Oh Kallie! This is the first time ever that I’ve watched a life hack video where every single hack was completely usable!! (Being an RN I already knew about the gentle removal of bandages and tapes. And my father was a plumber so I know how to clean drains and traps). But my point is that I learned so many great hacks from you today. So a huge Thank You!!!❤. Now for a nice hot cup of coffee for me and in gratitude to you!!! Cheers😁
Except when you can’t… diy plumbing they glued the whole trap together. Would have tried covering the drain with the mix or a plunger if I had saw this. Instead cost me $300 for drain tech to cut out the pipes clean then replace with proper disconnectable parts.
Hi! A pill container also works great for spices if you are going camping or staying at a Time share with a kitchen. I’ve done this for about ten years and it works great! Also, no problem getting in through security in a checked or carry on bag 🤗. Makes cooking on vacation much tastier & less expensive than buying seasoning.
Thanks for the hack about the pool noodles, among other things. I am getting ready to put some planters over my deck railing and was going to buy styrofoam packing material for the bottoms. I will now use the pool noodles instead. Another suggestion - lay landscape cloth over the pool noodle pieces in your pot before you put in the soil. That will keep you from wasting the soil that falls around the noodles and washes out the bottom. Great suggestions!
I have been using red lava rocks for years. They are lightweight. I use them in the bottom and on top. The latter to keep the squirrels from digging in my potting soil.
Wow! These were actually great hacks. So many of these types of videos are ridiculous but these were practical, affordable, and useful for everyday lives. Thank you for sharing!
Great hacks ... Im a dollar store junky that pool noodle hack for planters is brilliant (reminder to keep those Styrofoam peanuts from mail boxes too ... I've been throwing them away) Every year I’ve wanted rocks to build up my planters but I live at the beach and mostly have sand, I guess I can use shells ... but the fact that the noodles aren't heavy is brilliant. I've never seen a pool noodle demonstration that I would use until now
Oh gosh, NOT FREAKING 20 minutes ago I was filling a giant flower pot with soil, it weighs a ton! THEN I come inside and watch this video and the pool noodle idea comes along! UGH! I actually HAVE a bunch of random pool noodles, gonna get to cutting them now, thank you SO much for this tip!
Instead of using pool noodles and have to do all that cutting, I use the peanuts that are used for packing material. Works great, I have done this for years.
The toilet brush/power scrubber! What the what? I would have never thought of that amazing hack. Thanks for sharing this video and all of the hacks. 😊 Happy Easter
I love the caddy for kids snacks, mesh bag for bath toys, and the candle tissue paper transfer! 🤩 I’m looking forward to trying these hacks. Thank you!
I love dish soap and vinegar to clean in the bathroom! I sometimes add baking soda to my sponge for tough spots on my tub. I need to try the drain trick. I hope you and your family have a great week!
THAT one was one of those "Now, why didn't I think of that?" ideas. I used to have this thing I got from QVC called the Bracelet Buddy. If you can picture an alligator clip attached to a 4" or so gold plastic handle, that was what it was. You clipped the alligator clip to one end of the bracelet and brought the other end around your wrist and attached the clasp to the ring. The tape is an inexpensive hack anyone can use! Now if your bracelet is really clunky, like a Pandora bracelet, you might have to act like MacGyver (use duct tape) to make the hack work.
We also take the white pool noodles and use them at the bottom of our doors to stop drafts by slicing one side of the pool noodle and sliding it on the bottom of our doors. It blends in with the door and is aesthetically more pleasing to the eye.
The hanger/paper towel holder works great, but make the cut area not as wide. You want to have to bend the plastic hanger piece just a bit more to get the roll to slide on. It keeps the paper towels from flying off when pulling one off.
I almost bought a battery powered scrubber, but you just made my decision to hold off so worth it! such a genius idea! I also love the little caddies and am always trying new ways to use them. My kids are grown, but I have dogs. One way to use the caddy is to put their grooming supplies (brush, spray, clippers, treats...) in it so I don't have to hunt it all down each time. Thanks for all of your ideas and motivation!
Boy, the bracelet puttin' on hack is really helpful for anyone, but my arthritis is getting worse by the day, so my skills with putting on bracelets are diminishing quickly. That is a great idea, and I appreciate it a TON.
I use those hooks when I travel. Whether in a home or a hotel, there are seldom extra places to hang my washcloth or my back brush. Just don’t forget to take them with you when you leave! 😊❤
Smart idea! I'm a little nervous with those suction cup hooks. I guess I've heard the mesh bag of bath toys come crashing down once too often with those kind of hooks. Now if you really want to keep a hook on the shower wall, I recommend the Command Hooks for wet environments. Again, like ThankfulNanaDiane said, don't forget to take them home with you. The Command Hooks should come off neatly when you want to remove them.
I use broken up polystyrene from packaging to put in vases as a drainage layer. It goes in the bottom, over it I drape any rag that is made from polyester (won't rot) and fill the rest with soil. It is free and you can easily find it on the curb on trash day.
When removing the lettering from pill dispensers etc, I use pure acetone. Works faster and also saves you in the watered-down version from the shop. When I use it on my nails I always make sure I wash my hands immediately after using it. If you want you can always add your own water to it, thus, saving you so much more on the over-priced so-called polish remover they sell in the shops !
