I see a specialist (dermatologist) for my hair loss. The doc writes me a prescription for the liquid solution and I just go to a special compounding pharmacy to fill it. I live in Vancouver Canada. 30 mls for $50. Last me about 2.5 months. I have had amazing results. I tried the foam and I hated it. It’s so hard to apply for women with longer hair. The liquid solution I get comes with a tiny little dropper and I can do my whole head in three mins.
My doctor has instructed me to use rogaine/minoxidil twice per day. I use the men's 5% foam in the AM and the men's 5% liquid in the PM (my personal preference to do it this way). The liquid takes my hair forever to dry which is mainly why I prefer to use the foam in the morning. The foam also works as a styling aid, at least for my hair makes it "appear" somewhat thicker. The liquid allows me to really concentrate on my scalp and I love that it's kind of pre-measured for you. The foam is still a guessing game for me as far to whether or not i'm using the right amount. I can't wait to see/hear more on your thoughts about rogaine/minoxidil and your personal preferences.
Hi Anna! I like the foam too, it's sorta like styling mousse! I have been sticking to AM application only, but I hear you--I like the premeasuring of the liquid. Do you find it oily? Or maybe it's Target's brand? I don't know! Oh, and someone on Reddit told me that there is a minoxidil spray...I didn't know that, did you? Maybe next time I'll pick some up. But you're right, I never thought about the premeasured aspect of the spray, either! You always give me something to think about too! Haha! Thanks so much, I love hearing from you! Wishing you lotsa hair! xoxo
I do find the liquid a bit oily. I'm using the Kirkland brand for now so I don't think it's just the Target brand. I have heard about the spray but I have yet to find it. Maybe it's by prescription only?? Not completely sure. Thank you for your positive thoughts. Keep those videos coming!! I always get inspired by your thoughts and views. 💓
@@HelenAvery I've read the liquid can make hair appear oily. I think I'm going to use it over the foam though because it is easier to get to the scalp. I'm going to start in a couple days for the first time so see how it goes. I got Walmarts generic liquid by Equate. It looks similar to Targets.
dani Kro good luck and keep us updated! Yes definitely I’m noticing the liquid is oilier than the foam....but price wise the difference is huge! I’m still switching it up and finding that is working well. My hair and scalp are pretty dry so I think it’s a good combo (the foam is not oily at all IMO) 😊
I use the Men's Minoxidil 5% liquid (Kirkland brand ordered from Amazon). The directions enclosed in the box say not to rub in with fingers so that the full amount saturates the scalp. Also, after just 6 weeks of use, I have been growing unwanted facial hair! I know it's not from transfer drips b/c some of the hairs are on my cheeks, forehead & chin...ugh! After some research I read that this can happen to a small percentage of women. Fabulous! I'm going to continue using it because I am already growing some baby hairs, but to just 1X per day.
I just came across your channel today as I was searching information about Rogaine due to my hair loss. I noticed that you are using the Men ones. I thought we have to use the women one. And do you have any opinion about using the 2% versus 5%. I would appreciate your feedback.
The liquid made my hair look greasy but that said I think it's great if you want to apply it at bedtime. I'm on my third bottle of the 5 percent foam once a day. I may purchase the liquid again since it's such a savings and just put it on before bed since I wash my hair every morning. I actually like the foam because if I want to apply it in the morning my hair looks fine and I think it may even add a little body similar to a light mousse. Can't wait to see more of your Rogaine videos!
I started the liquid yesterday (just because my pharmacy didn't have the foam). My hair loss is all over though. To cover all areas would take far more than the recommended dose, so I concentrated on the worst area at the front. Wondering if the foam would be better for my type of hair loss? I'm feeling pretty desperate Helen. Hair loss definitely getting worse and I feel as though I'm going to end up not wanting to leave the house or face people. So appreciate your content, your kindness and your positivity. This would all be so much harder without you.
I truly hope you find a solution to the all-over hair loss predicament. Even though I just have thinning at my temples and I am using Rogaine foam religiously to see if it works, I'm glad I have a backup plan. I discovered wigs during the beginning of CoVid when I couldn't get in to see the hairstylist and LOVE them. I've accumulated some beautiful synthetic, high-end styles that are so realistic and comfortable. I was shocked at the quality and realism. I belong to several FB groups of women (and men) who have been through the same frustration and are now having a blast with alternative hair. If my hair fills back in, I'll still wear my pretty wigs when I don't feel looking at my very ordinary brown/gray hair. Blessings on your journey.
Gets worse before it gets better. Weak hair falls out, then after a normal resting phase in the hair cycle, new growth will appear. Can take a few months. Ask your dermatologist for a DHT blocker. Finasteride is the the usual one, but is not suitable for women of child bearing age due to unknown possible birth defects, I believe. Finasteride is prescription only. Keep on with it. Hair growth is a cycle. It takes time. New growth might be weak looking. I understand that also drops out then thicker growth comes. Stay positive, good luck.
I highly doubt you’ll react negatively to the liquid form. If anything it’ll be better as the liquid form will be applied more concentrated Ly onto the scalp vs foam. Foam is aerated and majority of the content gets absorbed and distributed along the hair shaft vs scalp directly

