue to consider.
What’s funny is that I saw a video where end users thought that the latest military-grade Skydio X2D was not as good as the consumer-grade DJI mavic 3T…
Thanks to the Chinese government for listening to the Americans. The export of more advanced drones to other countries is prohibited. Fire-fighting drones sold in China are equipped with military-grade fire control radar, infrared measurement aiming, and 40mm rocket launchers. Fire-extinguishing bombs can be launched at multiple targets at the same time, and the flight time and distance are very long. If a large amount of it is exported to Russia, the war situation in Ukraine will change. If exported to Iran or Hamas~~~😰😰@@grid-panda

@@mgronich948 It didn't increase cost to US consumers, that would be a tariff, what the entity list actually did was cutting American companies ability to supply world's largest drone maker, effectively destroy any prospect of US ever building it's own supply chain and its own drones. i.e. a fatal combination of arrogance and ignorance.
US builds too many walls trying to sanction others until it traps them in a jail built by itself. One example was they used to be able to buy the best products from all over the world at good prices, therefore many product reviews first coming from them. I'll argue with the "less features". The most basic problem here always goes down to the cost. US can definitely develop superior drones, but the cost will be unjustifiable if they're going to target the consumer space.

Strange how Americans don't see it that way as we started a trade war. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. 😂 Things always go well for American enemies and china is the number 1
The United States has no chance to surpass DJI. All of DJI's technology patents, including production parts, account for as much as 80% of the world's share. Drone patents account for more than 95% of the civilian market. The United States has nothing to do with DJI because Including drone chips are all made in China. 14-28 nanometers are enough for drones, not to mention that China has already broken through 7 nanometers.
The have already brought a bogus patent lawsuit against DJI.....and surprise surprise the American court ruled against DJI. They arrested Huawei's CFO on bogus charges and kept her imprisoned in Canada for a year. They will stop at nothing to take Chinese companies down.
Let's not forget that starting at the end of this year or the start of 2024 the first all-Chinese 28nm lithography machines should be delivered and start producing. That will allow China to make 28nm chips 100% made in China, with no dependency on any other country, meaning those will be completely sanctions-proof. And China is already working on a potential way to generate the extreme UV light needed for 2nm chips, using a different method than ASML does for its 3nm chip-making machines, also using 100% Chinese components. Also, it's good to keep in mind that China's 7nm chip has performance and thermal dissipation characteristics roughly halfway between Qualcomm's 5nm and 4nm chips. They might not be as good as the cutting edge western chips, but they are a lot better than western 7nm chips.
DJI has patents? Ok, so why doesn't the USA just steal the Chinese technology and violate the patents, like Chinese companies have done for the last 40 years?😂
@@Cryosxify Unfortunately there's no sign that American companies will catch up, just like they've fallen behind in infrastructure, ship building and EVs. American industrial dominance is now a thing of the past. The Chinese run the show now

Meh ya know why? Us company can’t compete with DJI in price, quantity and quality, thus they just make excuses just to shut down that competitor. While other countries move forward, US moves backward.
DJI is the market leader by far and produces the most sophisticated drones for peaceful use. DJI drones have been well-proven to be secure and are produced for peaceful use only. Some DJI drones have been repurposed for use in war by both sides of the Ukraine war. The USA is currently using "national security' as a catch-all rationale to limit the rise of successful Chinese companies. DJI is a perfect example: DJI is the market leader because it is an innovator that produces high quality products. If the USA cannot dominate markets it seems to take the position whomever is leading needs to be punched down; this was the case with Japan and Korea, and it is happening with China now. Pathetic. Believing US companies will have an edge on AI is a little ridiculous considering Chinese already lead in the use of AI for mass-market peaceful use. Can US companies own the government market simply because they are American? Probably. But the consumer market? Impossible, that train left the station a decade ago.
ALL Chinese businesses are part of the Chinese Communist Party. That is a FACT. Every major business has an office within their headquarters for a team of Chinese politicians so they can observe every meeting and move by the company. That is a fact discussed by many US venture capitalists who have done extensive business with China. All data collected by these Chinese companies are going directly to the Chinese government and used for surveillance and intelligence gathering. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A PRIVATE COMPANY IN CHINA. Period. So all these drones flying around critical infrastructure here in America is being digested by Chinese AI surveillance. Rumours are, in 2015, just before 3DR was about to release the Solo to compete with DJI Phantom 3, FBI raided 3DR and shut them down for a 2 month audit due to them exporting drones and drone parts abroad, because of course Washington would be deluded in thinking only America has the tech. In either case after 2 month silence everything on 3DR website had an export control code added, even a power adapter. I wouldn't say Solo could have competed with Phantom 3 either way, but being shut down and restructure your entire operations right before your major product launch certainly didn't help sales.
3DR made bad strategy decisions, their downfall is how capitalism should work. They didn't take DJI seriously when it started competing because they had a regressive and obsolete view that China was the same as it was in the 90s

