Great vid Rob - as usual. This is a 20k bike in Australia so your comment about having high expectations is spot on! The quality of a bike this price would have to be the highest. It does not surprise me at all that it is a great bike, great bikes is what Yeti does but man that price tag is hard to get past. I currently have a 2020 Norco Range VLT C2 and I am not sure this 11k better. It certainly is pretty though.
Doesnt mattar how well it rides or how cool it looks a mountain bike over £10000 is just out right ridiculous - and doesnt even come with the better charger. There is some P1$$ taking going on.

It is the best looking long travel E-MTB in the market, as well as the most expensive one . Even though I have been saving for the last two years and having sold all my bikes so that I can get a top spec E-MTB, it is the Shimano motor that puts me away as far as power and that rattling noise are concerned...I will wait for a couple of months to see the 2022 Enduro and AllMtn Haibike bikes with the newer Yamaha motor and the bigger battery and make my mind then. Anyways, the bike is a looker!
It will be superseded in a year and you will want something else. Don’t get sucked into spending too much, spending for the sake of it is not a great idea.
I've rode all the motors and own a Bosch powered one now and if I was to buy another it would be the Bosch again, mega reliable up to now 600 mile in 6 months.
Definitely a shame about the motor rattle on the Shimano and Bosch units, particularly when spending a significant amount of money. Personally, I wouldn't buy a rattling motor and I'm surprised so many high end manufacturers are going ahead with these motors. I'm sure the rattle will lead to longer term issues. Great video as always Rob 👍
I also thought that the rattling might cause issues down the line, but Shimano have stated that it is just part of the design which allows the motor to have less drag. I try to look at it now like the noise the ratchet system makes in a car handbrake. The wear exerted is microscopic, and in the EP8's case the rattle is most likely saving wear on other parts.
The prices of these bikes are all just getting ridiculous. You're literally talking superbike money, it's just the brand's taking the preverbial out of cyclists/MTB because they'll know they'll pay it if they think it will make them faster/lighter!
We are in the middle of the the mtb version of the tulip bubble. Prices are getting ridiculous, without any connection to reality. Most of the price is made of air. The Yeti is a beauty and so are most of the e-bikes on the market but the prices are a joke
Price is bonkers, could have two half decent e bikes at this price or one upgraded and match the ride quality of the Yeti and still have some change from 12 large??
One of the best bike reviews video I ever seen. Great job Rob 👏. Your review was spot on. It is an amazing bike but at that pricepoint it should be perfect.
Thought I would google electric mopeds. NIU do one with a 3,500W Bosch motor, 2 x 35AH Panasonic Lithium batteries good for 77mile range, LED lights etc etc..Price? - £3,700 in the UK. Yes, I know it's not the same but the price difference shows what a total rip off EMTBs are!
Hey Rob Rides Emtb! You achieved cinematic excellence rarely seen in RUclips MTB! The price makes me think! Would I enjoy the ride on that ebike as much as a ride with 2 good ebikes and best friend on the spare I could get for the cost of the Yeti? Ride ride ride!
I was really surprised when I saw Yeti and Nukeproof both going for the EP-8. I told Commencal I canceled my order only because of that and bought a Trek Rail.
I rarely mention costs of emtb's because we all know they're expensive, and even though you love the bike and the subjective feel is right for you .... I am struggling to see the justification for the price. Yes, people will say Yeti held back and did lots of R&D, but so did everyone else. However (and this is for you Rob! 😜) .... I don't think it's fair to continually mention and complain about things like the noise of the Shimano motor (and yes its a valid complaint), unless you equally complain about costs and value for money. I am sure other brands with similar geometry and kinematics could have better level of components at a fraction of the cost. Yes, you mentioned the cost, but tell the manufacturers that this wrong and needs to be remedied, not just percentage indicators for the battery. I'm all about getting as many people out in their bikes (only mountain bikes obviously 😉) and being completely inclusive .... we love you Rob, but anyone who is keen on getting in to mountain biking and watching your video would be wondering ... "WHY IS HE NOT LOSING HIS SH*T OVER THE COST!". You're our voice Rob, yes it's a monotonous complaint but only for those that are willing to pay it. I know you have done videos on cheebs etc ... that's not my moan ... its when you do review a bike like the Yeti .... try not to normalise the cost. It ain't normal! Rant over ... 😁 🏴❤🏴
I do agree. The ridiculous pricing should be complained more often by the reviewers. I can buy two 650cc HONDA motorbikes for the price in my neck of the woods, or almost 2,5 cross motorbikes for the price. There is no way the thing costs this much. It is just a plain scam, with mechanical shifter, and a cheap display, and a stock low power charger and the rattle. At 13200.- eur. Sorry, how did we get to this?
