Back in the Crazy '80s, a friend of mine in a 5.0 LX (not GT) had a cop behind him when he put a temporary tag in the rear window (had it for months, long expired). The chase was on! Cop was in an old Diplomat or Gran Fury. Yeah, no. First cloverleaf he got to, cop loooong left in the dust, he does a Crazy Ivan going through all the loops and comes up *behind* the cop who had already blown past. Cop's flying off in the distance, bud's now doing a nice easy 55, a few more cops come blowing past him yet! They're looking for someone who should've been miles up ahead, and here he is putzing along at 55. He gets off and hits a local diner, parking in the back lot, sitting there an hour or more before heading on home. He said that even if one of the cops dragging up the rear would've stopped him, he would've taken the ticket for the temporary, but still played dumb. "Yeah, this cop went flying off chasing this other car, but it wasn't me! I was just minding my own business!" Good luck explaining how the first cop chasing him magically blew right past him and lost him. Good times, good times...

I wonder why law enforcement doesn’t carry a small spike strip they can put in front of a tire if they read the tag and it says warrant when they approach to arrest. This makes sure the bad guy doesn’t get away/or very far away in these situations
It gives me a warm feeling when folks evade the revenue police.
The fact them cops thought they were gonna catch him 🤣

If this troopers knows they have to detain some one, and they have two cars, why don't they put one car in front of the suspect car?

Proper horsepower, torque and timing is key to success in outrunning the law
You can never outrun the law unless you have at least 10 Million dollars stashed overseas in a non extradition country and a private plane that can get you there. I saw an ASP trooper get up to 151 MPH in a chase, I think they are having just as much fun as the guy they're chasing.
They have all his info and his warrant was drug charges. With this moderate amount of traffic and to risk public it's probably the right call to not pursue past 100mph anyway and let the long arm catch him at his mom's house.
If his mom knows about this they will hide it, many different ways to get away with this
They got up to 131mph - the top speed of some of the cruisers. They did go over 100mph.
Thank you for your expert analysis of this situation - a def valuable nugget of information you provided. I will sleep better knowing you are all over it.

If they haven't got him yet they probably not going to catch him there don't you think
An extra day of freedom is always a good thing 🤣🤣
Some squad cars are slow but some stations have hellcats and trackhawks just for high speed chases.
Why keep driving at 130 mph when you had no chance of catching him and didnt even have him in sight ?
Low IQ, Big Ego.

That GT took that first exit and probably sat up top at the exit and watched that statey drive off into the night at 131 mph.
These patrol units in the US are just to dawn slow after 90mph.

Before breaking the news to him about the warrant why don’t they anticipate that he may drive off and place spike strips next to the tires.
It is a good question...
In my younger days, if I thought it was the cops behind me, and if I thought it wasn't close enough to get my tags, I would have run in my Roush. With a rolling start at 80, I would have dropped down to fourth and be hitting 140 before he even reacted. With the traffic, I would have broken line of sight and then turned my lights off, and down shifted to take the next exit. I would already have been on the other side of the highway when he finally caught up. I may have been a dumb kid back then, but I did know how to drive a muscle car. kids now a days just don't know how to drive.
30 years old here. I may or may not have successfully evaded the police a half dozen times or more. But I agree the vast majority can't drive to save their life.

Placing a spike strip in front of his rear wheels before telling him to get out of the car would have been helpful.
@Merkava that would imply that the MORON TROOPERS had brains, when it is clearly demonstrated that they do not possess that part of the human anatomy

Gotta Love Stangs. As soon as he took off, it was over.
If the police were fully aware they were pulling over a Mustang with Warrants they should have planned on having a crowd of people standing at the next exit.
It would have been attracted to them and distracted enough that they would have been able to get a lasso on it real quick like.🐎🐴💫🎗
Those 5.0 coyotes are crazy. The volumetric efficiency of that engine is nuts dude. Little 5 liter motor can spin 8500 rpm NA and put out 650 HP 500+ lbs of torque at the crank without boost with just bolt ons and E85. Big blocks need a whole host of shit just to make those numbers , heads , cam ,intake , fuel system , valve springs , rockers , pushrods and are usually unstreetable low RPM afterwards.
@@luciankristov6436 OK first off, those cars are not gaining 200 plus horsepower and torque from bolt ons an E85. Secondly, the fuel cut off is at 6750 RPM so no, it does not rev at 8500 RPM.
@@TheWholeGrainBread_Real obviously you're a Chevy dude.. since you don't know shit about mustangs. For a couple of hundred bucks you can shut the engine limiters completely off and with a boss 302 intake 8000+ is no problem. But that's coyote NOT ls or mouse motors.
