Also, you can just put a rubber band around stuff you put in the freezer. I do that all the time. They work just fine in there.
Or the paper covered metal twist ties from the grocery store .
I have had my kids laugh at me for saving the twist ties on the loaf of bread and I have used those to tie up cords from chargers, appliances and the like having that extra is fine, but the extra can be dangerous too, by having something catch on it and the idea of falling or someone getting hurt is not an option ever.
That's exactly what I do. I save rubber bands from produce, then use them for bags in the freezer.
Me too
Me too!
If you want to save a piece of cake or pie, take a Rubbermaid bowl with a lid put the pie or cake on the lid then place the bowl over upside down , cheaper and more sturdy than plastic wrap
This is the best top I've heard in a long time. So common sense that I never thought of.
I do this too! For larger items, I’ve also used mixing bowls or casserole dishes that come with lids, although, they are heavier to work with.
I do the same for my cats wet food. If there is just a little left on the plate I invert the bowl to cover. It works every time
❤ this!
***BREAKING NEWS!*** Plastic Wrap taking over kitchen’s across the North East. Bakers are furious and suing the company. More at 11:00.
If you put butter in the pan when you reheat the pizza and use a cast iron pan, you get a buttery crispy yummy yummy piece of pizza
I like it when you just heat it in the toaster oven for 5min so good N soft.
Packing tape hack... Use a paperclip on the end. It's reusable able and better than folding an end because it doesn't waste tape.
or a breadclip, we have those in Holland, or just a hard piece of plastic
I use a penny.
Or zip tie😊 around the roll of tape
Paper plate for spatter guard in micro... works wonders... doesn't get hot either
Yes. The super cheap ones from the Dollar Store.
When I have rust spots on my knives, I use a small bit of barkeepers friend on a wet sponge and rub it on the blade. It removes the spots beautifully.
I throw it away and get a new one.
YA KNOW…. I discovered this alllll by myself…..as I ran out of Barkeepers Friend which I LOVE….I had a “Mr. Clean Sponge” those white melamine sponges…..I forget the actual brand name of them but I know u know what i mean….anywho…..it was all I had and VOILA! A wee scrub and that rust was GONE….AND, bonus, when you get that white “haze” on your glasses from the dishwasher, those white Mr. Clean Sponges work like MAGIC ….oh is that what they are called? MAGIC ErASER? Hmmm, any way…these work awesome opossum to take that haze off of your white haze glasses. Like having brand new glasses! We have super hard water and I do my glasses about once a month. 10/10👍🏼
Salt, wet the item then rub salt on, most homes always have salt
Lime and salt
If that doesn’t work then add tequila
We use the extra large binder clips that u get from the office section. Fold bag down and apply binder clip. Lots more uses then just in the office.
I use them on the end of toothpaste as I roll it-instead of purchasing that toothpaste roller device
Picture hanging hack! Brilliant! 🙌
i use clothespins as bag clips.. the ones from the dollar store. they never fall off even in the freezer 😅
I use binder clips, they come in different sizes for different size bags and they won’t come off in the freezer
Same here -- have been doing so for 20 years !!!
I also use clothespins but the bottom of my freezer is littered with broken pins. 😂 (it's not me doing it) 😂😂
That's a great idea!!
@@Vonadean Try wooden ones! They can keep up with the freezing cold!
Keeping bags closed - binder clips for the win.
The masking tape hack is a great one.
You can try putting the whole bunch of garlic in a small jar and gently shaking the paper off.
Don’t forget to wipe out the nuker after cooking something in it that will create a lot of steam. Some microwave ovens will rust.
Yes, I use binder clips too. Smaller than chip clips and stronger too
You can also use a straw you just cut on one side.
For bigger straws i noticed at 7-11,they've BIG THICK STRAWS right where you get your Slurpees at. They work just like what she is showing with that green one.
@@robertanesmith172You can get 4 at the Dollar Tree.