@@jevgeniardassov you're going to get replies saying that you can't compare it with motorbikes .... and I agree. I understand the logic, but to be honest it has a much bigger financial impact just comparing to other similar emtb's.

Great vid Rob.. I agree about the shimano shortcomings.. I've got a Santa Cruz Bullit and I broke the on board charge port before I'd even ridden the bike! 🤦🏻♂️ You do tune out to the rattle too and it would deffo be good if they could let you know how much % of the battery is left. This Yeti is one hell of a good looking bike though and I reckon they used a shimano drive to keep the weight down. I wouldn't wanna be your wife when it goes back! 😅😂😂👍🏼
Great review, nice bike, but the price is insane. I could buy 2 bikes for this price, which are probably just as good. I really would like to see a comparison between this one and 5 grand other bike in a real world and see how much of a difference the price makes. I have 3 e-Bikes (you know, 2 kids@home), ridden several others and the differences between major brands are really small in certain bike categories. So should be differences in prices.
Hi Rob Been waiting for your review on this, great vid as always 👍 It has to be one of the best looking ebikes but very disappointed to hear it has the dreaded motor rattle. It will be interesting to see how the little niggles transpire with long term ownership. Would love to have one of these but with the high £ I’ll be waiting a good couple of years for a second hand one to come up.
Hi Lee. Every single EP8 bike has this noise. It’s annoying to start with but honestly i wouldn’t let it put me off owning something with it on. It’s just got to be mentioned in these videos as a lot of folks will hear it when they ride it for the first time. It does disappear into the background. But I do hope it’s something that Shimano can work on for future motors.
I agree with Rob. But I would add the competition at the same price with excellent performance non Shimano doesn't rattle. The Specialized Turbo Levo is epic and dead silent.
@@alexbiketester The competition that doesn't rattle on the downs, whines on the ups. At least the Shimano is very discreet on those long climbs. I HATE the rattle, but until someone comes out with a properly quiet motor on both the ups and the downs I'll stick with it.
Have to agree with Rob, you do “tune it out”, but I hate my Levo SL whine when climbing and would gladly swap that for rattling going down. I have a coil front end and rattles too, so maybe I wouldn’t notice it as much either. Stellar review Rob!
I think the price point has pushed the boundary too far. There are many people commenting about the high price and I bet many could buy one if they wanted to, the point of difference now is that we are at the level where even the most affluent enthusiasts are baulking at price...and with good reason.
All these people complaining about the price. Two things a) it's an e bike and therefore relatively more expensive, and b) it's a Yeti - they have always priced themselves at the top of the market as a boutique brand and this is no different. Even if it cost the same as your £3k ebike to produce and market you can bet Yeti would still have it for sale at these 5 figure prices. It's just what they do.
Hi Rob, I think charging ports are something all the brands can work on to make them more robust and less susceptible to wear / damage and water ingress.
Maybe they could switch to induction charging like many cell phones have. That would eliminate the possibility of getting dirt or moisture in the charging port.
thanks for another awesome vid pal...i have a santa cruz bullit xt, the rattle dont bother me at all i have to say. the ep8 is absolut stunning...and compared to my other bikes fitted with the older bosch and the other one withe the new bosch motor and my dads bike with the new panasonic drive ... i like the ep8 the most. and by the way the ep8 integrates into the frame so nicely and dont look bulky at all, like that horrible brose in in the specialized turbo levo. dont get me wrong ...the upper part of the levo frame is fab looking , but that bulky lower bottom bracket with that brose looks like sh.....cheers from germany
Great review but man the Shimano charging port controversy makes me laugh😂. Maybe I got lucky but I figured out how to close it day one and it’s one of my favorite. All you have to do is put the top/front in first and then push the bottom/back down and it literally pops right into place with ease.
