I am a 78 YO lady who always has a cluttered kitchen. Never enough time I say. While watching this vid I got up and emptied my sink and put some stuff away. It was nice to go to bed knowing that I won’t be getting up to a mess because unlike your I am not a morning person. Thanks for all your great tips. I appreciate your energy as well.

As a woman old enough to be your mother, I just want you to know how much I appreciate seeing you take pen to paper and write things down.. Apps are great, and I use some myself, but the act of writing actually helps cement thoughts into our brain, helping us to learn and retain information. Also, as a person with a paper crafting hobby, I have a deep love for paper. Anytime paper can be used, it should be, IMO.
So, write on, Kallie. And, don't forget to leave some of your lists for your children to cherish after you are gone. Believe me; they will. ~ Lisa

Learning how to say no is the best gift to give to yourself. I finally got the courage to say no when I was in my late 30’s. It’s surprising how easy it is to do. If someone asked me to participate in something I didn’t want to do I’d just say, “ no, I can’t do that.” It kind of takes them off guard but it shuts them up. Lol. We all have to recognize our limitations and adjust accordingly. I’m 61 now and “no” is definitely not a problem anymore. ;)

Since I am in the middle of decluttering, my rule when I bring boxes or bags into my house is that I must declutter to fill it, and send it back out the door. Whether or not it was full when it came in, or even if it had groceries that were double-bagged, I must fill each to keep the flow of items going out of my house instead of accumulating into clutter again.

I am a total night owl, but our household lifestyle is definitely for early birds.
A tip that helps alleviate some of the morning tiredness is to set an alarm that increases gradually as part of the melody. Blaring jump scare alarms have been proven to trigger your fight/flight instinct and adrenaline. Once the adrenaline subsides, you are drained of energy.

It’s a very smart idea, when I wake up if my kitchen and living room is clean, I get more done that day. I will automatically get started with a load of laundry or something without even thinking about it. One thing that’s helps me, if I’ve not unloaded the clean dishes in the dishwasher, because I hate unloading, I wash the dirty dishes out completely and then turn them upside down in one side of the sink, until I get around to putting up the clean dishes. I don’t dread it as much if they’re not covered in food. My husband and I like being home, and we save so much money staying home. We make sure to spend time with family, and we save up for something nice every now and then and worth going out for. I love your ideas. I made a list of them, and I’m gonna work on them.

Saying no reminds me of a story that my tutor told us at college. He called it 'The road to Abilene' where a group of people had planned a trip to Abilene and in the car journey there one of them asked 'Why are we going to Abilene?' Anyway as the story unfolds it transpires that not one of them really wanted to go but said yes because they thought the others wanted to go and didn't want to be left out!

I never feel better sleeping 9 more minutes and instead now, make my coffee, empty my dishwasher (that I ran the night before 😉👍) and workout!! All before the rest of my family gets up. I feel great! And I haven’t looked this good for many years! Goodbye covid fluff (weight I had gained).

i have also adopted the "no more snooze button" idea, but have ADAPTED it in a way that benefits me, a non-morning person. I hit snooze ONCE and in that time that I'd otherwise try to go back to sleep, I allow myself to wake gradually and purposefully by doing some morning stretches and mindful breathing, while thinking out my plans for the day. Then when the snooze alarm goes off this time, it's time to get moving, but with a better, more productive and focused first few minutes of the day than before, and I am better prepared for the day (a more productive and positive way to use those 9 minutes)

I am 28 yo. I moved from house to apartment 3 times smaller. Sport do getting rid of I think 80% of the stuff I do not use I do as I call it a “trash bag look around” which I do usually once a month. I just take a trash bag and I go to all 3 room in the apartment and pick up the things I do not use and also trash unfortunately most of the time. I my space is way more tidy. What is the best… I found it a really freeing experience. Nothing too overboard. Just clean up the things I do not really use and that just clutter my space. I feel way more peaceful since I started doing it. I started watching you videos 2 months before downsizing and it helped me a lot with moving but also with Me. It has been 1 year since I started but I must say that it really changed me, I pay attention more to what I need to do, who I want to be not what I have. So THANK YOU! And I am keeping up with my journey. I am living at my mothers apartment so until I will move out it will not be the state I want it to be but I feel like I said way more FREE. Thank You!! Hugs!! ❤❤❤❤

