This song came up on a playlist one day and it took me by surprise several times. Since then Ive followed their discography, and they really are, to my ears, an amazing band.
Brilliant piece of music and PT performance as usual. They're in a class by themselves. And, Oh Sh*t Gavin!!!! Your chops scare me and make me laugh at the same time. I played well, but it was seemingly for not after hearing you first back in 2006. Ouch!! This song was written for the young who are physically and psychologically over-medicated by pill happy "Doctors" and live in Hell, not understanding how their minds are working against them and making them mental zombies literally. Similar to going cold turkey from Pain killer addiction. Been there after multiple cancer surgeries requiring huge doses of Vicodin and injected Super Morphine. They cut me off without telling me and the result was the scariest mind and body " F**k" you can imagine. It took two years of "sleeping" with the lights on, suicide thoughts aplenty. I did kick it with Sweet Linda's help. I saw the devil and slapped him.
I’m not a huge fan of progressive rock/metal for the most part, but Steven’s Wilson’s songwriting and arrangements are amazing at times. Good song to react to. I’m relatively new to the channel but just wanted to say I enjoy your reactions more than many of the other channels I come across. I can tell you are actually new to the songs as well as actually listening to them. If that makes sense Have a great day
Playlist! Yes! Steven Wilson also has a ton of solo music as well as Porcupine Tree stuff. I recommend checking out his solo song “The Holy Drinker” live, or the Porcupine Tree track “Hatesong” live from their Arriving Somewhere DVD.
Well, I can tell you that he's HIGHLY regarded In the artist community. A musicians musician, a producer par excellence. Tons, tons of people seek him out for Producing albums, direction, and ideas.. dudes the real deal. Some of the greatest bands and artist that have ever walked the planet have his fingerprints all over their work, some of their best work (subjective)
I am a vocalist but not a musician, so my perspective is from the layman, I like to listen to music perspective. I am certainly not judging talent. I don't get wrapped up in popularity. I suppose that is probably clear, as I am fine with people liking or not liking me. But this was a good introduction to them :)
This is with John Wesley on guitar, so cannot have been recorded in 2020. Wesley was a touring member from 2002 - 2010. Also, the band was inactive in 2020.
Hi Sarah! I’m very happy you reacted to Porcupine Tree. Great Prog-Metal band indeed. I’m hoping/asking if you would react to another prog-metal band called Fates Warning, their song, “The Light and Shade of Things.” The official video is them playing the song live. I’m just curious what your reaction would be!
Hey Sarah - love your very low-key approach to things - very different to many other reactors. Very pleased you took on the challenge of diving in to this classic track, it is no small challenge. If you are starting to get a feel and an attraction to all things quality prog, can I make just 2 key suggestions from scores and scores of possible options. From Steven Wilsons (the lead singer, song-writer and heart of PT) solo work, strap yourself in and react to Ancestral Live from his Home Invasion DVD show at the Royal Albert hall and then dive in to Porcupine Trees latest live DVD released in 2022 and the track Harridan. Both absolute prog masterpieces and both available on RUclips. Keep the Steven Wilson/Porcupine Tree coming - there is no shortage of pure class material there to chose from - especially LIVE!
a VERY good band; the closest thing to Pink Floyd and who are making new music... also, check out The Pineapple Thief - nowadays with the same awesome drummer, Gavin Harrison.
@@everysongsucks Oh, and I should have also told that the middle part of the song is called: "The Pills I'm Taking" which explains it even more.. Sorry about that. :D
@@everysongsucks i could suggest pineapple thief, a polish band riverside, and its leader solo named mariusz duda, as well as dream theatre if you have not already covered
Ahhh girl, quit pretending to be and sounding like my freshman Lit professor...what did you hear/see/imagine. Please look into Early 70's prog. Yes, Tull the stooges. Love your hair...keep listening

PT is one of the best bands of all time, and Steven Wilson is a genius. 🎼🎶🖤✨
I am so happy that I have had the privilege to hear this song performed live by Porcupine Tree..
Me too, several times
One of the greatest drum parts ever created...And obviously Gavin Harrison is one of the G.O.A.T.

Hatesong is excellence.
Never seen such a poker face in front of PT live performance.
I do have a great poker face, but never played poker :)

One of my all-time favorite songs.
I am paying attention to songs people recommend, saving them for a rainy day :)
I'll have to listen to this again.

Hello, Sarah from Canada. I love your approach only interjecting quickly. When needed I hope you love Porcupine Tree as much as I do thanks.
They got my attention when I first heard this song also…

I found PT a few years ago by searching for "bands like Pink Floyd". Another great band I found this way is Airbag (from Norway).

You might enjoy an Aussie band called Cog. Try their song No Other Way, or Doors.