I have an e-sommet with the ep8 and your right you don't notice it after a while...but others do on the vids we make....and I'd love to see a % on the battery..would be so much better than the 5 bars..
Good video Rob, many thanks. A few thoughts, as soon as that (afterthought) drain hole fills with mud it then becomes an £11k mobile bird bath and apart from the trick Infinity linkage I'm not seeing anything groundbreaking that isn't already available elsewhere? It's undoubtedly a fantastic bike but it's an unobtainable jewel for the majority of riders in the real world. Hey-ho!
I think they should of kept the Levo gen 3 with 29” wheels, like the Sl kenevo. Giant are now using the 85nm Yamaha motor. That could be a good option if Shimano don’t sort that rattle for 2023. It’s an amazing looking bike just paying that much for a bike. Is it that much better than the Levo S works ? Have a look at the emtb from a spin off of the swiss company BMC, called the Scor. What a bike, looks just like the Kenevo sl only £7000 with full fox factory Suspention. You must try do a review on one Rob.
2022 Levo S-Works is more expensive then the Yeti-160E. Owned both of them, Yeti hands down. Climbs better and slays the dh. Levo does have its advantages with motor and bigger battery, just very frustrating with all the mechanical issues. Can't really go wrong with either bike.
I agree with everyone that thinks any EMTB over 10,000 is stupid. I rate all these EMTBs on my fun scale. The fun scale is basically how much fun can you have on a particular bike. I have a maximum of 100% fun for $4799 on my husqvarna mountain cross. So anything above that in price is a waste of money.
A lot of people focusing on price. The reality is, these bikes are not made for the "average" cyclist. We shouldn't complain that these bikes exist, that's not the issue - in my opinion, the real issue are these bike "pundits" / RUclipsrs who accept payment to talk exclusively about these "out of reach products". Theres nothing wrong with bike companies offering a range of products to suit everyone's price level (poor to rich) - but all these paid advertisers do, is constantly force feed us these outlandish products - why don't we hear more about the affordable rides?
People are financing bikes now. 2 years ago high end bikes were tough to move, now there are many financing options and that's all the customers want now. Bike prices will never go down, unless a global reset takes place on all goods
I just don’t get the rattle complaint with the ep8. My Trek Powerfly with Bosch rattled TERRIBLE, my Canyon Spectral with ep8 is SILENT? What gives? Btw, the ep8 port cover, you have to put the end that’s away from the tag that holds it to the bike first , then it goes in like butter. Trying to tuck away that tag and then use the cover just doesn’t work.
No matter how hard I try, I can't get the EP8 motor to rattle. I'm not trying to be cheeky but could it be that you're mistaking the sound for that of cables rattling against each other?
Great review Rob but once again me being me I couldn't see myself spending 5 figures for a rattling motor like this I mean overall the bike looks really great and handles well but it's just the motor that really let's it down.
Is there the possibility to switch out the motor for a different brand? Seems like you'd have the ultimate e-mtb with another motor, display & charger.
For 11k it should be head and shoulders above anything else on the market , having your pants pulled down without the happy ending , or taking the piss ,, blimey Dave 11 grand ,, cheers Shane uk 🇬🇧
Lollollol @ all you people whining about the price. This bike is as much the bike for most people as a Koenigsegg or Bugatti is a car for them. Just marvel at its beauty and engineering and move on like you would said cars. It´s not "just a bike", it´s the very pinnacle of bikes. There are offerings out there that are 95% as good at half the price. Let the rich people have their exclusive rides for themselves.
There is 1 problem with the exotic car comparison, though - it uses the same motor as something half (or less) of the price. I haven't seen too many exotic cars that have a Hyundai, GM or Nissan engine :) I definitely understand what you are saying, but I think the problem is that it has too much in common with a bike half the price, to really show off it's superiority. Say you have drive a Volkswagen & you can upgrade to a Mercedes for twice the cost. You are going to expect better quality, better tech, more comfort etc & no parts really shared between them. You don't just expect to get a Mercedes chassis, with the same Volkswagen parts bolted to it. PS. I have nothing against the bike itself, it looks dope af. Also not trying to argue with you at all, just saying that I think this situation goes a long way towards explaining why people are really finding the price hard to swallow.