Plus you can use a 3 ring binder clip, hang it inside of your cupboard then hang up your measure spoons N much more.
You can use them under the kitchen stink, bathroom stink door inside the medicine cabinet too.
I got a great print out that I framed in my laundry for the laundry symbols.
I hope you use the masking tape pack to hang it
me too
@@lindamonahan1704 lol😂
Cute idea.💡Thanks.☺️
I used to work at The Olive Garden and we packaged the deserts for the fridge using a cellophane bubble- the plate would sit in the center of the wrap and you would pull the sides together and twist them together while whipping the open sides under the plate.
It was a skill that my friend made an art.
I just put a bowl upside down over the cake plate or any other food. Bonus, if it's a glas bowl, bc this way you can see what's underneath, but every bowl does the job. No plastic needed.
I love using an air fryer to reheat pizza. It, hands down, makes it taste as close to being fresh out of the oven as possible. Many times my reheated pizza in there almost tastes better than when it was freshly made.
You don’t need to use vinegar or lemon juice to steam your microwave. Just use water, the other things make absolutely no difference.
I use my hand held steam cleaner.
I use my rug cleaner, ha. Just kidding, who needs another appliance to create steam when that’s what the microwave does?
Just water will def work but I still use lemon in the water because it pulls the yukky smells out of the microwave.
The acidity of either lemon juice or vinegar helps in cutting grease. The lingering lemon smell is great, not so much with vinegar, but they are both very effective.
@@lovemygrands11 nope, the steam has no acidity in it. It’s just steam. Lemon juice is a mild degreaser if you actually rub it full strength on greasy areas, but not nearly as effective as detergent. The lemon scent going through the microwave fan may help with odors, I guess.
I'm a 52 yr old grandma and I have never heard nor come up with a more clever trick for hanging pictures! I sure could have used you around 30 years ago ( it would have saved me a lot of spackling holes lol) but hey better late than never! Thank you! I'm not easily impressed but I think you're a very clever young lady! You go, girl lol
There are so many hacks on hanging pictures.
Just look up hacks on them I've seen so many easier ones, then this one you'll be surprised. FR
Dont throw those lemon slices away after cleaning your microwave. After they've cooled a bit, grind them in your garbage disposal for a quick refresh to get rid of any accumulated odors.
THE BABBBYYYY!!! Oh my gosh those babies are twins 🥹
Love this. I smush a garlic clove with the side of a large knife. Clove pops out of paper easily.
It works every time, but better on the larger pieces.
This is the method I was taught by my Mom 40+ years ago - still works perfectly every time. 🙌🏽
I’m disabled and now I throw all the garlic in a mason jar and shake the heck out of it. I like it better than the knife smash I used to use.
Great phone hacks❤ and put left over pizza in your air fryer if you have one and if you don’t what are you waiting for? It’s the best kitchen gadget ever!!! Put left over pizza in air fryer for a few mins and it’s better than when it’s fresh!!!
Well...... The 'tape hack' is going to be a game changer for me! 👍
Well y’all sounds great to this southerner! 😂😂😂
Loved the tape suggestion! I use an old bread clip to put at the end but having something that would help with the tear is genius. I appreciate even more that you shared things that didn’t work! Thanks!
I bought the tooth paste caps for my kids and honestly the biggest game changer!!! They love it too cause they get the right amount of tooth paste. Thank you 😊
⚗ The chemist's trick! Yes, the first "hack" is taught to chemistry students. A funnel is always great to have, but if you don't...this works, too. Just be sure to pour SLOWLY down the glass or plastic rod you are using. Otherwise, it defeats the purpose. Chemistry involves a lot of math and science, but it also requires a great deal of fine eye-hand coordination and strength.
I prefer to use a funnel from the dollar store rather than making a mess with a "hack."
I don't mind handling garlic with bare hands. It works for me because I don't mind smelling of it. YMMV, of course.
