    Thank you for this video. You inspired me to start minoxidil. Here is my experience. I did not get initial shedding. I did have body swelling for the first month which went away when my body got used to it. The doc said I should start seeing results after 4-7 months. I got results after the 3rd month. I’m on 5mg minoxidil, which is making all my hair grow. So I bought an at home IPL machine, which is working. I haven’t had to clean my brush or drain my shower for the last 2 months. I’m not shedding at all. Not in the shower or brushing after washing.. it’s crazy and I’m so surprised. I have psoriasis on my scalp, but I found a simple remedy for it. The minoxidil hasn’t affected it at all.

    I'd like to warn you about my experience with oral minoxidil. I had been using it for about 3years and really helped, until one day I became quite ill. I felt like my body as a whole was swelling. My heart rate was through the roof and had severe heartburn, also blinding headaches. I went to A&E 3 times and no one knew what was wrong or couldn't find anything wrong. It turned out that later, through my own investigation, it was the minoxidil pills. My body was finally having a very bad reaction to them. So please be careful with these.

      @@JahlenJohnson11 yes. I haven't taken them since, and now only use topical minoxidil. I use the foam as it's better for those with sensitive skin. The pills were amazing until then. Since no one could figure it out, until I finally figured it out, I was practically a whole month feeling like absolute s***. I personally would never try and use them again. It really messed up my system for a long time. It caused serious anxiety as I was terrified to go to sleep and be woken up with all the issues it was causing me. So personally, if your body rejects them, I'd just try with topical minoxidil instead. It's a pain in the ass, but I'd rather sticky hair than what I suffered with.

    Thank you so much for sharing your experience with oral minoxidil, I just have started taking it, 2.5mg per day plus topycal minoxidil 5% so I just have to wait how things go with that. However, my hair lost expierience is a bit longer than yours. I started lossing my hair when I was 19 and I'm now 34 so, I started with minoxidil 5% since then and diane 35 and it worked really good, in 2019 I was prescribed espironolactone 100mg just because Even though my hair was ok I wanted a bit of tickness so I when to see my dermatologist and she sugested to carry on with topycal minoxidil 5% , the anticonceptive pill diane 35 and espironolactone 100mg And in a year I barely see a difference so I stopped. And because I made a research about oral minoxidil I asked my dermatologist for it and she agreed, So I'm taking it now and waiting the best. Good luck with this! I'm from Colombia so, English is my second language and I hope I didn't make a lot of grammatical mistakes and your followers and you can be able to understand me. And by the way, it's a long term jorney, if you stop taking the pill or using topycal minoxidil all the hair that grew it's gonna fall down if you have androgenetic alopecia.

    • @Fluffyduff
      @Fluffyduff  3 года назад +1

      You typed it out great, don’t worry! It’s impressive that you can write another language. You’ve definitely been on a very long hair journey, and it’s good to hear that you’ve had results! If the oral minoxidil helps will you stop the topical minoxidil then or continue with both together? Yes sadly minoxidil has to be used consistently, but at the minute it’s a very easy product for me to use consistently and I’m having great results, so I’m not too worried about stopping, I’ll continue to work closely with a doctor to monitor any changes that happen to me. Thanks for watching the video and leaving your wonderful comment! I always love to hear people’s experiences with minoxidil and their hair journey, I think it’s so helpful for others to see. 🥰

In regards to side effects, you just have to work closely with a doctor to help prevent them, if you notice side effects, you must consult your doctor and change the medication (eg switch from oral to topical) or change the dosage (a smaller/ larger dosage) and then monitor your results after changing the medication. Everyone’s bodies react differently to medication so there’s no concrete advice I can give you except, monitor your body and consult your doctor, that’s all I’ve done. I hope that helps!

    • @Fluffyduff
      @Fluffyduff  2 года назад

      I really think you should see a dermatologist so that they can diagnose your hair loss formally. If you're worried about male pattern hair loss - you can start minoxidil and also take a DHT blocker such as Finasteride or Dutasteride. Please note you have to be consistent with use to see results. Give the medication a minimum of 6 months before you decide if it's working or not. I hope that helps

      I'm sorry to hear that, I know it can be very stressful. I would recommend seeing a doctor first to rule out any deficiencies before taking minoxidil. It's better to fix what you can before resorting to minoxidil as it has to be taken for life. Make sure you see an actual hair specialist, rather than a GP as they will not be as well versed in hair loss.

