  • Single wide, mobile home, underbelly and vapor barrier repair. Drew’s Roofing And Home Repair of Southport , NC 28461 along with my good friend Paul Skaggs are getting ready to work on a single wide mobile home. This single wide has had a rodent or possum possibly a raccoon underneath the single wide, and has caused significant damage to the Insulation and underbelly. The vapor barrier has been used as a potty. Therefore, urine and animal feces are covering the floor. Therefore, we want to remove the vapor barrier under the single wide mobile home and replace it with a new vapor barrier.

🤔 My dad - the civil engineer - said that vapor barriers in crawlspaces should be on the underside of the floor framing to keep water vapor from penetrating the floor. Humidity will condense on the vapor barrier, drip onto the ground, and drain/dry with reasonable air circulation (which most skirting provides). When you lay the barrier on the ground, you trap the moisture in the ground, creating mud which ultimately weakens the foundation. Has that been your experience? I'd love to get your take on it.

On my house I do not have a Barry on the ground. I think it’s a bad idea personally my ground under my house is Sandy and is very dry without the vapor barrier.
