1:35 for returns or exchanges I have a method that really works for me. Let's use your soda bottles for example... I'd put the bottles in a tote bag and hang it by the door (my mudroom has a row of hooks). If I needed a receipt or other paperwork, I'll put that in the bag too. Or let's say I want to color match something, that goes on the bag. Then I put a sticky note on the outside of the bag with the store name on it. Every time I leave the house, I check the bags... "Am I going by that store?"... Yes! I grab it without looking inside because I know that I'm prepared, everything I need is inside the bag and I don't get anxious. When I get to the store, I look in the bag and head to customer service. No more being embarrassed that I forgot the receipt. 💖🌞🌵😷
I use a clak with crates on it. The one crate is collapsed and inside the other behind the island in my kitchen (small European house) when I need to do a task. How often do Americans return things? In New Zealand you generally only return things if they're faulty. Or is a lot of stuff over there faulty? There is one big store here that lets you return things if you've just changed your mind, but in that case it has to still have the tags on it or still be in the box and I think you have to return within 28 days... This popped up on my feed. Vertical organizational therapy (what I call it as a doctor nearing the end of my career) and decluttering 5 items at a time has helped me tremendously as I read about all the new doctors leaving or setting their boundaries really high and being reassured by the state while older doctors that sacrificed weren't. I wish I got organized twenty five years ago in my life, but it was always a mess due to my profession. Making a plan to leave has improved life tremendously. It is disturbing, to be disorganized, on top of everything else. What a great career you have. Enjoy, you are inspiring to me. Using this trick from now on to clean off all flat surfaces
Definitely a constant! And ever-changing. I was going to note, I understand the goal of clearer flat surfaces, but personally it doesn’t work for me. I try to limit it and am always looking for new ways to do that, but I love not only a bit easier access, but also how pretty my utensils holder is and my woodblock cutting board and knives, so I display them. Other things are nice to keep on my counter as I use them regularly and they’re heavy or simply because I haven’t found a better place for them yet. Constant!
I used to think like that, but I now have almost completely clear counters, and it's great. Such great advice! My kids have their own families now, but when they were young, I made the kitchen counter tops, table and dining room table no clutter zones (yes, I read that in a great article!) That way, they didn't walk in and immediately dump their backpacks and things in the kitchen. Another thing is that everyone had a water bottle to use. Before, I had to walk around the house collecting half full glasses of water. My husband likes to leave piles of clutter around, so I will put the things on a tray in his office so he can figure out what to do with everything (he struggles with ADHD.) Keeping clutter under control is a constant battle!!
I feel like it’s essential for us with ADHD- clean up as you go helps you focus because it minimizes the visual confusion of too many items out at once. Over time, your brain prefers less clutter and it gets easier to put things away as you go. It helps a lot with anxiety too.

Love that sweatshirt! I was so distracted by it, i had to follow your link and add it to my wishlist before i could focus on the content of the video. 😁
Our older home doesn't have cabinets with sufficient height between shelves to store appliances like stand mixers, air fryers, coffee makers, etc. While I'd love to have things put away off the counters, it just can't happen here.
Wow! That whole idea of just putting things on the dining room table before making a decision. It makes me relieved and I can actually start working on the kitchen! Great advice!
Overall, I agree. But if you go thru basic oils quickly, you're using fast enough it won't go bad. But things like flavored oils should definitely be in dark place.
@@VAwitch I agree. The more different oils I have, the longer it takes to use up each bottle completely and therefore I store them all at a dark place.
Have you thought of coordinating the functional items you like with your decor so when/if you leave it out it looks nice. Like a nice olive oil bottle and nice salt/pepper shakers.
@wodi28179 I agree! Doing anything in a clean, clutter free kitchen makes cooking easier and more pleasant. I learned in HS Home Ec to fill a sink or dishpan with hot sudsy water to clean as you go. (Frankly, that's all I remember from that class. 😂😂)
I understand your thinking about salt, pepper and olive oil, but here's my thoughts.... You leave your dish soap in pretty bottles on the counter in that cute little tray (so do I), so why not set up a little tray by the stove for these too? Truthfully when I visit a kitchen when those things are missing (aka put away) I think that there must not be much cooking going on here.💖🌞🌵😷
You've never seen a professional kitchen at the end of a shift, then, after everything has been cleaned up and put away? Good chefs don't work in cluttered kitchens. They start cooking by getting out the ingredients and tools that they need, not by reaching for a jar of utensils on the counter or the bottle of oil by the stove.
