I use the Garmin GLO, it’s Bluetooth, doesn’t need to be plugged into the iPad. I used it for a coast to coast bicycle race across the USA, it was in a follow support car. Never dropped the signal. I downloaded the maps before and had to create map files for different sections because of the file size.
Does it mean that if I download the maps in advance, then use the adaptor to connect the GPS module with the iPad, the iPad will work perfectly for navigation and logging the track without any internet connection?
It does work with Google maps with downloaded maps, but the position is a bit off. In Australia though, Google maps for the outback are pretty basic I've been told.
Thanks, apple told me my new to me iPad Pro 12.9 WiFi only does have built in gps … apparently they are wrong. Thanks to farmed out phone service support
does this solution work with Apple Maps online? I have an iPad without cellular and I would like to use it as a navigation device, and the germin solution is too expensive by Polish standards
Not Likely. As in the video, the Apple maps app shows you the position but there is no map behind it because it uses its internet connection to populate the maps.
So if I connect the module via USB and connect the iPad with a hotspot there is no chance it would work? I am looking for some cheaper option than the germin glo 2 as it is just terribly expensive by Polish standards
@@southsidecbradios8690 I tested it, on the hotspot it works with a huge delay of 1-2 minutes and with an accuracy of 25 to 100 meters and this in the city. On the road it doesn't work either at all or with even less accuracy and more delay

Can you share what's the make and model of the exact adapter you used?

@@johnnytam544 - I use an app called - Ride With GPS. Technically is a cycling app however it works perfectly for vehicle travel.
Can I use another phone as a GPS receiver by connecting it via Bluetooth? Since here in Argentina the GLO is very expensive
Is it VK-162 gps receiver module?
Luke this one?
Could you not download the apples maps section your expecting to travel as offline, and use the gps receiver then?

If you connect your iPad to hotspot it will find location through that alone. No need for the Module.

@@southsidecbradios8690you mean if you connect your iPad to your iPhone to access internet over hotspot, it transfer GPS data too? Are you sure?
The link doesn’t work, what is the name of the gps device
Is it true? Can someone prove it? i'm already to buy Garmin GLO 2 before saw this video.
Thankyou🎉
