    Is your riding lawn mower not starting? Lawn tractor cranks but won't start? In this video we are going into level 2 of getting a riding mower to start after it has been sitting. In the first video we showed you a couple of quick tricks to get it started and in this video we will do a more in depth repair of removing the fuel solenoid to see if it is seized up and how to clean it. This is still a beginner level repair that only requires a few tools. We are working on a Toro Timecutter Zero Turn mower with a Kohler Courage engine. This procedure of cleaning the fuel silenoid will hopefully get your lawn mower running and prevent you from having to buy a new part as soon, saving you money!

    I've got a John Deere E110, same type of fuel solenoid. Was mowing the other day, and the tractor just quit on me after I was about 90% of the way done with the yard. Couldn't figure out what was going on as I was getting spark, air and fuel was coming out of the fuel pump and going towards the carb. Just happened to notice the following day when the sun was out that the wiring clip going into the solenoid, the black plastic surrounding that connection was melted. Apparently it overheated, caused a short... or vice versa. Motor will start if I squirt fuel down the intake pipe but quit after a second or so because solenoid is obviously dead and not allowing fuel to be pulled into the carb.
    I took it off using your video, determined I needed to order a new one, waiting for it now. Had no idea how this thing came off until I watched your video, so thank you.

    Thank you! That fixed it for me. The solenoid pin had a bunch of gunk on it which made it stick. After replacing the solenoid, I turned the key and mower fired right up. However, I found out the hard way that there was gas all over the floor when I stopped the engine. During removal, the solenoid was wrenched on super tight by the manufacturer. When I loosened it, the thread showed shavings of metal and now it's too loose to tighten. The thread seems damaged on the carburetor side. You think I have to replace the entire carburetor now?

    Question....... I have a 2018 model of a t 1 30 42 inch cut Craftsman made by mtd. The customer pulled off the 2 wires that go into that translucent wiring harness that plugs into the bottom of the fuel solinoid cut off switch. What is the orientation for those 2 wires, black & white are the 2 colors. Where the harness slides up into the bottom of the solo eigit's total annoyed it has it's keyed that 1 is circular and one is angular which wire goes on what side?

  • @PaulBailey3
    @PaulBailey3 Год назад

    Sometimes the solenoid just goes bad and won't retract. I've seen that you can just remove the rubber stopper or cut it off after the threads to resolve it without buying any parts. They did mention adding a manual shutoff if you did this.

    • @Jason-un9ps
      @Jason-un9ps Год назад +1

      The threaded part on the solenoid is what holds the float bowl onto the carb... Once that's off it's going to start draining your gas tank.. You can either take the gas line off the carb and place it higher than the bottom of the tank, or just drain it into a gas can
