I know every one is looking for the silver bullet but Nate Hills says its 90 percent rider 10 percent bike, don't over think it. Bikes today are awesome and no you do not to spent 6,000 dollars to have fun and ride hard. Nice video thanks
Chihiro Gustafson weight is just a number, and you can just save weight by having a crack in the frame, you saw how I did that with my Niner. Only downside is creaking whenever you pedal...
Two major issues with the Yeti are a press fit bottom bracket and the switch infinity system being directly in the path of wheel mud and dirt accumulation. The Evil has one of the best suspension linkage designs in terms of owner serviceability and all of the links are well away from mud and dirt being thrown by the rear wheel. I rode my 2009 Yeti AS-R for ten years, and wanted to go with Yeti again but decided on the Evil after riding both and contemplating the long-term maintenance associated with each.
Hi Jeff. The following quote is from the 2019 Bible of Bike Tests regarding the SB130: “The bike corners exceptionally well, but it requires the rider to completely shift his or her weight forward over the front end. It can actually feel unnatural and uncomfortable at first, as you timidly inch farther and farther forward, corner after corner, to get the front wheel to stick. That much forward bias would pitch you over the bars on a lot of other bikes, so it takes some practice to get used to it. Also, it takes more energy, so when you get tired and want to sit up and relax, the bike will understeer and blow corners. But when you’re switched on, the SB130 will not disappoint.” - Ryan Palmer, Bike magazine What's your take on this? Do you agree?
Reviews are tough because so much comes down to rider preference and rider style. When it comes to the way a bike handles I would never try to coach someone on how to maneuver a bike that you have never ridden or try to give riding instructions to the masses. When we give these overviews we try to highlight the most important info and encourage someone to get out and ride one for themselves. :)
One big distinction: Evil is linkage driven single pivot, so it’s going to have more chain growth, but also has a naturally progressive “poppy” feel. Depending on how you set up your bike, it has either fantastic small bump compliance, or insanely good bottom out prevention. I love it, so I got a Following and plan on getting a Wreckoning eventually.
I demoed lots of bikes last year and ended up buying a Calling. It s just so fun to ride. I modified the fork to a 150 mm and put the flip chip in the X-Low setting. Nice video again. I wish I could try that Yeti just for fun though...
Alexandre Asselin I did exactly the same! Calling with 150 front, 130 rear x-low is so perfect. I demoed the MB and yeti sb4.5 but the calling just felt so right to me. And climbs better, imo.
I have been considering both of these and leaning towards the yeti. I just can’t get past spending 6k on a bike that doesn’t have internal cable routing.
I buying a yeti sb130 but what about size to go ? im 178cm looking for large because i had SC Hightower large and it was perfect but not sure how does it feel compering 5.5 is the size similar?
I went to size Medium just compared the geometry on my correct SC and even SB130 size M is bigger than SC so M size of Yeti should be just right for me
Hi Geoff, love your videos, how would you compare the offering and 2019 comp alloy LT stumpy? Is it worth upgrading the frame? Also want to upgrade wheels to carbon
Hi jeff, can you tell me why there is different shock on the yeti SB 150 ie; on the Turq frame fox x2 & on the C frame Dpx2 won't they ride differently & on the SB 130 Turq & C frame both have the fox DPx2 shock, I know the C frame has the performance version against the Turq having the factory ( Kashima coating ) but the internals are pretty much the same apart from the coating. Is it because there isn't a performance version of the X2 to go on the C build that's why they have the Fox DPX2 performance on the 150 C build Kind regards Drew
That is a good question, I think they do that just because of the affordability of the DPX2. It just makes more sense to have a less expensive shock on a less expensive frame but that is definitely a question for Yeti if you really want to know why. They are going to ride a little differently but that does not necessarily mean better or worse... Just different. The DPX2 may be better for a lot of riders who are using the SB150 for more of a trail bike. I hope this helps a little!
Though this is an older video, thanks for the information. That said, do you have a comparison of the Niner Rip 9 versus the Ibis Ripmo and or Yeti SB130? Blue skies, Jg
This is somewhat of a biased opinion since I am currently on a Yeti and think it is the best bike brand in the world. BUT I did get a chance to ride the Ripmo last year at the Sedona MTB festival and don't think it even compares to either of these bikes.
Bought in 2018 and tried the Yeti, among a few others. It has a higher top end than the Ripmo but is inferior in every other way IMHO. Unless you are going to time race the Ripmo is better.
Hi jeff, the Yeti SB 130 can take 160 mm fork as you know from the yeti website, which would give a 0.5 of 1 deg slackening down to 65 deg upfront would that make it better on the downs , but compromise a little on the climbing abilities of the 130 ? Kind regards Drew.
Hey Drew, you've got the right idea there! Bumping up the travel on the fork will help while riding downhill but will have adverse effects while climbing.
Evil for sure even though they say 3 years customer service is great at evil and if your a long customer I’ve herd they take care of faithful evil people, not just that Evils are way more fun to ride 🤙🏼
Hey, great video thanks. that is not much travel so you'd have to go with the bike which at least pedals well. yeti. it looked plush too. the evil was wallowing in its travel it seemed to me. looked terrible. maybe the suspension was not set up right
I've had plenty of time on both bikes. The 130 has amazing efficiency in and out of the saddle. The offering didn't pedal as well, but wasn't exactly bobbing all over the place. Even with a Push coil.
Knott looked so much hotter when he was riding his...er, uh..MY Transition Scout...lol Any chance He could give a comparison between the two in the future?
Yeti, in a heartbeat. The Evil rear suspension linkage is weird looking, probably heavier, and too complex to want. Not sure why anyone would even want an Evil. Looks like you need an engineering degree to even service the Evil shock.
if i was able to have/afford either bike.. i would lean torwards Yeti. Afterall Doddy from GMBN almost had an orgasm just mentioning Yeti ...in his latest video....
I thought Yeti was overpriced, but looking at the price difference, and how Evil doesent offer any "unnecessarily expensive" perks that come with the price tag, id say that they easily take the cake when it comes to the "how much can we get away with" department. -.- As long as the media doesent cover any actually good value products, i guess they can go on milking the crowd as they desire. Its not like anything you get, other than the fancy branding, would warrant a ~350%ish premium over an actually competitive product(talking frame here).
Does anyone have a USED BIKE similar to these two bikes that they are willing to sell? I can't afford these bikes brand new, but maybe used. I live in Californis, so let me know someone. Thanks
Yeti SB130 or Evil The Offering, which would you pick? Let us know!
Wigry 3 > Yeti > Evil
I'd take the YETI.
Evil
Worldwide Cyclery
I built an Offering...love it
Worldwide Cyclery yeti by far
I love the color of the Evil, reminds me of a Yeti!
Pound for pound both of these bikes need more bang for the buck
Haven’t ridden the SB130 but I have to say I love my Offering. Both badass bikes!
Honestly, I think if you end up with either one of these you're in a pretty good place.
I know every one is looking for the silver bullet but Nate Hills says its 90 percent rider 10 percent bike, don't over think it. Bikes today are awesome and no you do not to spent 6,000 dollars to have fun and ride hard. Nice video thanks
This was my dilemma. Went with Offering and very happy about it! Don't think you can go wrong on either one.
Definitely cannot go wrong.
Too close to call... both are dream machines! Lots of $, but, lots of bike too. I'd be just as stoked to ride one as I would the other...
I don’t really like the way the yeti looks, and that evil looks soo good. If I was a dentist I would 100% go evil
Yeti is lighter i pick yeti
@@chihirogustafson8557 That and Evils warranty is garbage!