As a drone builder, the answer is no. We can't make cheap consumer drone with US components because all of the components are made in China. Parts can be made in Mexico. Mexico cannot develop its own factories mainly due to a lack of funding. The US has overlooked Mexico for decades because China has always been cheaper and easier due to the endless amounts of suppliers and manufacturers. In China you could probably easily find 1000 manufacturers of small electric motors, meanwhile in Mexico you might find one. Investments in Mexico will take longer to pay off but over the long run they will be worth the costs.

If DJI and Huawei's satellite communication system are combined, this will be the cheapest and most cost-effective battlefield weapon. Currently, there are 1,300 drone companies in Shenzhen, mainland China alone. China produces more than 7 million drones a year. Data from 2023 shows that domestic mobile phones produced a total of 507 million units in the first half of the year. Therefore, mainland China's industry can easily send 20,000 satellite-controlled disposable drones to the battlefield every day without making any adjustments. DJI is leading also because china has adopted large scale commercial usage of drones in a way that the US would never compete. For instance industrial agriculture in china uses large numbers of drones for sowing and pest control. Logistics uses drones for transport much more extensively than the US, Public security and traffic management like it or not is also much more drone dependent in china. And then there are those massive drone light shows that china likes to put on. Quite frankly the US is downright primative when it comes to commerical adoption of drones.

It still holds value. Indeed most of the Chinese products from places like Wish, Shein and Temu Are of very low quality. Ofc there are Chinese priducts with higher quality but they are generally more expensive than even the Western products when they come here. Take for example their EVs. The quality is really good enough but the prices are even higher than EVs from VW or Tesla in Europe and N. America. For a long time the Chinese smartphone brands made very good quality phones but recently their pricing really matched the likes of Samsung and Apple. A fun story is that Google is actually considered a good option when it comes to pricing while the quality is top notch
@@ulikemyname6744 China can produce goods of any quality; it depends on the customers' needs. The perception that cheaper products are of lower quality may be because Western consumers have less disposable income than before, and we can only sell products that fit within your budget. Apps like Wish and Shein aren't even used by Chinese people themselves. Furthermore, the reason many high-quality Chinese products are expensive in the West is due to the supply chain decoupling initiated by the United States and the trade war, so if you want to discuss offering good value-for-money products to your naive politicians, go ahead.
@@edwardchen9920 The lowering of disposable income is throughout the world not just in the West. Yet that's not the reason. China just makes crappy products for less money to flood the market. Regardless of whether the Chinese uses the apps like Wish or Shein they buy the same products that these apps offer. The same crappy quality in high volumes. After all the average Chinese can't afford to buy more expensive products and it settles for the garbage that comes out of the Chinese factories. Especially in the recent years when the disposable income among the Chinese dropped significantly and thus the consumer spending remained stagnant. While good quality products can come out of China they are similarly priced or even more expensive than Western equivalents. This means realistically China no longer has an advantage when it comss to costs. I guess that's the reason why so many companies are relocating to Southeast Asia or even to the US where the investments in manufacturing grew over 2 times in 2021.
More like high quality Chinese goods approach Western prices because that's how much it costs for Western standard materials and quality controls. This was true before the trade war.
Made in Japan is not automatically associated with good quality back in 1950-60s too. Nowadays Chinese made is gaining acceptance for reliability, quality and attractive pricing
Ha! You dare say China ISN'T "focusing on building war machines"?? China has consistently increased its defense budget over the years. Annual increments have been observed, reflecting the country's commitment to modernizing its military and enhancing its capabilities. In many years, the announced defense budget increases have been in the double digits percentage-wise. This signals a significant commitment to the modernization and expansion of the PLA.
just couple of years back, percisely before Trump administration, most of Chinese and Chinese businesses never thought that there would be a necessary need to develop their own high end chips to replace the ones that use US technology or create its own mobile operating system to replace Android system. from market prospective, there isn't a value for the approach. But today if you ask any Chinese people, almost everyone would say this is not only needed but it's kind of an urgent matter to secure Chinese supply chain by building up its technology to replace US ones. Before, everyone thought US would play by their own rules and orders, and WTO and many world organizations are supreme to govern things like the world trade even though they are not perfect. at least if any disbute, they know where to go. But today those rules are significantly weakenly by purpose. Chinese now seeing the US government are flexing its muscle and can bypass their own rules and orders in the name of US national security. almost any part of global supply chain can be interrupted under the name. if US national security is guaranteed by making others feel zero secure, our world is doomed to go to next war. I mean sooner or later if we have to go into this survive or death game.

