Hi Dave & Lisa. WOW, thank you so much for sharing this adventure with us. That brought back so many memories from a couple of years back. We rented a holiday cottage in Cannich, shopped in the Spar, and had our tea every night next door in the Slater's Arms. It's also where we did our first two Munro's, Tom a' Choinich and Toll Creagach and we walked the full circular of Loch Affric on another day. Brilliant stuff. All the best Dave
What an adventure, and a great watch for us. The scenes of you both cycling with and past the camera were worth your extra mileage. Your happiness together makes the video.
Hi both, super trip and film! We know the path well that joins the Cape Wrath Trail. Looks tougher on a bike than walking! Take care out ther. Mick & Rose.👍😊🙋♂️
Hey Mick, that you for your kind message. 😊🙏 It’s a trail of two halves that’s for sure. Some of the second half is quite tough to ride with kit etc. I’d certainly prefer to bike the first half though. 😁👍
Drone footage second to none as usual. That scenery just got better & better till Middle Earth was reached. Even your jackets matched the Autumnal look of the hillsides. Hope you's enjoyed your well-earned pizzas. Brilliant video again guys, loved it.
Hey Michael, Much appreciated! Yeah autumn 🍂 was gently appearing. The drone footage came out better than expected given the light and weather. We just made it for pizza and it was awesome. Much needed. 😁 🍕
Great video thanks. Sadly my friend who lived in Fort William died several years ago so I haven't been up there since. Time I got back there with my bike I think.
Many thanks for sharing your trip, filming and views were fantastic, yet another wee bit of Scotland which brings back lots of memories for me. Thanks again All the best and stay young
Morning John, We’re doing our best to stay young. It’s not easy now though! Lol 😂 Lovely to hear that our wee video is being back nice memories. Atb.. 😁👍
Probably your best vid yet!!! What a place and a place I must do 🙌 love your videos guys and look forward to the next ….. brilliant couple and brilliant team 🙏
What a stunning and beautifully shot video. Thoroughly enjoyed the watch. Second half looked pretty rugged but so very beautiful being amongst the hills 😊
Definitely a ride of two halves eh? I've pondered the Loch Beinn a'Mheadhoin viewpoint as a bivvy spot. We were swimming in the loch just below there at the weekend just gone. Next time you're near Aviemore, shout me up and I'll treat you to a beer/coffee etc. as a thanks for the videos.
Hey Linda, There was quite a bit of pushing. I was running in empty just before we arrived at the bothy. That break, and food, reenergised us both but, yes, it was quite tough. I’m particularly proud of the drone footage, it’s come out way better than I’d thought. Thank you for messaging! 😁🙏
Well done to you both, what great camera work👍. I only done half what you did but twice... Cycled in from Clunnie in and then down to Morvich.... The second time I did it I went round from Morvich and clockwise round Bein Fada, it was very remote on the far side espessially with a bike and on your own and the cobbles on the last bit are good on a mtb 😜👍
Great video, I spent many years in Kintail mountain rescue and done the Highland Cross many times so I know that area very well. Great to see the drone photage too.
Awesome adventure. Very inspiring. Glen Affric is definitely on my bucket list. My ancestors, the Clan MacLennan are from the Kintail region. I can't wait to go back for a visit and to ride.
Thank you for a beautiful film! It brought back some great memories from when I walked the Affric Kintail Way back in late October 2021 (from Cannich, we had skipped the first stage because we had heard some boring stuff about it ^^ good to know there is now a way to avoid the road section!) Such a beautiful area, and it was amazing to get a bird's eye view thanks to your gorgeous drone footage! I hope you got your pizza! My dream for the end was a hot chocolate, and the disappointment was bitter when we found out that the Kintail Lodge was closed for the season 😅 (and now I always carry some instant hot chocolate powder, that moment must have scarred me 😂)
Hiya Julie 👋 Firstly, we made it in time for pizza 🍕(just) and it was probably one of the best ever lol 😂 It must have been painful not getting your hot chocolate 🍫… If the Kintail Pitstop was closed, I’d have cried!! 😁 There was quite a bit of pushing but I think the route is better now than when you done it. What a fantastic journey across the country. The scenery above Glen Lichd was awesome, it’s also useful to know you can cycle up Glen Affric to the hostel at Altbeithe, as that is what I hope to do to climb the Corbett Sgurr Gaorsaic. Thanks for sharing.

