I remember seeing this band around 2006 at the Memphis skate park when I was just discovering emo/punk/rock music. They were playing in the middle of a half pipe with the crowd all around them, people jumping off the sides into the crowd. It was electric. I still love this song to this day.

First of off ur from Canada soooo… 😆 his voice is easily a 9 and always has been. Imo the guitars… would be a 9 but the capture thereof i always thought was poor for this album. At times just sounds noisy. I love how they got heavier as they got older and didnt go a soft introspective direction because thats dumb and ghey😆. Kinda refreshing you came off as an emotionlesslibrarian reviewing something heavy instead of a dozen facial expressions with every chord change. Best recorded album by them are arguably Low and Formation of Damnation imo

I can understand how someone might not like this song much if this is where they started. This album is meant to be listened to as a whole, not jumped into piecemeal. It builds, it flows, it has repeated themes. If you jump in in the middle on your first listen, you are missing all of the context. I mean, take all this with a gain of salt... I'm just some dude on the Internet after all... But I highly recommend giving the whole thing a shot from the beginning. Maybe you hate it, maybe you love it. But I bet you won't rate it a 5.

The note choices on the guitar solo is out of this world. Chills.

Repetetive's kind of a big thing for industrial music, it's certainly a part of the appeal for me if I'm in the right mood - it gets hypnotising for me at least.

I dont know if you have or havent yet but i really think you should listen to retrovertigo or the california album. The california album is much less clown-sounding and much more meaningful. The reason why i said retrovertigo is because it is my favorite song from him and one of my top 10 favorite songs of all time; it takes this long ballad buildup with moments of an ominous feeling with a great peak towards the end. The song has really meaningful and relatable (to me at-least) sentimental feeling. You still may not like it because it has the mr bungle feel at times BUT it is an absolutely legendary song that is soo underrated. If you pay attention to the lyrics, there are so many hidden meanings (really in all of the songs in the california album have many many many hidden meanings in the lyrics) that really allow that passage of images from words to pop in your head. It really is just a sharp curve from the usual mr bungle in an amazing way. In my opinion it’s a 10/10 song i would really like to hear your (and others) opinions on the song.

The chorus sounds so happy and a little cute but the lyrics are so glum. They've made better songs. Most of their music is about being immersed in fiction and fantasy.

I was pleasantly surprised by this reaction. I honestly expected you to trash this song. I've been a part of the emo/scene community since around 2008 and we always seem to get the most hate. When this video was released around 2010, it was trendy to crap all over bands like this. It still kinda is these days. It's nice to see an honest, fair, and well-thought-out critique of this song. Oh, and you didn't go on a 10-minute rant about how "gay" "lame" and "dorky" they are, so that's nice. Metal elitists are pure cancer. They are the Westboro Baptist Church of metal and need to disappear, but that's another conversation. Anyway, thanks for not being an asshat.
