Back in the 90s and early 00s, you had crazy cars like the lotus carlton/omega which could put supercars like ferraris to shame, in both top speed and acceleration, all the while still letting you carry 4 of your mates along, with luggage space for groceries on top of that.

I once did the same thing in a honda civic! Maxed out at like 120mph around a right turn on the freeway in the middle of nowhere a cop is sitting in the bushes. Lights go on and he pulls out, I get off on the nearest off ramp which is only a minute away, get a green light, pull into an indoor parking structure and wait 20 mins. Never see him again. No time to miss exits in a honda civic since the only thing I had going for me was momentum.

It wouldn't take more than some slight indecision, momentary bad judgement, or lack of awareness from another driver to cause a serious accident.