I had it in my mind I need the winter to build up the muscles again after cycling in my youth before I attempt something like that, but parts of it I would enjoy at this level of fitness but looking at a red warning for rain today. I think I will watch your adventures on the pc. I liked and subscribed.
Absolutely gorgeous film of the A2K guys. My bro and I walked it this summer and your vid brought back memories of the beautiful scenery and sore feet 😆 Cheers 👌🏻
Brilliant video. I was intending to do it in the opposite direction, (simply because I live near Drumnadrochit, and I would finish 'at home'). Changed my mind now. Don't fancy climbing that single track bit near the massive waterfall. Many thanks.

Fabulous 😊 thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos and share them👏 😀 …from a fellow Fatbiker in the Highlands (..aren’t they just the best bikes? ) 😊
That was an awesome watch, thank you. There’s a massive effort involved in making these types of films, so you deserve loads of kudos for that - the distance you both go beyond the camera before retrieval is impressive and likely adds miles onto your trip! I’m thinking of tackling this route on a gravel bike and can see there will be plenty of hike-a-bike phases during the latter stages of the trail. I also like your start/end-point logistics’ arrangements. Looking forward to checking out your other films. Subscribed 👍
Hi Twisty, thank you for your kind words and for recognising the effort involved. 🙏 Certainly the first half will be good on the gravel but as you’ve mentioned, second half will be a challenge. Worth the effort though. Hope you get good conditions. 😀🤞
reminds me of my trip across cairngorms in May. Great start from Aviemore and end into Braemar but the half between, no path or road...nightmare with a bike. no riding for 8 miles in wet, cold steep stretches. Think carefully before heading out
Well done done Dave and Lisa 👍, another cracking adventure. The drone footage really shows off the autumn colours and the views at 18:30 and 30:08 are sublime ❤Glad the weather improved for you and you/we got to enjoy the stunning scenery. Doing it by bike is definitely the way to go, not sure I would enjoy walking on all those forest and stone tracks. Bet you enjoyed your pizzas! 😋😋ATB, Ian
Hi Ian, the drone footage worked out really well. It’s always nice when you open the file at home to find that you’ve nailed it! 😂🙏😊 The pizza was ACE! 👍😁🍕
I walked this a few months back, hats off to you, some of cobbles and rocky sections were tough to walk on let alone cycle on! Great footage of the waterfall too 👍
what a great vid!! ...secondly always great to see fellow fatty riders! ..i have a fatty & have just started doing bikepacking (i was more of a xc / DH & trail center rider on my fatty!) ive just comepled the Traws Eryri (machynlleth to conwy) in wales which goes through the Snowdon range, if ever your down that way, i highly recommend it!!) ..im now planning a bikepacking trip to Scotland, im planning to merge Wild Argyll & Tour De Ben Nevis on the same trip :) ...i will be doing it all solo \o/
Hey Tiz.. I’ll take a look into that Snowdon route, we need to spread our wings a little. That Scottish route sounds epic. Google the Badger Divide and the Carousel (Cairngorms national park) two that we 2/3 routes we need to get done. 😁👍😊👍
I ❤ Scotland for sure. Looking at some of those burn crossings and steep narrow trails, I wonder sometimes how they survive severe winter storms with heavy rain and snow melt threatening to wash some of them out. Thanks for posting, I really enjoyed the fresh air generated by your video and feel all the better for it.
Hi Pete, Loved the comment “fresh air generated by your video” 😊🙏 Thank you.. lovely to read!! The landscape is certainly a handy place.. wouldn’t fancy crossing by the waterfall in winter with frozen surfaces etc!
Great to see you back out again, and on your bikes! And what a route choice 👍, I'm trying to put together a circular to link each end of the AKW so I can do it on my gravel bike as an overnighter (don't want to carry luggage on my full-suss mtb, and there'll inevitably be tarmac on the return route) I'll watch again your video to check the AKW ground conditions for suitability to my 50mm gravel tyres, I seem to remember that soon after the west end of Loch Affric, heading west, the track becomes more rough? Thanks again for this great video and excellent footage 🚴♂️👍
Hi Tony, Yeah very rough. The second half of the route will definitely test a gravel bike, not that I know much about gravel bikes. Will be easier to carry your bike than it would be ours mind you. Thank you for watching our wee video. 😁🙏
@@ontheadventuretrails-scotl9389 thanks Dave 👍 My gravel bike will be fine, but I think it's my patience that's more likely to be tested 😰😁 I'm actually ok with hike-a-bike sections with that kind of scenery anyway ! I've watched all of your videos, they're great quality with great content 👌🏕🚵♂️
You two are showcasing what Scotland offers to stunning effect. Outside Scandinavia there's little freedom like it. One thing though; why do some Scottish RUclipsrs (I live vicariously too much 🤔) avoid the traditional ch sound? Cannick? I had to look it up.