I put bricks in the bottom part of my larger planter, then a circle with holes over the rocks, then the soil. But I want my pot to be heavy so it's not easily movable, without wasting so much soil. And I made the circle out of the foam board from DT, and punched holes in it for drainage. I was trying to keep the cost down overall, but I really wanted to use the large river rocks, but they're so expensive, so I bought the smaller paving bricks. It works for me. 😊
I took your advice about the DT dish scrubber to use in the shower a year ago and I love it! That Walmart lamp is so cute! Great find!!! You sound in your outro like you may be fighting a cold! Wishing you good health! I’m fighting pneumonia right now myself! Wishing you well!
Pneumonia! Yikes! That's serious. If it's bacterial pneumonia, hopefully you're on good antibiotics. Of course, I'm sure you know, drink lots of liquids and do some deep breathing exercises! Take care!
@@7LisaMarie7 it is bacterial and I am on a ten day course of antibiotics to start! I’m really good about fluids, I just hate that it makes me pee constantly when I just want to sleep!! Thank you for the healing thoughts!! 💜 take care!!
I have used the shower mesh bag hack for years. House is zip it closed and toss in the top rack of your dishwasher to clean your kids toys. Great for lego.
The hack for bandaid is amazing! For us with babies that have extreme eczema who can't use Vaseline/petroleum jelly because it burns them... there's a baby multipurpose ointment by Matt's which is petroleum free. Comes in a pretty good size container and can be used for diaper rashes, moisturizing, healing wounds, etc. :)
Kallie what great hacks! I loved all of them. I usually have to go through the videos a couple times to have them stick in my brain! So I’ll look forward to trying these out!Have a great week!
Loved these! One thing - if you put a round light in front of you is that it can block out your pupils. For people with light blue eyes, it makes their eyes look strange and very "otherworldly!" I would check the first 30 seconds of a recording to make sure this isn't happening.
oh my, I got to the hack for the bathroom and stopped the video and tried it. I think my tub will need many more tries, but I am sure it has helped some. thanks for all the hacks. Happy Resurrection Sunday.
The wrapping paper in the tights door edge hack!!!! I will be making it tomorrow. It will save me so much angst. My sweet cat learned a terrible habit as a kitten. He can open doors by pawing the bottom.if the door is shut he does not give up.... he pulls and pulls until someone in the house goes crazy and let's him through. Cannot wait to try this!!!
I bought that exact same pill organizer at my local Dollar Tree and when I tried to open each compartment I found they wouldn’t open unless I pried them open. Did I just get a bad one? Dollar Tree has some good things but I want to caution people about that daily pill organizer. Other than that, thanks for the great tips!
Hello, loved all the hacks you mentioned! Especially the light, i do some art work and always taking the shade off. This would work perfectly! Thank you
Great hacks, we have a deep trough type planter and I am going to fill the bottom with pool noodles then landscape paper then the soil. For potted plants I use coffee filters on top of the foam, then the soil.
I have wanted a way to organize my massive amount of earrings that didn’t look ridiculous and actually held more than four pairs and this with the pill thing is perfect. I’m gonna go buy about five of them.v😂❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤Thanks Kallie😂😅😅. Very useful & doable esp the flower pot thingy, door trap, sink thingy, quite cool.😍😍😍😊😊😊👍👏👏👏😅 QUESTION. HIW DOES THE LED TOP TABLE LIGHT CHARGE AFTER CUTTING OFF THE WIRES?
It's actually not the best idea to put baking soda and vinegar down the drain. I tried this for awhile, and it caused plumbing problems in the building and the maintenance guy showed me why it's not a great idea. The baking soda can get stuck in the pipe, clump up and harden, til it's like a brick. It can eventually block the drain. Just wanted to let people know so you can avoid damage to your sink!
The easiest way to clean a kitchen drain is to simply take it apart, rinse it out, and reassemble. I keep an extra bottle brush for this purpose. If your drain assembly is stainless steel, consider swapping it for PVC which is easier to take apart and doesn't require tools. Once you get in the habit of doing this, you'll never tolerate a smelly or clogged drain. Also protecting the drain with mesh drain baskets will prevent a lot of problems.
The use of cut up pool noodles as a filler for large pots with fake plants was pretty neat! For smaller pots with real plants, I used to use packing peanuts, mainly for drainage, but I think the chopped up pool noodle is a better idea for putting a smaller plant into a little bit larger pot without using so much soil -- and for drainage. I need to do that with one of my Philodendrons. Then it'll fit into my IKEA hanging pot a LOT better.
The First hack is a winner for me . I clean houses for a living i also live on a farm with teenagers boys. My mud room has those rugs.. I find them so hard to keep clean. thank you for sharing ❤❤❤ i cant whait to try it out.
Such great hacks! I’m always so poorly lit in Zoom calls, one of my co-workers asked me if I’d been moved to the witness protection program! 😂 Thought I was fine w/overhead lighting and sitting in front of the window. Nope!
Re pool noodles in planters... A better and lightweight solution are red lava rocks. They are also environment friendly. Been using them for years in the bottom of my planters and on top of the soil. The latter to keep squirrels from digging in the planters.
Too much of anything in the bottom of the pot raises the water table, and makes an exquisite home for ants, they love a pot with a bunch of empty space in the bottom!
what everybody else said before me 👇👇👇 the hacks are awesome and at my advanced age when I'm struggling with something in my environment I ask myself "what would Kallie do?" and then I grin with joy 💙💚💙

