Glen Affric Wild Camp: 3 Munros

  • After parking at The River Affric car park I walked the 8.5 miles into Alltbeithe Youth Hostel to set up camp. The following day my plan was to climb the 3 remote Munros starting from behind the hostel.
    The Sgùrr nan Ceathreamhnan group is a tough round of Munros in a remote area with Mullach na Dheiragain being prized for its inaccessibility.
    I had a fantastic but exhausting day and an invite into the hostel to cook my meal and relax was most welcome.
    My videos are not intended to be an exact guide to any hill, mountain or low level walk featured in the video. I don’t cover every aspect of the route, terrain or difficulties.
    Please refer to walkhighlands.co.uk or the book by the SMC, The Munros - Hillwalking Guide, for detailed walk descriptions.
    Stay safe out there and enjoy! 😊

Never has a youth hostel been so inviting. Some nice young Germans made us pancakes in exchange for toothpaste. Thanks for all your posts

    We cycled in to do your 1st & 3rd hills, we were taking a leisurely late lunch above the bothy when it dawned on me how far behind schedule we were. We may miss the evening bar meal in the pub. We pursuaded the slowest group member to go back. This allowed a faster pace becoming a dash for the bikes & sprint back. Sorting the highered bikes we lost a bolt, luckily finally got a mobile signal, rang the pub. They took our slightly late order, so arrived in the bar for, beer & food, perfect. Returned to the car park the next day & found the bolt. Thanks for bringig back the memories and showing the brilliance of Affric.

    • @LindaOutdoors
      @LindaOutdoors  2 года назад

      Oh my goodness, that sounds like a tight schedule! Glad you found the bolt too and made dinner. I had a similar situation after coming off Slioch. Dinner was booked but we were in a rush to get back along the track at the loch, took forever with tired legs. Managed a 3 min shower at the youth hostel & went to the Torridon Hotel with wet hair but made dinner. 👍

    Fair enjoyed watching this on a driech and horrible December afternoon Linda. I was hoping you would have shown the way off the ridge to get over to Mullach na Dheiragain as I couldn't find an obvious way across when I attempted these some years ago. Ended up missing it out as we were staying at Carn Ban bothy and that's an extra 3 miles each way from your tent. Eventually did MnD from Iron Lodge. Cheers.