Hey Rob nice review. Besides having a hard time bitting my tongue on a e bike that cost as much as a top of the line dirt bike is it fair to say you almost have to pic a bike more off of a motor and battery than the bike. If 3 of us went riding and we each had 1 of the 3 big motor in our bikes would it be noticeable?
I know these are the top of the line BUT breaking down the cost of every separate component, does this actually equate to £11k+. It’s beyond me. Can anyone give tips on how the hell you finance something that costs this much. I work hard as a father of two but this is a pipe dream for me with a family.
If you can't pay cash and not notice dropping $10-$12K, no way this bike is for you. It's a 1%er bike. Go buy something from Frey - less than half the cost for a very nice emtb with 2-3 the torque (Bafang Ultra motor) and twice the battery (1kw)
Sorry but at that price that is very much a deal breaker. No percentage guage forget it. Why the hell did yeti go with Shimano?????? Fantastic review bro well done.
My superdelite was expensive too but if you want the best quality bike built to last then you need to shell out the cash. It's a work bike i will be putting 50 to 70 miles daily and claiming depreciation on my taxes so I got the best and most reliable bike I could find.
Beautiful bike and great review........ but £11k? Thats motorbike money and they weigh 170kg with abs, electronics suite and most importantly suspension only to a finite number of models and not and not shared throughout every brand on the planet. The prices are artificially high. Considering it is £60 for a 12speed chain that may last 4 to 500 miles (just in the process of finding out) when an 11speed normal bike starts at £12 for a durable chain. same with brake pads. The industry's taking the Mickey, this is not different than printer ink. made in bulk with an extortionate markup. The question is, is there a ceiling to hit?

I hear you, the Yeti in that spec costs more than 3 times what I paid for my Canyon Spectral:ON in March 2020. I could buy a new battery and EP8 motor upgrades and I would still be lower than half of the price.
Same thing as Rolls Royce vs Toyota .... Both will get you from point A to point B. (I'm a Toyota guy, but it's cool to look at the Rolls-Royce).
@@tonykasunic1 I would put Specialized well above Yeti, and they are now just as insanely expensive.
@@tonykasunic1 it's really not. A better analogy would be that it's Rolls Royce Vs Bentley in that I can't really tell the difference when I'm riding in them, but one of them costs twice as much as the other for some reason.
Fair do’s Rob, you said it as it was despite the ‘paid content disclaimer’. I, like most, couldn’t get past the £££££ tag. Wouldn’t it make great business sense to build a fantastic bike for less?
R&D, salaries, overheads, profitability…….blah blah blah.
Yeah a e-bike the price of a ducati is just crazy…
Can’t wait for the Giant Reign E review!!
Louis- it does look good.
Can’t wait to pick mine up!!!
YES! That's the bike I'm going to get! Still waiting for the damn thing to show up on Giant USA's website though :/
As a "vertically challenged" rider at 5'6 (168cm) with a short inseam, 29er rear is a deal breaker. No way I'll EVER buy a bike with a 29er in the rear. I'm going with the 2022 Reign E+ with mullet setup.
EDIT: Oh yeah, that astronomical price tag is also a deal breaker, lol
Be taller, problem solved! Haha
@@th_js I initially read your reply as "be baller" lol
@@simony2801 Read more carefully, OP is looking for top spec, nothing about spending for spending's sake.
Get one with a Bosch motor. After trying a few the Bosch seemed to be the best.
I've rode all the motors and own a Bosch powered one now and if I was to buy another it would be the Bosch again, mega reliable up to now 600 mile in 6 months.
Would love this bike but not sure it's worth double the price of my Haibike Allmtn7. You absolutely flew down the end of El Capitan!
@@brettmansfield because ratcheting hubs aren't annoying as fuck!
Imagine paying 11K for an ebike that sounds like a 3 k ebike
This bike is for sale at £6000 reduced from £11’000 in a shop near me because they can’t sell it ! No one wants it !
The prices of these bikes are all just getting ridiculous. You're literally talking superbike money, it's just the brand's taking the preverbial out of cyclists/MTB because they'll know they'll pay it if they think it will make them faster/lighter!