The self-covering dog is one of the cutest things I’ve seen in quite awhile. What skill! 😄
Cardboard boxes... When I returned to the place I love most, I arrived 4 days after the start of a horrendous wildfire, which caused hundreds to have to evacuate. This meant that after my two-week stay in a lodge I love, there were very few places available to live. I literally moved in to the only vacancy I could find. My intent was to rent briefly, while searching for a little plot of land to place my forever home. Then 2020 happened. One day after I started my search for a home or some land, my town shut down. Need I say more?
So, like you, I did more online shopping than ever before, and the boxes began to pile up. But, rather than donate them, I’ve created a neatly packed cardboard tower in a somewhat inconspicuous corner of a room. It is my inspiration for the future. I am still renting the only place I could find, because not enough people in my area have been fully vaccinated, for me to feel comfortable house-hunting. But every time I look at my cardboard tower, I am encouraged that some sense of normalcy will soon return, and when it does, those boxes will carry all the belongings I’ve accumulated to that forever home I still seek.

Comment number 1. The night b4, take out breakfast ingredients and dinner ingredients, that won't spoil.. After breakfast go ahead and make dinner while the kitchen is dirty. This way you avoid the 4:00, "I'm exhausted and don't want to figure out what's for dinner" problem. This way you can clean the kitchen once. You will be more rested for the evening clean up of dinner dishes and have more time for your family.

When we leave our kitchen after dinner, I have ensured all dirty dishes are in the dishwasher and I’ve started it. I don’t use heated dry, so at some point, I go in and open the door and pull the racks out to dry off. In the morning (yes, I am a morning person), I empty the dishwasher before starting breakfast. I don’t have dirty dishes in the sink as I load my dishwasher as we go. Typically, I have only one load to wash, as we r a 3 person family, but if I do have more than one, I switch to short cycle and wash and empty before the next meal prep. I am also a clean as you go kind of cook, so I don’t have a huge mess to tackle at the end of the meal. I learned these lessons from my mom, so I was fortunate to be able to set these habits early in my life! TFS!

#8 - slowing down. I am so ready for this. I traveled & hosted way too much this year to play catch-up from 2020 shutdowns. I had a great time while I was there but it always wears me out when I get home. Then the work and chores always pile up and I don’t feel like I have the time for self care or setting goals and intentions. Always in go mode. After my cousins wedding I am taking it easy for at least half a year and when I do pick back up, I am going to start using vacation bumpers to have a day prior for cleaning and a day after for decompressing and appreciating the time I had on vacation and the time I get at home.

We've been trying to pay down medical and school loan debt for a decade, even after bankruptcy for medical it's just too much. Definitely checking out the debt video!
It's sad how once we stopped going out to clubs and restaurants with friends they dropped off like flies. People we thought of as family and our "best" friends. Turns out when you make healthy choices you quickly discover who is not ride or die. We felt really bad and like something was wrong with us for a long time but we started to notice the toxic patterns they were stuck in. Inconsistent stressful lives and obsessed with highschool drama now into their 30s and 40s. We actually still miss some of them but they aren't willing to compromise. Still in same habits and they come off as very envious of the stability and quality in our lives. Most of them have more money/less fiscal responsibility than us but because they don't want to slow down and adjust they might stay unsatisfied. So great tips! 🙂

Thanks for your channel! I spent some time this morning doing things I tell myself I'll do later: cutting some fruit that was getting overripe, cleaning the stove top (which never happens because I use my stove so often, which means I needed to do it...), unloading the dishwasher... Sometimes it is more efficient for me to do stuff in the morning, when I have more energy, than to do it the night before. But I definitely enjoy having a clean kitchen to walk into in the morning, so it depends on exactly what I need to do the next day that I decide if I'll take care of it at night.

Bullet journals are a fantastic way to stay organized. It takes a little bit to set up, but once you've taken the time to create all of your pages, it's such a blessing to have! I'm on my 2nd one and have been able to customize it even more after my 1st one. You can include habit trackers, goals, and other pages to stay organized. I take it everywhere with me in case I need something from it. There's a RUclips video from Ryder Carroll on how to set it up. It's been a life changer for me! Hope this helps someone else. :D

A suggestion for those that already get up earlier than is probably healthy. Get everything organised and prepared for your morning routine. Lunch made, clothes out, underwear on top, shoes in their place, your pocket things ready, etc. Then wake up and get a brew started.
Simplifying your uniform/workwear, lunches and carried items saves you prep time. If it means buying a second something just so it's always in your bag, then so be it. I'm all for being minimal, but time is scarce and sleep is important.

