Very helpful video, Dave. Thank you! By the way, how useful (or not) is the K's own navigation feature - the 'new' BMW system? Also, when you can, could you please share your experience and opinion about the GSA vs. the K1600GT, how the bikes compare in riding, rallying, etc. (I'm considering a similar change.) Thanks again for this great channel. Avi.
The BMW Nav system isn't very good, it may work ok, but when it loses connection, and it does often, you loose incite of upcoming turns. When the system does work, map mode, it ties up your phone completely. If you need to send a text or email or anything it disrupts map mode....As far as a bike comparison. Let me see what I can do. Thanks for watching...Dave
@@KendallAdventureandTravel Thank you. (A friend who rides a K1600 told me the navigation system improved somewhat after the dealer run a software update recently.) Looking forward to your thoughts on the GT vs. the GSA. Love your channel!
I am an apple guy, in the App Store it doesn't have a name, but it comes up first when I searched...Look for the symbol that I show when I open it....Wish I had a better answer....Dave
@@KendallAdventureandTravelDave: Thanks for all your videos. A few questions about the iPad. What size iPad do you use? For it to work while you’re riding, do you use your phone as a hot spot? Or does it have built in cell service? Any issues with it overheating? Which mount do you use? What case do you use? Sorry for the long list.
@@waltermitty7452 Great questions: So I started with the IPAD case, and wanted to use a quad lock to mount it, so at the time the only case quad lock sold was for the IPAD mini version 6, so I started there. The iPad came next, it does have its own cell service, and I think that cost me like $20 a month?. When it came time to mount it, I had started this on my GSA and used it there, I built a mount from quadlocck parts that went on my tank bag. Now on the K1600 GT, I use a BCD designs mount, it's made for the quad lock. I didn't know at the time, but IPADS do not have the metal back to allow for wireless charging. If you look at my channel I did a video on the mount when I installed it on my K1600. Hope this helps...Dave
great info, ive been making it too complicated this year.this might make me change what im doing next year
Hope this helped...I dropped a GPS unit after using the IPAD...Dave