The more-money-than-brains club
@@jasper_of_puppets It's our brains that earned us all that money😉 Can't take it with you, might as well enjoy it!
We are in the middle of the the mtb version of the tulip bubble. Prices are getting ridiculous, without any connection to reality. Most of the price is made of air.
The Yeti is a beauty and so are most of the e-bikes on the market but the prices are a joke
Agree . A lot of things right now is in a tulip bubble ,waiting to explode big time
Price is bonkers, could have two half decent e bikes at this price or one upgraded and match the ride quality of the Yeti and still have some change from 12 large??
Do Yeti know something about the EP8 we don't? Upgrade to firmware possibly?
Looks stunning in pastal mint though. Very pretty machine!
I told Commencal I canceled my order only because of that and bought a Trek Rail.
love the understated appearance. Very stealth.
Soon as I heard it was EP8 powered I tuned out.
🏴❤🏴
Looks nice but not 12k would love to see the sales orders ?decent spec you can buy for well under 6k ,interesting test though .
Price is kind a hit in your face. I thought my bullit was expensive. I also would have expected full AXS on a build in this pricerange. I mean if it rides incredible its good but is it worth the extra money compared to the bullit which is also an excellent bike with the same love to details and manufacturing quality?
The Yeti is SO CLOSE to a Bullit…just heavier. 😉
You can have my AXS, gladly switch to Hyperglide!
160mm cranks... about time!!!
Nice one Rob looks like a fantastic bike!
Great review rob yes you hit the nail on the head hear 11k bike u expect the best and for me the motor isn’t these high end brands should give you the option of witch motor set up u want to run when spending 11k on a bike me personally if this had the Bosch new motor set up it would be even more desirable option of 750watt battery or the smaller 625 watt these option should be at your disposal as this price point
How does it compare to the previous leader, 2022 Levo?
Great vid Rob.. I agree about the shimano shortcomings.. I've got a Santa Cruz Bullit and I broke the on board charge port before I'd even ridden the bike! 🤦🏻♂️ You do tune out to the rattle too and it would deffo be good if they could let you know how much % of the battery is left. This Yeti is one hell of a good looking bike though and I reckon they used a shimano drive to keep the weight down. I wouldn't wanna be your wife when it goes back! 😅😂😂👍🏼
For that price it ought to open me a beer and wash itself when i'm done with it!
Hi Rob
Been waiting for your review on this, great vid as always 👍 It has to be one of the best looking ebikes but very disappointed to hear it has the dreaded motor rattle.
Really nice bike at a very scary price.
Thanks for review! Can you change out the bars without being a electrician?
All these people complaining about the price. Two things a) it's an e bike and therefore relatively more expensive, and b) it's a Yeti - they have always priced themselves at the top of the market as a boutique brand and this is no different. Even if it cost the same as your £3k ebike to produce and market you can bet Yeti would still have it for sale at these 5 figure prices. It's just what they do.
Correct! Even though I have my Levo SL sorted out now, I will have a 160E in the stable along side my SB4.5, they are just that good.
Great video. Being a yeti owner I have always appreciated the quality in its finish and ride. The only thing that always hurts is my wallet !!!
How much ! hopefully this Tech will filter donw to more realistic priced bikes, great review Rob keep them coming.
Great review! Thanks!
Great review Rob, thanks
WOW!! Realy Super!! Only problem is the price, maybe reducing some components we Can get a lower price. Congratulations for the overview!
Brilliant review mate 👍
Exactly why I really really hope that Evil goes with the new Bosch system.
I have an e-sommet with the ep8 and your right you don't notice it after a while...but others do on the vids we make....and I'd love to see a % on the battery..would be so much better than the 5 bars..
Waiting on mine to arrive
It’s fantastic EMTB
Very clean and good designed emtb....!
Thank you brother.👏👏👍
A lot of people focusing on price. The reality is, these bikes are not made for the "average" cyclist. We shouldn't complain that these bikes exist, that's not the issue - in my opinion, the real issue are these bike "pundits" / RUclipsrs who accept payment to talk exclusively about these "out of reach products". Theres nothing wrong with bike companies offering a range of products to suit everyone's price level (poor to rich) - but all these paid advertisers do, is constantly force feed us these outlandish products - why don't we hear more about the affordable rides?