a few years prior to the 2020-2022 null years, the major automotive industries didn't make the big push for joint efforts to push the EV market like they are now, as most were still in their planning stages. Now we're seeing so many new brands and sub-brands of EVs that are collaborations between car manufacturers like BYD, Geely, GAC, collaborating with consumer electronics/digital service brands like Lenovo, Baidu, Tencent, Huawei or foreign car brands like Volvo, Renault. years of work are starting to show what they've accomplished. although for the moment, while i like all many of the new EVs like Aion, Zeeker, Lynk & Co, ... many of the burly SUVs look so similar that nothing really stands out... with the exception of Hongqi's E111, although TBH, i want that burly somebitch E115 to go to manufacturing.
Yea, it's a strategy that you can only play once. Trump is betting that China can never create the Chips Supply Chain and come crawling back. By then they've got the bargaining chip. On the flip side, if they indeed can do it themselves, or worse still, they can do it cheaper, then you'll get yourself a competitor. And it set a bad precedence. If they can break a promise on one issue, what's stopping them from doing so for all of their promises? China is not only incentivize but threatened to develop their own instead of sourcing from the US. And if they can do it to China, they can do it to Europe, other Asian Countries. I personally think this chicken game is dumb and is just inviting trouble.
at least Apple had the galls to stand up to the FBI and not unlock a suspect's phone. any Android-based company would've immediately fold over like they have no spine.
Dji competes for engineers. They pay for top talent, they hold several competitions throughout the year in various countries and offer jobs to the top guys.
So US is reverting back to being an isolationist. That's a shame. When China wanted to cooked up it's EV industry, it invited Tesla into the market for the "Catfish Effect", said to the local maker: "Here's the best EV makers in the world. You either streamline your operations. Compete or die!" Four years on and now Chinese EV makers are flooding the European market with cheap affordable product that established brands like VW and BMW struggle to compete with. Honestly, I love DJI but I still don't think they having a monopoly is a good thing. Open competition is what drive progress.
However, some countries have their own drone products, such as the United States, Japan, Germany, and France, who can also produce high-performance drone products. Yet, their production costs are significantly high. If DJI were to disappear entirely now, China would quickly generate another DJI, leveraging its cost advantage to swiftly dominate the global market. Perhaps then you would understand how meaningless such idle sanctions are.
There's no need to fear cuz China won't ban the drone exporting to the global market. It will cost a lot more to develop a new type of drone than buying Chinese ones.
Politicians.. have been, are and will always be more theoretical than practical. Reason is that most politician, have basically no technical background...
Because the amount of project management and disruption involved -- including physical upheaval of entire neighborhoods -- is often prohibitive to do at a reasonable cost. China also gets a lot of similar pushback from their subjects, the difference is the Chinese government is not shy about silencing protests and actively convincing the rest of the country that their projects are pushed through for the "greater good".
I guarantee those state restrictions on Chinese drones came from lobbying by US manufacturers. It's not about security, it's about protectionism. Here in my home county, public records requests show a US drone manufacturer TOLD the county government what unique features they "needed" so they could avoid a competitive bid process.
US: “We need to decouple from China!” CHN: “Fine, we will stop selling our products to you.” US: “China is weaponing their products, it is pure evil!” CHN: “….”
The answer to the above question is no the US can not compete in Drones. And all of the "solutions" have been tried and have failed. Banning DJI means cutting off competition. But competition is why DJI is so strong, so much further ahead in technology, so much higher quality and so much less expensive. The DoD replicator program will be taken over by the US military industrial complex and they will build the equivalent of a $2,000 DJI drone for $200,000 but only if the Pentagon places an order for 1 million of them. If the Pentagon buys a smaller number the cost will go up. And 1/2 way through R/D the US defense contractors will jack the price up from $200K to $400K each. And when these cost over-runs become so expensive that the Pentagon finally cancels the program, congress will re-instate the program with a price increase.
You miss the point. AI component of small drones will seek out the nearest Chinese electronic component for power and send signals to devices with cellular technology such as mobile phones, transmitters, relay stations, cars, etc. Then a Chinese weather balloon will slowly float across USA and collect all signals to beam to satellites .