If you have a stainless steel sink, just rub your hands on it to get rid of the garlic smell.
Another photo during video hack is some phones let you take photos from already made videos, I have a Samsung and have been able to do this
I’d bet that toothpaste roller would work on a tube of tomato paste, anchovy paste, etc. - they are so expensive, it would be great to get every last smidgen out!
And don't forget to cut the end off and scrape out the rest of the knife when you're all done with the squeezing
How about for the frozen items, cut the top 1 inch think. Pour out how much you want. Gather the opening side together, twist tight to remove air and use the strip of bag to tie it closed. It won't open and your food stays cold without adding more frost.
I use coffee filters for a lot of things! Put one on the microwave tray, and spray it with water to make it lie flat. It catches a lot of drips and splatters.
Also a good DIY tea bag for loose tea (use thread/string to close).
Your babies are so cute!! God bless them and congratulations on the new one on the way.
Try the Marna White Piggy Steamer to cover microwave items. It's silicone, stays cool to the touch. Extremely durable. i've had mine for more than 10 years and is still like new. We reheat our pizza in the pannini press.
The pill bottle I knew about already. Got tired of looking for something to poke the foil then one day it just hit me... the little opening tab that sticks out a bit. Easy open ever since.
I literally have no pill bottles with that type of cap. :(
Laying a wet paper towel or coffee filter over whatever you are reheating in the microwave is the best way that I have found. No messes in the microwave and it keeps your food moist.
I do that!!! 🎉❤
I live with crazy people who do not follow this . They prefer DESTROYING the microwave
I use cheap paper plates to cover whatever is being microwaved to help reduce or eleminate splatters.
It's not environmentally friendly though.
I use wax paper to cover when I microwave.
And creating more rubbish for our planet.
@@FrogeniusW.G. I just use a reusable splatter shield when its needed. Anything with a red sauce is the main culprit for splatters in our house, so if it has a red sauce use the shield and if not then it can go in without. If it does make a mess then clean it asap before it cools too much and is harder to clean
I have a dollar tree cover for the microwave
About the garlic, why do you think you’re wasting it? Take the messed up pieces throw it in a jar with olive oil and let it sit there. You’ll eventually have olive flavored garlic, and garlic, flavored olive oil that you could use in cooking.
I like the tip for the shipping tape. It can be used for more than shipping, so I can do it myself. For topping refried beans in the microwave, I use a tortilla. This keeps things clean and provides an edible lid.
Genius idea.
Clever!! Thanks!
Love that idea!
I’ve been using the small bag clips as toothpaste rollers. The caps are genius!
The iphone tips! MINDBLOWN!!!!! And the pizza reheat...I'm all about that! A must-try! Thank you, Callie!
The plant one isn’t always right
Hack for the cake...my mom puts in a few toothpicks then lays the plastic wrap
I did that and one of my sons stuck the inside of his mouth with the toothpick.
Not the best idea!!
Thank you! I'm 68 and I learned so much! ❤
I don't know about the rest of this video so far. I'm enjoying this. However, the plasticwrap trick will work. It's the wrap your using. It works better with the really sticky cling wrap. There used to be a brand called borden. Yes , you can do it with it every single time. Aside from that, you need to stretch that plastic wrap tight around the plate. Otherwise it'll never cling to the plate. Another added note though, Some cling wraps just won't do it. They are usually the cheaper ones that suck. And I don't mean in a good way😘 Tip: You can use a plastic bag to do the same exact thing. I've had to on multiple occasions when transporting decorated cake or anything that could use a bit more room around the top. Like a small plant🤙
Came here to say exactly this! In Australia we have Cling-Wrap and as long as you put a bit of stretch into it as you wrap it, that air is going nowhere.
I also noticed that in the videos you showed, they were using longer rolls of cling wrap, which probably also made a considerable difference.
I think it was cellophane for the cake plate, not cling wrap.