@@GeeEee75 , so, I guess you've never seen Gordon Ramsay's "Kitchen Nightmares" TV shows... The reason they put everything away like that is to keep the mice and cockroaches away. I don't have problems with pests in my home. And I love to show off my pretty oil bottles, and salt & pepper shakers. The crock I keep my cooking utensils in was the one my great-grandmother used. Probably if I didn't have that crock, my utensils would probably live in a drawer, but every time I reach for something, I think of her. When I started out, there was no way I could afford a $300 stand mixer. It now has a place of honor on my counter because I saved a long time to pay for it and when I look at it, I feel a huge accomplishment. It lives in the back of the counter that isn't used. I'm petite and it's uncomfortable for my arms to reach that far, so it sits in a space I don't use anyway. Besides, I don't think Gordon will be visiting my kitchen any time soon, so I think I'm safe leaving out the things that I love. Sending lots of love 💖 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵. Take care of yourself and each other 😷.
@@suzisaintjames You missed my point, which was that great cooking does happen in kitchens with clear counters. The irony here is that you think I'm judging you (I'm not. You can keep whatever you want on your kitchen counter), but you're the one judging people who keep their kitchens clear of clutter!
@@GeeEee75 , 🤔 hmmm? Judging, not judging... I just know a LOT of people who didn't know how to cook before 2020. And their kitchens were bare. Now they cook and they have a few appliances (not clutter) on their counters. And great cooking happens wherever there's great cooks... Even outside, where there are no counters! 💖🌞🌵😷
@suzisaintjames You specifically said that clear counters = no cooking. 🙄 My point stands. You can't judge a person's cooking frequency by the number of knick knacks they put on their counters, or if they're tidy, and put things away, instead of having stuff out, gathering oil, dirt and dust.
Soda stream has an exchange program on their website that's very cost effective if you exchange in pairs. You send in your empty bottles and they send you full ones. ... Worth checking to see if their bottles will fit your machine. 💖🌞🌵😷
How do you reckon those cannisters get to Soda Stream (clue: somebody has to pack them up then take them to the post office). It's not any easier than taking them to a store to exchange.
@@GeeEee75 no... You pay, they send you full bottles, you put the empty bottles in the now empty box, you stick on the return lable that comes with the full bottles and put it in the mailbox (within 60 days). The mail carrier picks it up on his next day in your neighborhood. No trip to the post office.
Great tips. I like my kitchen worktops to be tidy & it really stresses me out when they’re not. I only have a few items on my worktops, such as a toaster, kettle (A typical item in a British kitchen) & a Winnie the Pooh cookie jar. The only time they get untidy is when I get home from shopping & unload my shopping trolley. Often when I’m watching a programme in the telly one of the first things I notice are how cluttered their worktops are.
Just realized you changed your name 😢 For some reason I miss the "But first, Coffee". Can't really explain it, but it was different than the "modern" RUclipsr Names these days ❤
I agree😢 I worry it will lose potential newbies because not everyone is a mom or just not at that little kids stage. People will assume it’s mom based.
Same! I don't even like coffee, but I loved the original name. It really stood out. I don't have kids (by choice) but I relate so much to this channel, and the name being unrelated to motherhood was actually what drew me to it. Absolutely nothing against motherhood, I just don't think I would have clicked on it if it had been this name at the time.
Too funny because as I watch this, I’m looking over my kitchen counter, which is totally covered in dishes that need to go in the dishwasher My least favorite job is emptying the dishwasher and putting dishes away because my back hurts so much So now my dishwasher is going to be full again, and this starts the cycle all over again
I will never have a completely empty sink, dishes get done every night but as soon as they are done dishes start filtering from every ones room so I wake up to a few dishes everyday, same with counters people just put stuff there after the fact
I tried writing down all these habits, and I only heard 11. I think I missed some. I've rewatched twice and still only hear 11 😅 Can someone tell me what they are? Xxxx
iI'm dring myself crazy trying to figure out what that "aero box" or whatever you called it, is???? It was one of the first things you put back so it must be important. What is it???
When you are so space challenged that you can't put things in your cupboards or drawers because you don't have any -.-'. I have one drawer, that cannot possibly hold everything I use on the daily. I have cupboards, sure, two of them. I can only use half because my mum cannot reach the upper two shelves. I have to leave the stuff on the counter so she can access it, particularly the items she uses every day. It's not impossible, some things being on the counters is functional. Like a measuring cup (the glass kind) or a spoon rest. Also, heavy items that take more effort to move than to work around, ie, a microwave or a stand mixer.