It's funny that my company wanted to buy a product from an American company. But the product has all its data in imperial units. When we asked for metric units, the American company asked for extra cost for the changing the imperial into metric. So we quickly found Chinese suppliers with much lower price and provided with better solutions, and without the issue of imperial units of course.
Some Chinese made Bras also have a small strip of metal wire in it.. It might transmit data all the way back to Beijing. Imagine China having a database of bra sizes across the US. Might be a worrying security concern.
DJI is similar to Apple. It has the world's top supply chain and is made in China. Shenzhen itself is China's high-tech factory. In terms of technology and cost, no one can compete with China.
Military drones, especially FPV drones or loitering munitions, need to come down in price or it just doesn't make sense. For instance, why does the fragile and tiny Black Hornet drone cost $200,000 EACH? Yes they have to recoup the development costs but there is no way that it costs them near that much to build, even with the minituarisation and fancy electronics on board. As with all munitions and essential military technology, there needs to be government oversight as to how much profit they are allowed to make, especially if they receive government funding to establish themselves in the first place. There are already many drone makers in Europe and the US that just needs funding and economies of scale to be able to make drones close to China prices. More expensive labour costs can be offset by using greater automation but this of course requires more capital investment and that's where governments can step in if they treat drone manufacturing as a national security priority. Also, civilian drones are not shielded and extremely vulnerable to EMP attacks so more anti-drone defensive weapons need to be produced.
The FAA has criminalized hobby drones. While you can study and take an expensive licensing test that has to be repeated to maintain currency with the law, that is a real market downer. Think of private pilots who need a log book endorsement to fly within 30 miles of LAX or similar class B airspace. With galloping regulations, how long before you will need a medical certificate in addition to a drone license for yourself and a separate license for your drone which must be registered like an airplane and have real time position reporting equipment operating. This is happening right now with Remote ADSB interfacing to your cell phone. It becomes illegal to fly in areas without cell phone coverage. Want to search for a missing child in a canyon? That's now illegal. It doesn't matter if you are a sheriff's department search and rescue unit, no operating Remote ADSB is a big fine and possible jail time. Why, so Amazon can deliver packages autonomously in our crowded urban airspace without interference. Lobbyists at work.
There needs to be a boom in U.S. industry for small electronic parts, as such the brushless motors and logic boards. With the baseline set then anyone can make a drone!
have you ever seen the DJI drone competition? you really have to see the event to understand it, this isn't just a company, it an entire community of trinkers, tuners and modders. if give space for team to show their skill and design and allow DJI to identify talent to recruit. it not something you can throw money at build, community building is a long and slow project.
The DoD and State Department have restricted their use. Many state governments are also assessing the risk. I’m guessing many didn’t have the IT budgets to pivot immediately.
There should be a US company that makes secure software for DJI drones. DJI will dominate the drone market for the foreseeable future. We need to adapt to that fact.
In China, businesses are banned from endorsing politicians and lobbying the Government, and there are 8 other democratic parties within their Congress each represent the grassroots of different major industry with offices spread across the country where the common people can contact to voice concerns, lodge complaints, and push for policy changes. You're 100% right but the fact remains that it is a national security threat. China could ban exports and catch the US with its pants down
Funny thing, once upon a time the US was the absolute leader in solar panels, both in research and in production of them.

