Rode both, and noticed the 130 felt better to climb because it is more lively from the faster steering. The 150 is an absolute monster on the downhills and for most trails simply not needed. The advice is right on.
I rode both at Outerbike and the 150 pedals heavier but confidence everywhere. I stopped watching the trail and started looking for bigger extra credit while riding the 150. more bike than most trails need.
Yeti Bikes look oh so gorgeous in that "signature" blue they come in. SB100 is enough for me but if I had my way I'd go all in with the SB150. With all the features and pricing mathematics into consideration, maybe it's the SB130🚲
have last years Kona process 153 and after a 2 day demo of the sb130 ... purchased a sb130... Kona now up for sale... agree with your review and others... hard to explain but bike feels and rides better and unexpectedly nimble .... beast on climbs and handles all but the most enduro descents with ease ..
Dang! That is awesome to hear that the bike was that much of an improvement for you that you picked one up! That bike is definitely solidifying itself as a shop favorite.
I think you were trying to say the SB130 provides more feedback from the trail. In addition less distance to compress suspension makes pumping through corners and rollers way more effective. However I am still on the fence without a proper back to back demo.
Yeti have made the CLR and TLR versions of the sb130, with 137mm of travel and 160mm of fork with the fox 36 grip 2. It starts to be very interesting! The best of both worlds in my opinion!
@@WorldwideCyclery Finally! Someone mentions the TLR! Very interesting bike! The added travel makes it very close to the Ibis Ripmo in terms of suspension travel. Also great to get the GRIP2 up front along with the 200mm brake rotors. Are the Code brakes better than the Guide offered on the TOTL T3 model? On paper, it looks like an interesting "half step" towards the 150. Can any mechanic extend the DPX2 to 137mm or does that require Ibis/Fox? Lastly, do the changes brought to the TLR impact the climbing/pedalling platform in any way?
I'm going to get the SB150 next year in the turquoise, Can't wait. I originally was looking at the new Scott Ransom and then the Santa Cruz High Tower LT but then the SB150 came out and i was like thats the one.
I’ve demoed both and the only real differences I noticed were that I had slightly slower times going downhill on the 140 although I definitely had a bigger smile on my face. All it wants to do is get in the air and manual down the whole trail. Side note: I tested them is Truckee so a slight disadvantage to the 27s
I think I’m going to have to check out both of these bikes at your Lancaster shop, but I’m leaning towards the sb150 for our east coast trails. I bet it would be awesome to ride Sals with!
great video.. i test rode the sb150 and was so blown away i got it without a test ride on the 130! :) im sure the 130 is plenty enough but i'm having too much fun on the 150 i haven't looked back.
Straight up, the SB130 is the best ONE bike somebody can own. If you can only have one bike, get that. Beyond that - I start thinking other options make more sense (SB100/SB150, Wreckoning/EPO, Rallon/HeiHei)
Does the SB130 LR solve this debate? I am really struggling to decide. I don't need both, but I do a few amateur enduro races in the summer, but mostly trail riding. Sounds like the LR can do it all.
Yeti does not spec any bikes with a Lyrik and we have not had anyone run RockShox suspension on the new Yeti's yet. That is an awesome fork and I am sure would perform great on an SB130. :)
I rode both at yeti factory on same trail loop. did not notice difference in climbing with the exception of the tight switch back but descending its not even close. 150 for this cat. 130 felt a bit harsh on square hits and more squirley at speed, also the lower BB on 130 produces way more pedal strikes
Same thing my buddy said about the following over the wrecker, now he is on the offering and says it's way more stable in the high speed chunk, and much more responsive than the wreckoning
Thanks for the great video - I have a quick question. I see that on the SB130 they went with a FIT4 (3 position lever w/LS adjustment on open) vs FIT GRIP2 (HSC, LSC, HSR, LSR) damper on the 36 Fox Float. The Fox website states that only FIT4 is available on the 150 but I believe Transition Smuggler is running a FIT GRIP2 on their 140 mm 36 Fox Float Performance so it can be done. Any thoughts on why they decided to go with the FIT4? Obviously for more trail riding oriented bike, having a lever to go from open to firm on long single fireroads or single track climbs is somewhat desirable. That being said, FIT GRIP design features a dynamic bleed system that Fox claims reduces performance-robbing pressure build-up, and improving consistency and reliability. Would you like to have seen a FIT GRIP 2 damper on the 150 travel fork? Do you think FOX will release a FIT GRIP damper with 3 position lever w/LS adjustment on open? Also, is that a Wolftooth 32T oval ring that I see on the black SB130 in the video?
Hey, thanks for watching. I think because the SB130 is a trail oriented bike that Fit4 makes sense and I do not think many people who are looking for that category of bike are going to want to have the extra adjustability. I am not sure what Fox has in mind when it comes to the future of their damper line. I think they will continue to use two different damper designs to benefit different styles of customers and always have a simple option and a more complex option with more tuning capability.
Both bikes appeal to me. Looking for advice. I have a plate in one leg from a bad break. Once in a while, I hit something hard enough that the leg hurts for a week or two. So, the question..... is the 150 going to protect me significantly more from harsher shocks? or should I get a 130 because it better matches what I would use it for? Thanks in advance.
The SB150 would definitely allow you a little more room to wiggle and give some extra cushion but it may not be worth it depending on where you're riding! I'd say, try to demo both and that should really give you a better idea of what would be reasonable for you.
I had similar body damage/hardware concerns when shopping for a new ride that I needed to be much more supple than previous bike. Didn’t need more than 130, but wanted extra supple so I could continue to ride. Went with a 130 2.8 x 27.5 bike and it’s been exactly what I needed.
I pulled the trigger on the raw SB130 but is interested in toying with the LR set up. Do I need a new rear shock or just have the shaft extended on the Fox DPX2 to go to 137mm?
If you have sb5.5, is it worth it to upgrade to sb130? And also can u use fox 36 170mm travel on sb130? Cuz ive someone with orange for on the sb130 and i know fox 36 150-160mm dont comes with orange lowers
It is really hard to make that call and say out right that you should upgrade but the new bikes really are something new and amazing. Good thing Yeti's have a high resale value and I know a lot of people would pay well for that 5.5 right now. Makes you think.... :)
Someone needs to explain this to me... A comparable spec bike from any other brand is between 200-500 less than yeti. I get Yeti is more but in this price range is 4500 vs 5200 for a GX bike that big of a deal? Just get the bike you want.
The obvious change is that now with this position Yeti can accommodate a water bottle but I think with their new linkage and having a more inline compression stroke the Switch Inifinty suspension design feels smoother than ever. It helps that the shock pivots on bearings as well. Definite improvement. :)
You can make the mission up to our Newbury Park location! If not though, check out the dealer locator on their site, www.yeticycles.com/dealers It looks like there are definitely a few dealers in your area!