      @@justmorenoise It’s so wild you sent this now because the other day (literally yesterday or the day before) I finally decided to take photos of my hair and compare them to my hair before (or right around beginning) treatment…
      So yes, 6 month update!:
      My hair has definitely improved. I will be honest when I say I have issues keeping up with daily rhythms so sometimes I have some off days where I’m not consistent. That being said, I am still so happy with where I am.
      My hair started to thin and I didn’t even notice. A family member (around 2020) told me that the part in my hair was really widening… I never noticed until she mentioned it, and it sent me into this obsession and insecurity over my hair (which I still have to this day). Following that moment, my hair worsened and was so thin and weak that a day after washing my hair, my hair was so greasy that it looked like it hadn’t been washed in a week. If I wore hats or had my hood up, my hair would flatten down and would become greasier as well, and I could not save its volume after that until washing.
      NOW, my hair is so much better in terms of greasiness after showering. My part is becoming more narrow and even my bangs look fuller (which they previously did not). My hair doesn’t flatten as easily and has MUCH more volume. Like I said, not perfect, but I am so thankful it is better, and a lot of close family and friends recognize this. My one issue now is that when my hair is wet after showers or the pool, rain, etc.. You can still really see my scalp. When I look at the top of my head (where the follicles begin to grow at the forehead and up) you can still see my scalp as well, but it’s less prominent. But I think once I am very steady with the rogaine it will get even better. I also take spironolactone for this as well. I also switched to an all natural shampoo which makes my hair very soft, it has no harsh chemicals and I think that combined with being heat-free on my hair will help it strengthen and prevent damage. I’m not sure I will ever achieve what I used to have, I used to have incredibly thick hair and I really took it for granted and I miss it dearly. I try to understand that I may not ever have that again, but I am thankful I am not at the lowest point of my hair anymore. Thanks for asking!:)

    I was curious about this because I wanted to accelerate my hair thickening but upon reading up on this it seems to actually cause more hair loss when stopped after long time use.
    I just use a personal hair growth recipe that I've been improving over the years. My hair is thicker but the progress was very slow but I also lost a lot of hair.
    3 years later my hair is not shedding as much and this is with stopping for a whole year.
    I think natural remedies work best but are more expensive and time consuming but the results last.
    I use bentonite clay as my bonding ingredient with various herbs and essential oils.
    I'd suggest it to anyone who want to try something natural. I also changed my diet and take hormone balancing supplements.
    For the essential oil materials grow as many plants on your own and produce them at home to safe money in the long run.
    Rosemary plants are super inexpensive so just buy one and harvest the plant to make oil (which take a month to process without a UV lamp), lavender plants are also inexpensive.
    I know this is a lot to deal with so I hope my information can help and I hope we can all feel happy with our hair health.

      @@anshikaanshika464 It depends what type of hair loss you have. If it is temporary (TE) then you can stop, but if it is female pattern hair loss, the hair will fall out again.

      It cannot 100% be attributed to minoxidil as I was also taking iron and zinc too. I believe fixing my iron along with the minoxidil has helped my hair flourish.

    I just love your videos so much❤😍 jst a qck qstn..Did minoxidil decrease the shedding which u were having becz of ur dengue fvr? I'm on minoxidil also , and its been 20days and minox shedding is so depressing 🙃.. I just want to know that if i continue with minox will my hair shedding stop? Do minox helps in reducing the hairfall?

    • @Fluffyduff
      @Fluffyduff  3 года назад +1

      Awh that’s so sweet, thank you for the kind words, glad you enjoy the videos! I began minoxidil before my dengue fever shedding began. I believe that’s why my hair shed very intensely, because all the dengue hair loss came out over a period of 6 weeks rather than 3-6 months, due to the minoxidil kicking out all the dead hairs and stimulating the new ones. As far as I’m aware, shedding is supposed to be a sign that the minoxidil is working (pushing out dead hairs and growing healthier ones). However, some people (R/femalehairloss) have shed using minoxidil and not gained hair growth. I guess it’s a case of being patient and seeing what happens. Do make sure you check to see if you have any underlying issues that are causing your hair loss (such as deficiencies) it’s probably a lot easier to treat a deficiency than to use minoxidil forever. ❤️

      @@Fluffyduff thnkyou so much for replying❤ .. Yes I'm an iron deficient, and I'm on my iron pills and multivitamins.. But as i lost so much hair so my dermatologist told me that i can give minoxidil a try, i gave it and i don't have any prblm using it for lifetime but the one thing which i want the most is the hairfall to stop or at least reduce a little bit😊 .. Bcz its been 9mnths I'm suffering from hairloss.. And also has ur hairfall stopped? Lyk has it decreased a little bit?

      @@BengaliKudi11 I'm not sure how long you've been taking the iron tablets for, but it could be that you have telogen effluvium due to your iron deficiency, and once your iron comes up to a stable level, the hair fall will stop. Which means you may not need to take minoxidil long term, however it's still something you can try. I'd try fix any deficiencies you have before comitting to minoxidil for the rest of your life. Yes, my hair fall has been less since using minoxidil, but I still lose around 200 hairs a day, it's not perfect, but it's a lot better than before. I really hope that helps!