We had those toothpaste tube rollers as kids - I’m oooold now and can affirm that they work
Ya know the easiest way to peel garlic? You buy a tub of prepeeled cloves. I know what you’re thinking. They’re going to spoil too fast, right? Wrong. Just give them a little vinegar rinse every week or so. It will last about a month. And it’s far better than those jars of minced garlic. Stop buying that garbage. It’s a trap and it’s bringing your flavor quality down.
I fold the bag top over twice, then use a binder clip to seal it.
If you put the clove on the cutting board, lay the knife on it, strike the knife which collaspes the clove, the skin peels right off
Love the first hack! I'm going to have to remember that one. "For the plastic wrap dome" it looked like you didn't have the supper thin clingy wrap. To get the seal it has to stick to itself and not let go (the harder wrap to actually work with)
GREAT -- loved the straw-pour no spill transfer idea AND the mailing tape-zip tie hack! Whoo!
Your plastic wrap isn't clingy. The thinner cling wrap type sticks like glue and works perfectly because it seals much better to the plate to trap air.
LOVE the grip sticks. My sister got me these a few years ago and it has saved me so much money on stuff that would otherwise go stale like popcorn, chips, or cereal.
Have you tried using two straws? One below, slicing another straw and slide it on top.
My german friend uses a rubber band. 😜 great idea, chips, pastas, frozen foods, bags of medical supplies.
I use a stapler
For keeping bags closed, we either use binder clips (bonus points for cute ones, lol) or I reuse the clips that come with balloons when I get them at the grocery store. Those are strong clips!
Excellent video!! Personally, I use an inverted paper plate to cover dishes in the microwave. I can use them a bunch of times until they get splattered and then I'll toss it out. Keep those great ideas coming!!
Thank you for sharing! A few of those I will actually use and try!
I use a straw split down the long side instead of a grip stick, they work the same for me.
Saved me writing thankyou xx
I think the “lock” of the grip stick is the “tongue” that holds the bag in the stick.
All great ideas except that Plastic Wrap 'Dome'. Such a waste of the wrap. Just place one or two toothpicks in the top of the cake/cupcake etc and then use ONE piece of wrap over the top. This will prevent the topping from getting messed up.
Aw man, I was going to say that 😅
Better yet just take a bowl with a lid ,place the food on the lid and then turn the bowl upside down on top , structurally more sound and stackable
@@MelissaLogan-d4m Oh, that's a totally awesome idea!!! Talk about thinking outside the box/bowl 😹🤣😹
My mother, grandmother - bakers...always use toothpicks...the wasted plastic .. stupid! Love some ideas 💡
Just be a dear and don't use plastic wrap at all. It's difficult to reuse and we already have too much plastic trash.
Oh. My. Gosh 😳 I just took a video and took pics while filming 😳. That was INCREDIBLE! Where was this info during my Granddaughters baseball season lol
This can be done with android too (at least on my galaxy).
Great tips, thank you! I like that you show tips that aren't so great too. Your son is adorable!!
I always cut the length of my bags and then use the cut off end as a tie for things going back in the freezer. I’ll try your way next time! Also, I believe the Saran Wrap trick involves setting the plate on the Saran Wrap and then wrap around. That would prevent the air. I hope that made sense! I also have not tried that hack yet but love the comment from another viewer about placing the item on a lid and then place the bowl on top! Just genius!
Omg your baby looks JUST like your oldest! Too cute! Genetics, man.
I’m shocked! I’m obsessed with the picture taking hack! Thank you! That is awesome!
Omg long subscriber, I noticed you changed your Channel's name from "But 1st Coffee" 😂😂 I am like..wait that doesn't sound right? 😂😂 this title makes perfect sense 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 thanks for the video😊
doesn't the coffee means that she wants you to pay, to support her coffee and naming the channel that way to show people? so changing the name is good, or did i measread that coffee thing? if so, i really appoligise
@@Pebblesmas I think my comment it has been taken out of context. It is a pure observation. I have no deep questions as to why she changed her channel name, I feel that it caught me off guard in my feed and after watching the video I was like that's right that's her "But 1st Coffee" and since she always gave out tips and stuff as a mother, I said it seems more fitting this title now as to what it was. Nothing serious just pure observation.
