Trooper Byrd's Report: On May 24, 2023 approximately 12:52AM, I (Trp. Jacob Byrd) was patrolling on Interstate 30 westbound near Interstate 630 when I entered a Texas tag PGH0050 into ACIC. Upon running the tag, I received a return to a 2021 Jeep. The tag was displayed on a silver Dodge Challenger (V1). As we approached Roosevelt Road on I30WB, V1 decreased his speed into the upper 40's before accelerating at a high rate of speed in excess of 100-mph. At the south interchange, V1 merged onto Interstate 440 eastbound where the driver blacked out, turning the headlights off on V1. V1 continued to flee recklessly at speeds reaching 161-mph confirmed by my front radar. The pursuit continued to Fourche Dam where V1 exited I440EB. V1 fled south on Fourche Dam before turning west onto Frazier Pike. Near the intersection of Frazier Pike and Stout Street, I lost sight of V1 and discontinued the pursuit.

They need to find that guy and offer him a job with the ASP. Driving skills like his could definitely be used on the force and he would be a great partner for Officer Byrd!
I have a suspicion that the driver of that Charger is a former cop driving a ex police Charger with a wing. The way it goes around those corners makes me think it's AWD. Just my opinion.
If you know your car only goes 130 max, why would u keep pursuing them. And i just love how they hop of the highway like they know where they went. Lol
You see patrol cars exceeding 160 mph in these videos. I used to take my 69 Cougar that fast. You're passing tail lights by 100 mph. These cop cars are rock solid. A really big fast Mopar will run out of gas if you just dog him long enough. What are you gonna do at 160+? A pit maneuver? Be real.
Did Byrd see something the viewers can’t? Looked like the chase was done half way through the video but Byrd kept it up for sake of appearances and ego. Nice try pal but this was a 3 minute interlude
these videos don't capture NEARLY what your eyes can in real life. Set your dash cam to even the very highest quality video and film a night time highway drive then compare it to what you actually see, these videos can seem really misleading. On mid-level quality video like this, it's crazy hard to see a blacked out black challenger that far up on the highway at night, but with real eyes you definitely can keep eyes on even a blacked out car at night for a surprisingly long time
yea, the car seemed like it was slipping and sliding everywhere. i remember one pursuit where he was flying down the highway at 155 and the car was taking it like a champ
Nope, if you look closely you can still see the lights flashing in out in the distance when he gets off the interstate and turns at the traffic lights. Hes also following the huge skid marks in the road that show him where the driver has turned
"How does law enforcement keep track of the road runners? Which way did he go?" As far as I can see from other videos, the normal methods are: *It's daytime and easier to see *The runner is held up by traffic *The runner crashes their car *Police helicopters get involved, at which point it is all over for the runner *Enough time to call on the network of other police cars *Generally, the runner is not in a car that can leave you standing when youre doing 140
Cars are already highly electrified to the point where this could be possible if not for the (il)legality of it. There's a fine line between criminal tracking and innocent tracking and I'm not sure we'll get to a point where we'll be comfortable with allowing big brother that much power... not that we always have a choice in the matter.

It's easier to see with your eyes than the camera, and the sound of the exhaust
"How does law enforcement keep track of the road runners? Which way did he go?"
As far as I can see from other videos, the normal methods are:
*It's daytime and easier to see
*The runner is held up by traffic
*The runner crashes their car
*Police helicopters get involved, at which point it is all over for the runner
*Enough time to call on the network of other police cars
*Generally, the runner is not in a car that can leave you standing when youre doing 140
whats more dangerous the wrong tag or chasing someone at that speed even though you have no chance in hell catching him
He just asked the driver, who was walking down the street, which way the Challenger went.
Imagine the days where all cars are electric and once the cop has your license plate he can track your location live. Will be crazy times.
Cars are already highly electrified to the point where this could be possible if not for the (il)legality of it. There's a fine line between criminal tracking and innocent tracking and I'm not sure we'll get to a point where we'll be comfortable with allowing big brother that much power... not that we always have a choice in the matter.

What if the police had a way of firing a GPS tracking device that would stick to the vehicle before it got a chance to escape and dispatch would receive the coordinates to tell Byrd what turns to make to follow. As long as the person being chased didn't have time to pull over, rip the GPS off & continue escaping, Byrd would know where to go instead of guessing.
You’d have to get close to do that, and as most of the time you won’t be able to get close chasing a Challenger
This matter is debatable
Years ago I swearI thought exactly the same as you
The ide is excellent👌, but it only works for stupid people who drive stupidly
And you agree with me
That you can catch them without having to trace them😏
Now comes the biggest problem with the idea👮
With Professional drivers after they getaway At a reasonable distance🏎
they can stop within seconds and remove it
Because the sound of its firing💥 will certainly be heard at the back of the vehicle
Here he can throw it away
Or better, attach it to another vehicle passing by
Thus, you will lose the piece for free and will go after someone else😄
Not to mention that these professionals will have anti-jamming devices
Certainly, the market will be filled with different types of tracking jammers
The idea is certainly excellent in principle
But implementation in reality is almost impossible, and ensuring its effectiveness is weak, it would be like a waste of resources
And believe me, we have drivers for whom even a gun is useless
This is a simple example
