Excellent in-depth review of an alternative to Google Maps for navigation. We need to see more people using non-Big Tech apps if we want technology to become more innovative, to see smaller firms hire developers and for prices to come down too. Well done. Glad i cam across your video as i was debating on whether to purchase a map update for my Magellan car GPS, which will cost me $119. For all the extra info and feature, i think the premium service is definitely worth it. My only concern is Sygic does not have customer phone support service, all question and help muct be communicated by email which requires 3-4 business days to respond according to their website. But i am still planning to purchase one of their premium map service based on your review and I just have a couple of questions: 1) Even though the map can be downloaded on to the phone, how will the GPS tracker work if there is no internet, or no cellphone connection? 2) on their website, is the "Sygic Travel" product an add-on or a stand alone product? Thanky ou in advance for your help. You should partner up with Sygic and share a link on to download tge product on PC.
For travellers in the USA it only offers maps state by state, so if you are travelling through multiple states, as often happens, it does not seem to be able to provide a continuous route driving directions.
Hi ı am using whole life version of Sygic for many years (paid). This year planning to go to Azerbaijan. And it does not allow me to get the directions in one place to another in Baku? Thank you.
Thank you for this video it was a great help I just bought the premium for £12.99 would you know if the smart cam when you have that on does it saves the video in clips for a long journey or one long video Regards Steve UK London
Remarkable that you never mention that the free version has no audio or on-screen directional instructions! I quickly subscribed to the full version after discovering that.
would never even consider a gps without audio traffic instructions. Governments should ban such navigation aids as a dangerous distraction. Shame on sygic.
10:25 "I never know what speed I am supposed to be doing, 'cause I'm not constantly staring at road signs" No, because you are constantly staring at your GPS. However, I don't think that will stand up as a defence for your speeding fines as the law is associated with the actual signs/speed limits. Not your GPS.
Useful info thank you Sir. If you pay for the full version, can you install it on multiple device. Eg I have Samsung Note20+ and and Tablet by Samsung. Can you then use on both or do you need a separate payment for each device you own!
You only needto pay for one account for multiple devices - so long as you have same gmail for each android - same goes for ipad and iphone - only need to pay once if deveices have same email log in and payment card
One question Sir, I am using or better to say I have Sygic with Premium+ at my iPhone, how to use the same subscription in my car at google android multimedia device, where Sygic is installed and works with gps antenna?
How's it going....Ok...so..i just downloaded the states from point a. to point b...I want offline map. So, all I do is follow the blue line? With google maps offline...it tells you.. 15 miles.... " stay right" 1 mile...etc...turn left 500 ft...etc.. I might be on the highway and there's a fork in the road...i might accidently take the wrong one.. no?
Google maps doesn’t need the Internet. There’s a feature called offline maps that allows you to download any area of the UK, no matter the size in those cases you don’t have the Internet.
Correct. Google maps has had this feature for awhile. In fact all major maps (Apple, Magellan, etc) have offline mode where as you pointed out, you download the portions of the map you need. These maps often still require either periodic cellular or GPS reception in order to ensure correct mapping. So while technically offline maps work without data cell reception or "internet" they are using gps.. This is because obviously satellite reception can be had anywhere there is open sky, whereas data cell reception requires towers and infrastructure built in close proximity to a phone. Also take note google maps downloads expire and self delete after 30 days. Sonyoy must re-download the map sections.
@@user-sl4ul4nc3t If you don’t have mobile data how does the gps know where you are? You have the map downloaded but how does it pinpoint and guide you ? Phones don’t come with satellite do they? Even the iPhone 14 it’s only for emergencies
@@XDMIIIIIIIII Modern smartphones are always receiving data from satellites. It's how our phones know the current time of wherever we're at. Mobile data allows us to 'connect' to satellites or cellular towers to receive an internet connection, which isn't needed to determine your position.
GPS does not use mobile data. It triangulates satellite positions, to pinpoint yours. Think compass... If your map is stored in your phone's memory, and the GPS knows where you are, the rest is just magic. : )
The GPS receiver on your phone calculates its own location by triangulating its position based on the strength and timing of the signals it receives from multiple satellites. The app takes that collected info to display on your downloaded map.