No, Callie recently changed the name of her channel from "But First, Coffee!" You are thinkjng of the ' buy me a coffee' feature that SOME creators put on their channel to raise more $$ ..if you appreciate their work etc. @Pebblesmas
I loved all of these!!! Thank you!!!
The picture hanging tip is Genius!!!
I got that garlic thingie because of you, and man, oh, man, life-changer!
Lots of really good practical tips. Thank you.
Y’all is def southern! You said it well. First time watcher, I hit subscribe and like. So many great ideas!! Thank you.❤❤
For my freezer food bags, I roll it up and put a rubber band around it. 👍✌️
"Plastic wrap" used to be called "stretch and seal" ( a brand name, I think) because that's how it works. You need to stretch it a bit to make it seal.. as for garlic, just cut the skinny end off first, then when you're cutting the fat end, pull it back and peel it. Ripe garlic will peel off almost all at once.
Great video. Signed, New Subscriber ✌️
Clingfilm is another name in UK.. Good tips..xx
Ok, the pill bottle thing, whoa!🤯 As for the y’all; I think you handled that pretty well…I’m in SC 😘
I love a good y’all and all y’all!! So much better than “guys”!!
Your baby is so cute. ❤ Wondering if uou have parenting, meal hacks ideas as well?
Hi, with garlic, it's much easier if you loosen the paper shell first then you need a sharp tip knife or something with a pointed tip.
Cling wrap airbubble, 2 factors. First, Industrial kitchen clingwrap Its twice as wide/tall as home clingwrap. Therefore it has more room to twist to create the bubble. Second, The plate tray needs be the type the cling wrap wants to cling to automatically. Glass and Metal work best. Ceramic is eh.. depending onthe coating.
This is a really good analysis of life hacks...thanks
Hi I am in Australia. I just saw your channel and your part about grip sticks. I now have them on order from eBay . They look amazing, thank you.
Love some of these tricks, especially grip sticks!
One big note to save anyone else out there from heartache, please don't hold the butter knife gripping and stabbing downward (like horror movie stabby stab way). I did that with a dull butterknife and my hand slipped down. That ended up cutting my pinky tendon (meaning can't bend the finger anymore), and I had to have surgery which had a 3 month recovery. Most people don't recover full function of their pinky after that surgery because of the scar tissue buildup. While recovering from surgery, you're not allowed to use your hand at all. Imagine being a parent and not being able to use your dominant hand! So please please to all of you out there, don't hold or use a knife in any way except the proper way!
A coworker did that years ago trying to debone a chicken. The tendons in the four fingers of her right hand were severed, she was still in a cast the last time I saw her and I dont know if she ever regained full use of her hand. Scary.
I’m so sorry that happened to you! I cringe when I see people cutting or de-pitting an avocado 🥑 while holding it! A plastic surgeon in Australia sees many cases of horrific hand injuries due to this…he and his colleagues call it “avocado hand”. Always put the fruit or vegetable (or garlic) on a flat surface NOT in your hand.
Nice! I'm going to try the lemon juice/water hack for some of my knives.
I am SOOOOOOO in love with my garlic peeler tube!!!!! All thanks to you girlfriend!!!! Best Amazon kitchen gadget I've ever bought/used AND it works EVERY. SINGLE. TIME!!!!! ❤😊❤😮
Taking cloves of garlic off the bulb: Use the same technique, but with a fork; they are slightly bent and give you better leverage. I also cut slightly between the cloves when I first start on the outside of the bulb; they come off easier. You do get holes in the cloves, but they will pop out whole. I'm not sure if you were trying to have the paper removed at the same time--I have never had that happen consistently and use the same little tube you do, or smash it with the side of a knife. Thanks for the videos.
