How wonderful to see Marilyn with you! I hope you enjoyed your visit together.
Thanks Arianne! We are having a blast. We visited Butchart Garden today. 🌸
Oh my goodness! My heart leapt when I saw the thumbnail picture of the two of you! It is so wonderful to see you together. I have been waiting all week for this video. I hope that you are having a wonderful visit. Now I need to watch the video! I just had to share my joy at seeing you together!
Pat, your reaction has touched my heart. Thanks so much for your comment. 🥰 Enjoy our video. 🤗😘
@@lindysmagpiereads I’m loving hearing you both and watching you interact. Listening to you both talk about Alice Munro now! 💔
Same!
@@MargaretPinard aren’t they adorable? This has done my heart such good! 🥰
Thank you, Pat and Margaret for watching and all your kind comments. Aloha❤
"It's a little chillly" 😂 "Warm hearts" 💗You guys are so cute!
Awwwww 🥰
This was such an enjoyable chat between the two of you. Loved it. 💜
Thank you Zan ☺️🤗
Wonderful to see you both together! Welcome to Canada, Maya. You are in good hands. Love hearing about your bookish adventures. 😊💙
Thanks Jolene. The adventures continue. We might need to record a part 2!
@@lindysmagpiereads That would be awesome! 💙
It looks like you and Marilyn are having the best time. Great to see.
And I enjoyed your participation on Shawn's panel about Alice Munro. For some reason I thought you were going to be discussing The Moons of Jupiter, so I read it in anticipation of the video. I have no idea how my brain switched that story from The Dance of the Happy Shades. But it was a good mistake because I enjoyed the story I read. There are so many good ones yet for me to discover. Have a good rest of your visit (or if it's over, a good weekend!)
Thanks Sonya. The good times are still rolling with Marilyn’s visit!
As for the the Munro story confusion, was it perhaps music related? Thinking of Jupiter the Bringer of Jollity in Holst’s Planets instead of Gluck’s Dance of the Happy Shades? In any case, no matter, because you can’t go wrong reading something by Munro.
What a treat! It's so great to see you both together! The vacation sounds wonderful. I also loved hearing you two talking about Alice Munro. I loved The Round House and The Sentence. This video was a joy!
Thanks Angelia! I hope it doesn’t take me too long to get to my new copies of Louise Erdrich‘s books. (I say that like I have no control over my reading, but I think you know what I mean.)
This makes me so happy! Seeing you both together and enjoying yourselves is wonderful. For mental health May I’ve been reading whatever and whenever I feel like it, which has been lovely. That is rare for me but I have It’s been very good for me! Loved this and the pictures and footage of your escapades together. How lovely!
Jack, thanks for your sweet comments. I hope your Mental Health May reading prescription continues through the coming year. 😊

How fun to see you both together. Of course Canada would seem chilly for Marilyn coming from Hawaii!!
Janet, thanks for watching. I turned up the thermostat indoors for Marilyn and her daughter, but there wasn’t anything I could do about the weather except to lend her a warmer jacket. 😁
Hi Janet, by the time the video ended my teeth were chattering. But it was worth it! Aloha.
Yay! I love this!! And need to visit Vancouver Island too! Yay, bookshops and tea 🫖
Margaret, let me know when you visit this part of the world. I would love to meet up!
Hello Margaret, maybe we can all meet up. Aloha friend.
Employee-owned book co-op?! Yet another flag going on my google maps 🔥
Sorry! I misrepresented the scenario: when Jim Munro retired, he turned over the bookstore to four long-term employees. Marilyn did visit a co-op bookstore in Vancouver (People’s Co-op).
💖💖💖! What a joyful time seeing you together for bookish adventures.
Thank you Rebecca! 🥰
Watching you two together, just made my morning! I always like mentions of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul) too. I haven't read The Antelope Wife yet. I seem to always read Erdrichs books out of order. I read the Munro short story mentioned, last night. Very good, but a bit sad.
Good morning Barbara! Did you read The Beggar Maid? Or Dance of the Happy Shades? (Or both?) Munro’s stories do tend to evoke a mix of emotions … like life.
It was the Dance of the Happy Shadestat I read. Pretty impressive for an earlier effort.
@@barbaraboethling596 agreed!
How wonderful to see you two together! You have a lovely rapport together. I have read very little Alice Munro in my life and must remedy that sometime soon. (And yay for beets and turnips!)
Thanks Hannah! May you have many hours of enjoyment reading Alice Munro.
Marilyn tasted more firsts today: fiddleheads, green peppercorns, birch syrup and dandelion jelly.
@@lindysmagpiereads That sounds wonderful!
I just couldn't stop smiling while watching your video. Both of you are such a great source of positivity and good vibes. You know, when two kind hearts meet, they amplify ❤
Thank you for sharing ❤
Aleksandra, you are so kind! Thanks for your lovely comments. 🥰
Thank you for your lovely comment. Aloha.❤
Oh how lovely to see you together. I bet you had a glorious time. Thank you for letting us in on a bit of it.
I remember quite enjoying Hideous Kinky.
Ros, thanks for your lovely comments. I’m glad to hear your favourable reaction to Hideous Kinky. 😊
Point Zero sounds great. I had the pleasure of seeing Berest at the US book launch. She was fascinating. She clarifies that Postcard is a novel because she needed to change some details and speed up the timeline. However, much of the book is true. Enjoy. Love to see you meet in person. What a treat.
Thanks Sarah! 😊
I don’t read many mysteries but Point Zero sounds good to me too. And Postcards was already on my TBR.
Hi Sarah, it was wonderful to meet Lindy in person. She’s just the same wonderfully authentic person you see on her videos. Aloha friend.
What a fun video! I went to Upstart and Crow for the first time in March and picked up four great books there. I have read all but one of Erdrich's novels for adults (I have yet to read The Painted Drum, also I have only read Antelope Woman and not Antelope Wife, and they are fairly different, surprisingly!) and the book that features German immigrants more than Indigenous people as main characters is The Master Butchers Singing Club. Not surprisingly there is still some overlap with her Love Medicine series though!
Katie, thanks for sharing details about Erdrich’s novels. You sound well-acquainted with her work. 😊
@@lindysmagpiereads it has been a fun project with reader friends even though there were a few books I didn’t enjoy. Not because they weren’t well written, though! Just not all were my cup of tea.