Fire-fighting drones sold in China are equipped with military-grade fire control radar, infrared measurement aiming, and 40mm rocket launchers.
For comparison: in 2006 when the F35 first flew, 65nm was considered cutting edge.

毕竟嘴巴很廉价,就像这个媒体一样用言语攻击一个国家一个企业。他们关于中国的视频用到太多滤镜,如果可以,我愿意提供更真实的中国视频信息。本媒体的虚假视频太过多
Their plan is to ban everything made in other countries and get back to stone age 🤣😂
American politicians were mostly lawyers, meanwhile Chinese politicians were engineers...
I guarantee those state restrictions on Chinese drones came from lobbying by US manufacturers. It's not about security, it's about protectionism. Here in my home county, public records requests show a US drone manufacturer TOLD the county government what unique features they "needed" so they could avoid a competitive bid process.
US: “We need to decouple from China!”
CHN: “Fine, we will stop selling our products to you.”
US: “China is weaponing their products, it is pure evil!”
CHN: “….”
Weaponize …
You mean everything in china owned by the Chinese government!
With no quality

I hope one day Chinese products can be enjoyed by people because of their origin, not despite of it.

Right, it's over priced. Additional militarized drones would need to be withstand standard jamming and location of the operator.
Skydio just gave up on the US consumer market as they can only count on the government contracts. They cannot compete with DJI.
US: "If you cant compete with your competitor, demonize it and sanction it!"
boycott the us if you really want peace on earth!
Gotta make everything complicated to the point where you better off taken your business elsewhere.
I thought American said all china products is trash?😂
Drones are rubbish. I'm not a drone user. Because drones are not useful tools and produce something useful for me.
If Skydio is selling AI as its USP then so can DJI.
There needs to be a boom in U.S. industry for small electronic parts, as such the brushless motors and logic boards. With the baseline set then anyone can make a drone!
then load up web page and find more powerful part at 1/4 of the cost. uhm boom became bust
It's the software that matters.
have you ever seen the DJI drone competition? you really have to see the event to understand it, this isn't just a company, it an entire community of trinkers, tuners and modders. if give space for team to show their skill and design and allow DJI to identify talent to recruit. it not something you can throw money at build, community building is a long and slow project.
The DoD and State Department have restricted their use. Many state governments are also assessing the risk. I’m guessing many didn’t have the IT budgets to pivot immediately.

In China, businesses are banned from endorsing politicians and lobbying the Government, and there are 8 other democratic parties within their Congress each represent the grassroots of different major industry with offices spread across the country where the common people can contact to voice concerns, lodge complaints, and push for policy changes. That, is impossible in the US as the Capitalist Oligarchs dominates the game through lobbying and endorsing politicians who will work to their benefits. "Of the People, By the People, For the People" Governance in the US is nothing but an empty slogan that has been personified in China. This is why businesses in China are always innovating and building for the benefits of the masses as they're not only highly regulated, but also incentivized to do so.