Rinse with water. Peel comes off alot easier
Many brilliant ideas. Thank you 😊
Pretty neat video&I loved the comment on how many garlics you were using
The packing tape one!!!
Hola! I love your hacks vids. For the garlic, give a little crush with the blade of the knife on a flat position. It will crack it a bit and you can simply pick out the clove without any of the little stickies on it 🖖
Great hacks. Thank you for taking the time to 'trial them' and then share them. I have to buy some of those grip sticks. Yes, pegs, binder clips etc work ... but how cute and what fun. 😄
This has been the only video that i can actually use! Tks for the iphone tips!!!
The plastic wrap bubble hack only works with cling film. There's a difference between just regular plastic wrap and cling film. They are made out of different plastics. It does work though if you use the cling film. America banned the type of plastic the old cling film is made out of for contact with food that's why you can't find that type of plastic wrap in America anymore (at least not the super good clingy stuff) But you can still find the cling wrap packages as pallet or packing wrap.
You can also make a funnel out of foil... unroll when done to rinse & reuse.
I love the picture hanging tape idea for pictures that need two or more nails. Although, I'd use painter's tape & a Sharpie to mark the holes.
The zip tie on tape seems wasteful to me bc we use too much plastic that just ends up in landfills (I know it's small, but it adds up & I use a lot of tape). I put a bread clip under the leading edge when I'm done with it so I don't have to struggle with restarting it... or fold a tiny corner & stick it to itself.
The plastic wrap dome seems extremely wasteful. We always put a toothpick or two sticking up (esp ones with a 'topper') to keep it out of the food. If you get the edges wet, it'll stick much better... esp when sticking it to itself. Storing the roll in the freezer/ fridge, keeps it from sticking to itself (which can be a problem when unrolling it).
I feel that a reusable cover for nuking food is more environmentally friendly (if you just give it a quick rinse right after use to clean it).
And wasting lemons/etc isn't really necessary to clean a microwave, heating plain water to 'steam clean' anything that doesn't clean up with a quick wipe (immediately after use) is all that's needed.
For many things, soaking in vinegar & rubbing with a (lightly used) crumpled ball of foil will remove rust stains.
Hope this helps 🤞🤠🤞
Your baby is adorable and I see you have a beautiful new ring 😊😊😊
I've always used clothespins to close bags. They work better than chip clips.
I love your channel!
they sell the garlic rollers peelers at dollar tree, I've had mine for years
For frosting topped things I use one of those frilly toothpicks and stick it on the top. The toothpick stops it from crushing.
The plastic wrap fail was because of the type of plastic wrap you used, try it with Saran Wrap or similar, the one you used never sticks to anything tightly.
Great video Kallie! Love you makeup look, could you please share your skincare routine?😊
Out of all these videos that show you how to shortcut things so far yours is the best thank you
Thank you so much for your video.
To break up a large garlic bulb place upside down on a cutting board. Take the bake of a large wooden cooking spoon. Press the back of the wooden spoon against the root center of the bulb with firm pressure until the bulb breaks apart to the desired amount. And btw great video!
The pizza hack is better if you have a medium heat to start with. Having the pan set too hot, can give you a crispy a base before the topping has warmed through sufficiently. Then the tendency is to leave it on longer, leading to a burnt base. You can always turn it up part way through if you want a more crispy base once the topping/cheese is warmed through/ melted.
In the plastic wrap hack you have to keep the roll if wrap vertically as you go around the plate.
I just love your videos and especially your sense of humor, that seran wrap segment cracked me up, lol!! Thank you for sharing all the great heads up! Going to try some of them.
1:17 I use office binder clips. I find they work great.
Omg! Where did you get the Frog and Toad shirt? I need one.
