Great request and reaction! Love this performance so much. Very psychedelic, and everybody in the band gets a chance to shine. Drummer Gavin Harrison is an absolute legend! And Mitch Hedberg rocked! 🤘
So the two biggest songs and two of the longer more progressive ones are ‘Anesthetize’ and ‘Arriving Somewhere but not here’ both of which have live versions on YT. To those I would add ‘The start of something beautiful’, ‘Trains’ and ‘Fear of a Blank Planet’ as must not miss songs by PT. Again all of these are available as Live versions on YT.
I have their "The Sky Moves Sideways" CD and it sounds more like space music ! It's instrumental mostly and sounds like Pink Floyd to me Check out "The Moon touches Your Shoulder" for a milder side from this band . Nice Reaction =) my first time seeing this performance.
Good Song and Band! I only know the Song in the Studio Version and it's less wild there. There are also some Song Juwels to discover! If you feel like it, listen to "Arriving somewhere but not here".
Love this band, they have so many great songs! But their song ‘Russia on Ice’, while dark and gorgeous, also always makes me sad because I lost my only son to alcoholism and the tortured lyrics in the song are like a retelling of all the mental and emotional struggles my son went through. My ex and I tried to help, my son had stays at both a psychiatric hospital and at rehab but he had battled severe depression and anxiety almost his whole life and ultimately chose alcohol to self medicate. He left us in 2015 and I still miss him every single day. But all that aside, I really like this band. ‘Trains’ and ‘Time Flies’ are more poignant mainstream versions of what this band can offer, just multi talented. (Adore Mitch Hedberg, it was such a loss when he passed as well. And Steve does look like him here ha.)
Sorry for your loss. I can only imagine the difficulties you have. Unfortunately, addiction has a strong hold. It took having a stroke to get me to stop. I was lucky. But nobody but myself could have made me stop. I'm positive you did all you could. 🙏. If you want a strangers ear to bend let me know. I've added those songs to do. I enjoy their music quite a bit. Thanks for the suggestion and my best to you. Take care of yourself. 🙌😊
@@B-Drags-Den Thank you so much for the kind words and blessings to you on your own journey. My son was 31 when he died and sadly alcoholism seems to run in my family line. My dad died in a car wreck when I was only 4 so I don’t really remember him but he had become an alcoholic after fighting in the Korean War and the sad irony is he had finally gotten clean and was stone sober when he hit an ice patch that November day and the car rolled over. He was just 35. But two of his brothers were also alcoholics and now one of my brother’s sons is an alcoholic and at 39 is in the hospital now with another severe bout with pancreatitis. He has 4 kids but the dr said he won’t live to see the youngest 2 grown if he doesn’t stop drinking NOW sigh. So it’s like a terrible legacy and they say there might really be a genetic aspect to addiction. I don’t drink except for a rare glass of wine and in the old days I would have a single margarita on my birthday ha. My mom’s second husband dragged her into near alcoholism alongside his own drinking problem (she ended up marrying 4 times, what a childhood I had ha!!) and seeing some of the garbage I saw growing up made me never want to act that way if and when I had my own kids. So losing my son to alcoholism really really hit hard. I am 62 now and retired early from teaching to become full time caregiver to my adult special needs daughter (who is autistic and has a chromosomal defect), and my youngest daughter is an engineer who designs space satellites and rocket payloads and loves her job. So I am blessed to still have my girls, my special needs sweetheart is forever 6-7 years old developmentally though in age she is 36 now so she’s my forever little girl in a way. My son was so good with her and she loved him so much. He taught her how to play all the Mario video games and would take her to the arcade for pizza and video games all the time.
@@SharilynBratton Thanks for sharing. I know thats tough to do especially with a stranger. I will now say that is no longer the case with us. If you ever have any questions about alcoholism please ask. that is my addiction. I am clean since Oct. 30th 2022 (the day of my stroke). Look for Porcupine Tree soon. Take care. Oh, btw we too have an autistic family member. It's amazing the genius they possess. 😁
@@B-Drags-Den it is! Suggest to check out other porcupine tree live song to dig with it! Way out of here is another great example (btw all the band is phenomenal)
@8:17 exactly! One of the fastest hands/rim hits ever!
I love it