Is there also Rogain in a spray?? I got curly hair so its very difficult to bring it in each day and my hair is not falling out at one spot but it's spread around my head.. (Sorry for my english i'm from the Netherlands) 😘
I am a pharmacist in the United States. Rogaine is Rogaine. For both men and women the foam is 5% minoxidil. There is no difference between the products other than the labeling states men should apply twice a day and women once. It isn't a safety issue for women to use it twice a day but several studies have shown there isn't much added benefit. The men and women's liquid Rogaine differ in two ways. The women's liquid is 2% minoxidil and the men's liquid is 5% minoxidil (like the foam). The men's liquid however contains an ingredient called propylene glycol that actually helps the medication absorb better. The men's liquid is the only formulation that contains propylene glycol. The foams do not contain it and neither does the women's liquid. Even though the packaging states women can't use the men's Rogaine this is only because of how the different formulations were studied. Off-label women use men's Rogaine all the time without an issue. Personally, I use the men's 5% liquid. Typically I only use it once a day (because I am always running late in the morning) but I will periodically use it twice a day. Some women online have stated the men's liquid caused facial hair growth but this particular side effect seems linked to the liquid running down the face during application and not being washed off properly. Also, if you apply it at night and go to bed before it is dry it can get on your pillow and then on your face. I always give it 2 hours to dry at night before I go to bed. Since the men's 5% liquid does absorb better it can cause more irritation but unless you have a very sensitive scalp using it once a day shouldn't cause much issue. Overall, the men's liquid is the most effective for both men and women. I will say it is getting harder to find in some areas currently because dermatologists are recommending it for covid related hair loss.
@@shardaycota9164 if you're getting flakes after liquid rogaine it's because of atopic dermatitis, which is essentially an eczema like allergic reaction to an ingredient (most likely propylene glycol)

@@HelenAvery why does it do that? The flakes. Do u think its buildup of product?
@@HelenAvery thank u for ur reply ❤
Sharday Cota Hmmm! I don’t know! Could be product or it’s drying out your scalp...or both! Just my guess.
Is there also Rogain in a spray??
I got curly hair so its very difficult to bring it in each day and my hair is not falling out at one spot but it's spread around my head..
(Sorry for my english i'm from the Netherlands)

Is it safety if female using male's rogaine?
The moose didn't cause flakes but I still had shedding
Interesting! Thanks for letting us know!
Day Trip!
Fun!
The liquid completely stopped my hair shedding but it caused flakes
Glad your shedding stopped, that's great! Flakes suck though. Any luck with more frequent washing?
@@HelenAvery I'll give it a try
@@shardaycota9164 if you're getting flakes after liquid rogaine it's because of atopic dermatitis, which is essentially an eczema like allergic reaction to an ingredient (most likely propylene glycol)
@@Alana.Bahama I believe it was product buildup.😁
U can use any ketoconazole shampoo for tht...it really works!!
Buffalo rocks, like Cleveland.
It does!
I'm afraid I might make me gain weight
I can only speak from my own experience but that didn't happen to me, and seems relatively rare. Good luck either way!
It won't at all.