Putting stuff on the dining table would absolutely not work for me because I would get distracted and forget it's there. ^^" #AuDHD Here is my 3 step plan for taming an out of control kitchen: 1. Throw away any rubbish. It doesn't need to be here, it's just getting in the way. 2. Put away any clean crockery and anything that's on the counters and shouldn't be. It can go away and stop being clutter. 3. Empty+reload the dishwasher and/or do the washing up and/or stack dirties next to the sink. Now you have a garbage free kitchen, with everything that can be away away, and all the dirties tamed. For bonus points, wipe down your counters and organise your fridge.
I wish I had the storage for clear countertops but my whole kitchen has maybe 4 cabinets with the worlds worst layout and exactly two small drawers. Leaving a cup with cooking utensils on the counter is just a sacrifice I have to make.
Those cookbooks are going to get stained and greasy. They are obvious items to be put away. Not sure why they are left out. I’d rather have my coffee pot.
I think she's said in the past that she likes seeing the cookbooks so they're out as one of her few "decorations". I'm with you though as far as using a coffee maker more.
Yep, I have ADHD and my dining table is where the clutter creeps most. Being an 8 seater table, it's the largest flat surface in my house so it's where everything gets sorted from and where things get put that I don't have an idea of where to store. Over the last year and a half, I've noticed that I dont know where things are stored in other people's homes to apply it into mine and therefore everything lives anywhere it's not supposed to. I also dont have much storage space in the house and it's rented so I dont want to be damaging walls putting shelves up, because I've found the plaster crumbles if its drilled into too much. I've had 2 curtain poles fall down and a stair gate fall out of the wall at the bottom of the stairs only half an hour after it was installed. All 3 times I have needed my stepdad to help with getting plaster and filling the gaping holes left behind because of the cavity between the outside single brick walls. Long story short, my minimalist housing officer doesnt like my 'hoarding' (aka ADHD clutter) 🙄😮💨 Sorry for the ranty ramble! 😅
@ReapersBaby I try to be "minimalist" so that I don't have as much on my table, but it is still there. I can't get rid of everything. LOL. Right now there is a bunch of appliances, folded laundry, and important papers on the table.
I have been on both sides, stay at home mom five days a week and full-time working mom five days a week. Both are equally challenging with equal amount of time to get stuff done. When nobody is in the home, it is slightly less cleaning because there is less traffic overall
"Counters are not really shelves..."

Been really loving your kitchen decluttering, organizing, and meal planning videos. I request a video about your seltzer maker. We are giving up all diet sodas & diet drinks. We’re buying lots of overpriced unflavored sparkling water. 😊
Good tips. For me, it's the Keurig and tea kettle.
Love that sweatshirt! I was so distracted by it, i had to follow your link and add it to my wishlist before i could focus on the content of the video. 😁
My sister loves your videos ❤
Thanks for your videos. I always need to come back to get my motivation to clean up my stuffs.
Where were you? Extremely pleasantly surprised that a young man like you of this generation has got his priorities this Crystal clear.
Very good 😃👌 May I mention that oil should be stored dark and therefore should go back into the cupboard after use anyway? 😁
Good ideas. Thank you 🙏
Have you thought of coordinating the functional items you like with your decor so when/if you leave it out it looks nice. Like a nice olive oil bottle and nice salt/pepper shakers.
Yep, I always start at the fridge and move clockwise around the room.
Good tips!👍
The kitchen has to be spotless with all the dishes washed before I can even cook. 😂 AND I clean as I go while cooking. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@wodi28179 I agree! Doing anything in a clean, clutter free kitchen makes cooking easier and more pleasant. I learned in HS Home Ec to fill a sink or dishpan with hot sudsy water to clean as you go. (Frankly, that's all I remember from that class. 😂😂)
Cleaning as you go is such a game changer!
Thank you! Love your ideas! I use so many of your suggestions.
Anyone know: Is Kallie expecting again or is some of this older footage (near the start of the video, in the kitchen)? If she is, congrats, Kallie!
She is expecting a 4th and she's due in Sept
That's what I was wondering! Congrats to you Kallie!
Ah yay!!
I was wondering! Congratulations Kallie!
Old person here…good content, thank you.
Are you having baby # 4 coming soon? Happy for you 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I understand your thinking about salt, pepper and olive oil, but here's my thoughts....

I love this video 😊
May I ask you what the appliance on the left of the stove? Toaster oven air fryer? Thanks
I don't even have my toaster out, and my kettle sits on top of the fridge.
Just realized you changed your name 😢 For some reason I miss the "But first, Coffee".
Can't really explain it, but it was different than the "modern" RUclipsr Names these days ❤
I am a coffee enthusiast that's all🎉 . No coffee no workee 😂
I agree😢 I worry it will lose potential newbies because not everyone is a mom or just not at that little kids stage. People will assume it’s mom based.
