The vest I’m knitting is from this book:
The Knitchicks’ Guide to Sweaters: Classic Styles for the Modern Knitter by Marcelle Karp and Pauline Wall
A book to accompany A City on Mars ?
The Mars House by Natasha Pulley
Ha! That’s good news Jacqueline because I am currently on the library waiting list for the Mars House. 👍
Hi Lindy, you’ve given me a few additions for my TBR and I’m excited to see if my library has some of these books. The trees book is amazing! You know how I love trees.😊
Thank you so much for taking me to the gorge where you row and I love the blue Heron. Maybe I’ll see it the next time I visit Canada. Aloha friend.
Maya, it’s too bad that you won’t be here tomorrow because my rowing club is having a Come Try Rowing day. Maybe your daughter would have liked to try it. 🛶
@@lindysmagpiereads Junette says she would have loved to go rowing with you. She also says she misses you. And Canada. Me too,
I'm surprised I haven't seen more people talking about A History of Burning. I agree that its a solid historical fiction. Another book to illustrate how much the British empire has shaped our current world.
Sad but true. Speaking of the British empire’s messes, I’m really pleased that Brotherless Night has had a double win!
Love the Weinersmiths (/ Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal) ! Hadn't heard about their book about Mars. What's always got me is how can people possible believe that it is easier to terraform an inhospitable planet than to find solutions to the problems we've created on a planet that is perfectly suited for our survival? Best left as science fiction imo.
City on Mars is excellent. I don’t know Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal but Zach Weinersmith’s Bea Wolf is very clever.
Us looks lovely, the section you shared makes me feel so hopeful.
Glad you got to 80 Trees! Brilliant and beautiful book, I found the writing so lyrical and full of information even though it is so brief.
Thanks for watching, Rebecca. Yes, 80 Trees is jam-packed with fascinating facts about trees, yet there’s something gentle and light in the presentation… perhaps it’s the delicate illustrations that give that effect.
Lindy, you're really living it up in Victoria! Amazing! Also, i just picked up Us on my trip to Spain in the original Spanish and i am so excited! I assumed it was originally written in Spanish but anyway, very excited!
Well that’s cool, that you bought the original edition of Us! I hope you enjoy it. I learned that Soler is Aragonese, a minority language & culture in Spain, but I assume that books aren’t published in Aragonese. How was your trip?
@@lindysmagpiereads looks like it was actually originally written in Catalan! Woops! Welp, either way it is a translation so i guess i will reas the spanish because i have it lol. The trip was fantastic. Such a beautiful country with friendly people and delicious food.
I like the sound of Tyger. Your rowing is inspiring. What do you not do Lindy?
Alas your online talk is at 4am where I am currently in Turkey. I hope it goes well.
@@scallydandlingaboutthebook2711 What’s wrong with getting up at 4 am? 😆😉
Tyger was a big hit with my book club. When you are back in England, I’m sure you will find it at your library. 🐅
@@lindysmagpiereads 🤯
I have signed up for the zoom! I'm looking forward to it.
Yay! 😘
@@lindysmagpiereads I really enjoyed it! Thanks for all your hard work getting that together. I checked out "Us" while on the zoom and read it last night and really liked it. Also, I'm not sure if you listen to podcasts but I listen to ABC's The Bookshelf from Australia because I like their discussions around new books. Anyways, they talked about Alphabet Diaries last week and I was really intrigued by that conversation and it made me think maybe I will actually pick it up at some point.
@@katiesikkes1527 Katie, thanks for attending! It was fun for me. And thanks for the tip about ABC’s the Bookshelf podcast. I’m curious to hear what they have to say about Alphabet Diaries.
I’m happy that you enjoyed Us. Did you find a digital copy on Hoopla?
@@lindysmagpiereads yes, I found the comic on the Yukon library’s Hoopla! And I realized that my comment re: Alphabet Diaries only makes sense if you happened to remember that I commented on your video when you discussed trying that book!
@@katiesikkes1527 on the ABC Bookshelf podcast, do they only talk about one book per episode? If so, it will be easier to search for Alphabetical Diaries