Right
oh wow.....the baking soda and vinegar hack i've used forever, but stopping it with the cloth forcing it down a whole new level!! Thanks Kal!!!
You can also use a clean plunger.
Same! 😂❤
Or you can just take the drain apart and rinse it. 🙄
Except when you can’t… diy plumbing they glued the whole trap together. Would have tried covering the drain with the mix or a plunger if I had saw this. Instead cost me $300 for drain tech to cut out the pipes clean then replace with proper disconnectable parts.

Wonderful ideas

Great idea to keep the soil above the pool noodle pieces!
I was wondering about the soil falling down in between the pool noodle pieces, so thank you for the tip about using landscaping cloth!
I have been using red lava rocks for years. They are lightweight. I use them in the bottom and on top. The latter to keep the squirrels from digging in my potting soil.

Why have we never thought of that?! My mom once bought me a bracelet helper that is like a hook but for the life of me I can’t find it!
late to the party. I've seen people use a bobby pin to clip on the bracelet and hold with your hand until the clasp is connected.
Really liked the table lamp hack! All great! Thank you! 😊

I agree. I would just split it but not remove any. Would that work?

If you have sèptic instead of sewer system, you need to be careful with vinegar. It kills the stuff that breaks down solids

Gosh - these were great. So logical but most so overlooked (by me.) Thank you Kallie!
The lamp hack is great, I will have to find one so I can do this for my desk.
This is such an excellent and more importantly, useful video!! Thank-you!
I keep a dish scrubber in my shower thanks to you! I don’t always use it, but it’s in there on the chance I feel like it!
I took your advice about the DT dish scrubber to use in the shower a year ago and I love it!

I love the bathroom cleaning hack with the scrubber. I will be using that. Thank you ❤
Ok this is the best hacks video ever. I've only watched to the doorstopper so far and I'm literally doing that and the sink TONIGHT!! Tanks so much.
Love all of these tips…thank you! 😁

Would coconut oil also work? A friend says it is good for after wash before diapering.
Thank you Kallie, every time I watch you I learn something. Very useful hacks.
Loved loved loved the image transfers to the candles! You could use that for any occasion!
Hey Kallie. Great hacks. Totally useful. THX. Appreciate you.😊❤

I had a thought with the pool noodles the way you cut them up I wonder if you could use them for shipping instead of using those shipping peanuts
Excellent! Love that you didn’t waste any of our time! 🎉🎉🎉
I wonder if the first one would work for dog hair in the car. Love the door draft one and the tub scrubber!

Finally someone says it vinegar and baking soda makes salty water! Thank you! If I could only get my mom to understand this.
Loved the hacks, I think 8 million toys was a slight exaggeration. My son and I had a good laugh.
These are all so great❣
Thank you❣❣❣
The bandaid thing is great. It always takes skin with it from my arms. I will use this. Thanks
Very helpful! love this thank you
You always have the best videos and ideas! Thanks! 😊
Ooooo that candle one is going to come in handy for fandom gifts.

QUESTION.
HIW DOES THE LED TOP TABLE LIGHT CHARGE AFTER CUTTING OFF THE WIRES?
Aren't they battery operated?
It's actually not the best idea to put baking soda and vinegar down the drain. I tried this for awhile, and it caused plumbing problems in the building and the maintenance guy showed me why it's not a great idea. The baking soda can get stuck in the pipe, clump up and harden, til it's like a brick. It can eventually block the drain. Just wanted to let people know so you can avoid damage to your sink!
Didn't know that!
Yes, this baking soda isn't good idea
The easiest way to clean a kitchen drain is to simply take it apart, rinse it out, and reassemble. I keep an extra bottle brush for this purpose. Your supposed to rinse it out after your done but I just use bleach alone.
Love the tissue paper and candle. Just got a new printer and will be trying this very soon.
With vinegar, be careful to keep it away from the calk. The vinegar can cause the calk to wear out faster and cause leaks in the future.

For smaller pots with real plants, I used to use packing peanuts, mainly for drainage, but I think the chopped up pool noodle is a better idea for putting a smaller plant into a little bit larger pot without using so much soil -- and for drainage.