It sounds crazy to mute your friends, bu I live an hour away from my friend group so I don't get the pleasure of random pop in visits or unexpected Thursday night bonfires. It would trigger me some times so I muted them. It's helped alot and I've learned to love my own time rather than wishful thinking. I’m in process of declutter in my house. I tend to get so overwhelmed before I even get started and can’t ever get started but I’ve had enough!!
I do believe clutter weighs on the soul.
What works for me is I grab an empty laundry basket (1/kid) and start tossing their stuff in em… also have basket for misc items … then I take the basket to their room and unload it. That’s easiest for me, as I can get overwhelmed having to gather, separate, gather, separate… this way it’s already separated by room when I’m ready to put it away instead of making 5 trips.
I’ve been getting it done, taking it one side of the room at a time… hardest part is getting started but once you get going it’s so rewarding

I've never been a Martha. I'm a Mary. I don't get tied up in busy things just to be busy. I sit and listen. I focus on conversations and visitors. I don't answer spam calls. I almost never look at email since I retired. It's mostly just advertisements now. If I use email, it's for a specific purpose. I almost never even give out my email address. When I do get up to get things done, I can't do much because of a disability...so I pick and choose very intentionally.
I love listening to you! ❤ You inspire me to try to do more. I know my limits, though. Since my illness came over me, it's been hard to figure that balance...of what I can and cannot do, but I've got it now. I used to see on the side of pushing myself to do more...or what I used to be able to do. I ended up in the hospital more than once (actually several times) by doing that. Now I err on the side of doing less. God found a way to accommodate my Mary-ness!☺

I LOVE this channel and Callie you are soooo realistic. My life is a complete disaster! Lol. From being 44, having adopted my deceased bff's 12 year old, just losing my mom in September, having my bff's 30 yr old son on oxygen recovering from almost losing him from Covid n a live in boyfriend who is Butterfingers n should never touch anything but plastic and having a home up North yes I'm crazy! Oh n did I mention I live on half an acre with both yards grassed n surrounded by bushes? I binged watched every video n loved them. Since mom couldn't get rid of alot of dad's stuff (he passed in Aug of '17) n now faced with my moms stuff, who was my better half n everything is emotional your videos helped so much! Dad taught us to be diy's from finishing the basement, to cars to landscaping etc so I have many good organization skills but boy did you help. But I wanted to add a helpful rule which applies to every category. BEST GOLDEN RULE EVER........
If you haven't used it in a year, recycle it, donate it, toss it, get rid of it because after a year you either don't need it, won't find it if you do, if clothing/shoes you don't like it otherwise you'd have worn it or it was a use once n never again. That Golden Rule is subject to 2 sub rules. If you paid over $100 for it, I put a piece of tape or paper on it with today's date n if a year goes by again no use out it goes. Second sub rule is ALWAY APPLY COMMON SENSE, ie NEVER discard the flower from your wedding bouquet, moms funeral, expensive jewelry, cremains, irreplaceable emotional mementos (use common sense you really don't need entire wedding bouquet hanging upside down slowly falling apart, keep one flower as it serves purpose, expensive jewelry you hate or inherited don't keep when it would serve better made into something you like OR can trade/sell for something useful or save for retirement). I applied this rule to your ideas Callie n slowly my home is becoming functional! No more fighting over who the poor family member is who gets stuck finding something in a closet or cupboard where open throw n slam applied!!! Thank you Callie your a GEM!

Officially for a week I’ve been on top of things. lol I’ve got a simple system down that has made me constantly have a fairly clean house. I wake to a clean organized house. And even my toddler has created a habit of putting away toys as he plays. He knows we only bring out a few toys at a time. Put them away and then we also pick up before nap, going outside, and before dinner/bed. Having a picked up house makes it super easy to do a quick vacuum. And making sure dishes/dw ran every night means while I’m making coffee I unload and put them away. And the days dirty dishes go in the dw which means a constantly clean/empty kitchen sink. Which then prompts me to keep clean countertops and which then leads to keep all trash/snack wrappers picked up. And making my bed every morning helps me feel relaxed at nights. During our toddlers wind down time before bed I take advantage of his staying put by putting away the clean laundry. And I keep a small basket for dirty, once it’s full it has to be washed/dried.
