    Beautiful and for me unusual flowers. Every day, my mother took me to the Brooklyn botanical Gardens when the lilacs were in bloom. It was always on her birthday in May so it was bittersweet to see the lilacs. I never had Farrah Fawcetthair. No matter the decade, I wore my hair long and straight with bangs. Now that my thick hair has turned thin, I keep it pretty short; in fact, I plan to cut it tomorrow. See you soon. I love your reading style. Aloha to your friend.

    Hi Lindy. That dandelion latte looks delicious, and I love how you kind of matched the decor! 😊 Last Woman sounds like something I want to read. De Rosario’s book does also, but I might find it almost too disturbing. The real-life monsters she’s encountered are horrifying. Great video, as usual!

      Thanks Pat. I expect to see Last Woman on award lists 🤞 and Dinner on Monster Island might receive recognition as well. There’s a lot to get indignant/enraged about in De Rozario‘a memoir, and I really appreciated the way it opened my eyes to life in Singapore.

    We don't see those rhododendrons as much here, but I remember them thriving back there all over the place, so nice to see some. The rhody festival should be this month on the peninsula I think, used to love going to that.

      @@lindysmagpiereads Frankly, I am not sure when exactly lilacs blossom here, I will just feel their smell all around (I have one favourite spot in the park nearby). I am afraid it depends from year to year here in Finland. For instance, we are still eagerly waiting for cherries to blossom, and it feels every spring that there is a long lasting winter, then we blink and here is a summer. So springs are so so short. Right now it is warmer than last week, +14, but quite strong wind from the sea, which we can feel even in the city centre.

    • @lindysmagpiereads
      @lindysmagpiereads  2 месяца назад +1

      @@kassandrik I know that kind of spring because it is similar to northern Alberta. Every few years there are blizzards near the end of May in Edmonton. My family informs me that the leaves have just started to emerge on the trees there. And suddenly it will be summertime in June. Victoria has a long, luxurious spring and I love that.

      @@lindysmagpiereads Classics are probably what I enjoy most. Jane Austen and Leo Tolstoy are top authors for me. I also love historical fiction, non fiction, memoirs, literary fiction, and translated fiction. I find my taste hard to pin down but I tend to not need a lot of plot and like when books are character focused and discuss human experiences, relationships and connection, maybe get a little philosophical, and/or discuss art (I love art). Lately I've been trying a lot of new literary fiction and haven't liked a lot of it so I'm trying to branch out more. Some other random favorites are The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende, Heavy by Kiese Laymon, Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, Women, Race and Class by Angela Davis, and Gilead by Marilynne Robinson.