Well said. Presume you are not referring to Rob?
amaizing video. btw i like you helmet, where did you buy it?
Its the Specialized Ambush :-)
@@RobRidesEMTB Thanks :) and one more question please : do you plan to make a video with Cube 140 or 160 TM 750 2022?
Hope so!
Mate, you should test the Forestal Siryon !!! good video btw 👌
1:50 nice cable management
Rob... How does it compare to the Bullit in descending, climbing, suspension feel, and overall ride handling?
No matter how hard I try, I can't get the EP8 motor to rattle. I'm not trying to be cheeky but could it be that you're mistaking the sound for that of cables rattling against each other?
Loved my Yeti arc, such a great bike and so much thought went into the design. Sad to sell that bike but it just wasn't right for me.
Hey Rob. Do you convert your GoPro Files before editing or is the H.264 MP4 output just fine?
Great review Rob but once again me being me I couldn't see myself spending 5 figures for a rattling motor like this I mean overall the bike looks really great and handles well but it's just the motor that really let's it down.
Hey Rob, is this bike better then the specialized pro levo? It’s about the same price. My last bike had the EP8. I was not a fan of it at all.
Is there the possibility to switch out the motor for a different brand? Seems like you'd have the ultimate e-mtb with another motor, display & charger.
I doubt it, because... bike industry.
Manufacturers love their proprietary parts too much to want to agree to open standards.
For 11k it should be head and shoulders above anything else on the market , having your pants pulled down without the happy ending , or taking the piss ,, blimey Dave 11 grand ,, cheers Shane uk 🇬🇧
Twelve. Grand. ...yes, it's a lovely bit of kit with top specs, but twelve thousand?
Exactly my thoughts… Honey I do love You, but 12 grand, sorry, gotta go… 🤷🏻♂️
nice is thecheeb v2 coming
Yes!
Holy balls of steel ! How much Rob! How far are they going to take cost!
Absolutely outstanding! I have the SB150! Yeti is perfect :)
is it twice as good as a haibike all mtn 7?
Lollollol @ all you people whining about the price. This bike is as much the bike for most people as a Koenigsegg or Bugatti is a car for them. Just marvel at its beauty and engineering and move on like you would said cars. It´s not "just a bike", it´s the very pinnacle of bikes. There are offerings out there that are 95% as good at half the price. Let the rich people have their exclusive rides for themselves.
There is 1 problem with the exotic car comparison, though - it uses the same motor as something half (or less) of the price.
I haven't seen too many exotic cars that have a Hyundai, GM or Nissan engine :)
I definitely understand what you are saying, but I think the problem is that it has too much in common with a bike half the price, to really show off it's superiority.
Say you have drive a Volkswagen & you can upgrade to a Mercedes for twice the cost. You are going to expect better quality, better tech, more comfort etc & no parts really shared
between them.
Thats a nice looking bike. If Yeti can sort the imperfections, i would be interested well once ive paid for my 2022 fuel ex 9.8
All Ebikes available, you can only have 1, cash is not an issue, which bike are you buying?
My superdelite was expensive too but if you want the best quality bike built to last then you need to shell out the cash. It's a work bike i will be putting 50 to 70 miles daily and claiming depreciation on my taxes so I got the best and most reliable bike I could find.
New Yamaha motor in New giant Enduro 😁😁😁😁
I wanted this bike so badly. What a shame they didn't go with a propper motor manufacturer. :(
Ep8 is a good motor. Yeah I’m sure that’s why you didn’t buy it 😂
Crazy to buy a bike with this price tag
Well it has a 85nm motor and a 630 battery, the same as my cube140 which I love, what am I missing. Perhaps the emperor has no clothes. Just saying.
Yes, the battery power and capacity are obviously the only factors to consider here 👍🏻
Beautiful bike and great review........
Hey Rob! Would you trade the s-works for the yeti?
They should transition ALL Ebike to Gearbox. Bike is already big and heavy a gearbox would be awesome on these bikes!
Its 20 thousand Australian Dollars, insane. And it takes a year to get one in Australia.
Will be a big seller for sure..
nice bike - we're still not there yet