Surprised the spec on the 150 includes XM1501 wheels. I’ve got XM481s off a yeti which are pretty much the same wheel minus the hub and I’ve always thought they were more for trail/all mountain, I couldn’t imagine how long they’d last for someone like Richie Rude lol
I’ve got a 481 on my front wheel, it recently sliced through the sidewall of a double down dhf smashing into a square edge at 65 km/h and the rim has zero damage, next step up is the ex511 which is slowly replacing the ex471 as the most common rim in World Cup DH, that being said I have seen 511s on Ritchie’s bike, but for 98% of people buying a 150 the 481s are more than tough enough.
Dear yeti: Since I’ve gotten into mtb (about 6 years ago) your bikes have always been appealing to me. Love when you guys add clips from tv shows to compliment jokes. Great sense of humour haha.
Nice comparison video. Really lays out the differences well.
Any plans for a sb140 vs sb165 video soon? Or a in-depth ride review of the sb165?
Almost purely due to the rear shock placement; I think the 150 looks quite a bit better.
I don't why Jeff, but I'm getting a heavy Dana Carvey vibe today. Party on.

Yeti hit the target, with Geo. Why not a 130 with a Fox34 130-140mm fork?
You could definitely go that route for a lighter set up. :)

When are they coming out with an SB 170? If the 150 pedals so well, why not add more suspension?