Pretty sure most dentists are Evil. So that fits... :)
See, I'm the other way around. No idea why - I just like the Yeti aesthetic better.

@@jasonberner8614 Yeah definitely! I'd own both if I had the $$, but I'm very happy with the Evil.
Great comparison gents. I'd love to demo both and get a feel for which one wants to get rowdy.

The black Yeti and turquoise Evil had me completely befuddled from the get go.

Papasaurus Wrecks it does climb better in my opinion too. It s just a rad bike .
Reamonn here at the shop loves his 27.5 Evil!
Yeti is VERY proud of their bikes . . .
Can you compare the Pivot 429Trail to the Yeti 130?
Santa said just box them up and deliver to me Merry Christmas 🎄
Hard choice. Both great looking bikes !
Just bought the offering. Thanks for the help
can you make this video again but 2021 version! throw in the ripmo to!
I have been considering both of these and leaning towards the yeti. I just can’t get past spending 6k on a bike that doesn’t have internal cable routing.
The Yeti does have a beautifully refined frame. :)
Two beautiful whips
Awesome comparison 👍🏻
Thanks for the positive feedback we appreciate it.
If you all made more of these vs. videos i would watch them.
Hope you do a SB100 Vs Following MB soon please?
The 2best looking bikes😍
Is there any new features on the 2021 Yeti sb130?

How does the Offering climb vs. the MB? What's your take?
Same
Bummer. I love my MB, but the front end does tend to wander when the climbing gets steeper.
Dave Farrell
I have both bikes
Offering climbs better just cuz the seat angle. And for whatever reason it seems to have better traction.
I would agree that The Offering with the steeper seat tube seems to climb better. :)
I bought the Evil Offering cos i liked how the DELTA suspension looks.
Good videos, but why no mention of the full bike build weights? I mean they were right there, in the stands...
Hi Geoff, love your videos, how would you compare the offering and 2019 comp alloy LT stumpy? Is it worth upgrading the frame? Also want to upgrade wheels to carbon
We have not ridden that bike here at the shop so I really cannot say. :)

I like that the Evil is in a Yeti color and the Yeti an Evil color.
You guys added a Push shock to your Offering and a nice wheel set. I'm guessing you like it. Can you comment on the bike with the Push shock?
That bike with the Push shock on it is pure joy. It's just perfectly plush and planted yet maintains the playfulness that you expect from Evil.
Though this is an older video, thanks for the information. That said, do you have a comparison of the Niner Rip 9 versus the Ibis Ripmo and or Yeti SB130? Blue skies, Jg
Hey Jeff I know it’s not a brand you sell but you must have ridden one. How’s a ripmo stack up to these?
This is somewhat of a biased opinion since I am currently on a Yeti and think it is the best bike brand in the world. BUT I did get a chance to ride the Ripmo last year at the Sedona MTB festival and don't think it even compares to either of these bikes.
I have not had a chance to ride one but Zack is one of our better riders so who knows! You will have to find a demo and take one out. :)
Bible of bikes seems not to agree with that opinion...

Or Pinkbike, or EnduroMag, or MBA Action, or....
If I was to build up the Offering, would it be okay to go with a 150mm travel fork? and does it have to have the 51mm offset?
Too close to call. Send them both to me. I'll let you know in a year. I guess if I had to choose it would be the Yeti. Because I believe in Bigfoot😆
Can you get a 2.5 or 2.4 WT on the rear? They come 2.3 on rear right?
Yeti 130 I was asking about.
A 2.4 or 2.5 shouldn't be any problem. A few of our guys are running the WTB Judge in the rear and it has plenty of clearance.
What do you guys think of the Santa Cruz Hightower 27.5+ S Build?
We are not Santa Cruz dealers but we have heard good things about the Hightower. :)