I agree.
Good reminder that organizing and decluttering is maintenance. Anybody who said that cluttered countertops dont bother them is fibbing. 😊❤
Too funny because as I watch this, I’m looking over my kitchen counter, which is totally covered in dishes that need to go in the dishwasher
My least favorite job is emptying the dishwasher and putting dishes away because my back hurts so much
So now my dishwasher is going to be full again, and this starts the cycle all over again
Didn’t know you changed your channel name
Baby #4 coming?
If you have a cold, hope you feel better soon.
I love your content so much but my brain just can’t keep up. Can you start listing the tips in the description?
What happened to But First Coffee?
She updated the channel name last week or week before, to reflect where she's at in life now.
What is the aro box?
I will never have a completely empty sink, dishes get done every night but as soon as they are done dishes start filtering from every ones room so I wake up to a few dishes everyday, same with counters people just put stuff there after the fact
I tried writing down all these habits, and I only heard 11. I think I missed some. I've rewatched twice and still only hear 11 😅 Can someone tell me what they are? Xxxx
iI'm dring myself crazy trying to figure out what that "aero box" or whatever you called it, is???? It was one of the first things you put back so it must be important. What is it???
aro box...she has it linked in the notes.
You changed your name 😢 i liked but first coffee
See those pieces of counter on either side of your stove....that's all the counter space i have....very frustrating
That's tiny, do you have room for a rolling cart or the older style of bakery cabnit?
Or look for something to partially cover the stove
I have similar and it's all the more important to keep the space free of clutter.
My kitchen is always messy because Im lazy Im heat stroked from a hot apt. Nice try though miss.☺️
Woah wait.... when did the channel name change? 😳
In this video when you were filling your salt there is something that looks like a roach running behind . Is it?
I don't think so; if you put it in slow motion you will see that whenever it is "runs" across the air where the countertops are
It's the top of a kids head 😂
❤
Putting stuff on the dining table would absolutely not work for me because I would get distracted and forget it's there. ^^" #AuDHD
Here is my 3 step plan for taming an out of control kitchen:
What happened to "But First, Coffee"??? Why the channel name change?
She changed the name to something she can relate to better. Just recently
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Those cookbooks are going to get stained and greasy. They are obvious items to be put away. Not sure why they are left out. I’d rather have my coffee pot.
I think she's said in the past that she likes seeing the cookbooks so they're out as one of her few "decorations". I'm with you though as far as using a coffee maker more.
The coffee pot is right next to the cookbooks in the appliance garage.
The only thing I need to keep my kitchen clean is to find a way to keep my retired husband out of it. 😉
I nearly missed this video. I didn't realise you had changed your name.
Or were those old videos??
What if your dining room table is full of stuff!?? 😔
This doss not work for an ADHD person. Lol. I clean by putting things on dining table and i lose motivation before i clear the table
Yes that wouldn't work for me either. ^^" But the idea of the convenience illusion + clutter creep is useful for me.
Long story short, my minimalist housing officer doesnt like my 'hoarding' (aka ADHD clutter) 🙄😮💨
Sorry for the ranty ramble! 😅
@ReapersBaby I try to be "minimalist" so that I don't have as much on my table, but it is still there. I can't get rid of everything. LOL. Right now there is a bunch of appliances, folded laundry, and important papers on the table.
@@ReapersBabyhopefully your step dad taught you how to use a stud finder 🥰
@@cassidydavis4421sounds like walls are plaster over brick masonry-European construction probably-no studs to find.
4:31 😂
I DEFINITELY need to reorganize my kitchen I have so much I don't use
Crap….your dinning room table isn’t also full of stuff….😬
Omg is Callie pregnant again?
yes but some of this is old footage
Have as few things as possible. People have too much stuff these days. If there’s no home for it, don’t buy it.
Love your videos, but when you said your kids were in school five days a week, I understood why you have time to clean. Great Ideas though.
I think her channel is like having a full time job. Some people just always find the time to clean.
The channel I’m sure is a full time job maybe even more. Ur doing amazing ❤
She has a new baby.
I have been on both sides, stay at home mom five days a week and full-time working mom five days a week. Both are equally challenging with equal amount of time to get stuff done. When nobody is in the home, it is slightly less cleaning because there is less traffic overall
she has a new baby and a full time job
You have the most confusing kitchen layout. I’ve never seen one like it
You still sound like you aren’t 100%.
She's pregnant again. She posted it on Instagram.
I don't mean to be snoopy, or anything, but..are you pregnant??
She is. She posted it on Instagram recently. However, she does use a lot of old footage so some of that is from baby number 3.