I love the feel and vibe of your video. It was an excellent mood. What a wonderful trail! I would love to ride it one day. I'm interested in your fat bikes. My bikepacking bike is a fat bike too. Can you please tell us about your setup? Keep safe, keep well and keep on with your adventures.
Hi Bruce, thank you for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. 😁🙏 We’ll may do a video at some point about kit etc. those aren’t normally the kind of videos we do but never say bee! 😁👍
Hi Dave & Lisa, great video and very beautiful and inspirational! ..just wondering what bikes model you’re riding and which packing system? Was thinking Ortlieb but any advice welcome..Cheers & happy riding..😊🙌🏻💯
Hey, thanks for watching our wee adventure! 😁🙏 The bikepacking kit is Revelate Designs www.revelatedesigns.com/ There should be some info about the bikes in the video info. 😊👍
Hi, thank you for watching and messaging. I’m not sure but I found this, via a Google search, in Drumnadrochit www.lochnesstravel.com/product/e-bike-hire/ Your best bet would be hiring from Inverness though.
A lovely film, so tempted to go now, but probably on a full sus mtb. May I ask what drone do you use? brilliant footage and the music blends in really well.
Must be nice to actually have a bus stop at a bus stop in Europe. Some of the places I've been the bus drivers are in a hurry for their next cigarette break, or are behind schedule (from taking too long a previous cigarette break), and simply drive on by.
another class video , gave me the fear watching yous bump your way down towards Strawberry Cottage , we drove in cpl months ago when staying there and ripped all the underside of the van (well the watertank 🙈) ..scenery is something else , nice to see whats past the hostel 👌
Hi Bri, thank you! As you say, the scenery really is something else! Incredible! I’m not sure I’ll be talking Hamish (campervan) along that route. Lol 😂 😁🙏
Have been waiting for this one since friends posted a video of you leaving their house in Drum - it didn’t disappoint. You capture your journey through beautiful Glen Affric superbly. Great to see our club (ATMC) hut Strawberry Cottage in the sunshine 👍 Thanks for sharing- it must be some extra effort!!!
Fantastic video. Id planned on doing this ride this year. Real life cocked that up. What pannier rack & bags are your Mrs using on her fatty ? I need a set for my Commando.
Hi Greg, thank you, glad you enjoyed it. Crap when life gets in the way of the important stuff eh! 😁👍 The bags are Revelate Designs www.revelatedesigns.com/ The rack is Topeak, not sure of the exact name.
Hi Neil, Thank you very much for watching and your message. I think there last details if the kit in the description. We try not to let the filming get in the way of the adventure so we keep the kit to the basics. 😁👍
Hello Dave and Lisa. I have just discovered your channel and am really enjoying your videos, such fantastic scenery and lovely footage. I have a bit of a random question, which saddle is Lisa using on her fat bike? I have tried plenty of saddles over the years but I've never found anything comfortable over long distances. Many thanks.
Hi Michelle, Thank you for watching our videos. 😁🙏 We can’t actually remember what the brand is but I think it’s just a cheap one from Halfords. It’s not the most lightweight but well padded and Lisa never has an issue in terms of comfort. Sorry I can’t be more specific. L&D 😊🙏
Really enjoyed this video. Is there any particular reason you were pushing your bikes up the hills rather than just using the electric motor to take you up? Those are awesome-looking bikes by the way.
Hi Richard, Thank you! We’re definitely resigned to wet feet which happens more often than not, not always though. We use Salomon trail/hiking shoes which are Gortex (that’s fine until the water goes over the top!) we also use Sealskin socks. 😁👍
Do you recommend doing this on a fat tyre e-bike? I don't have a normal bike. It's about 30kg weight (without bags) and worried that it's a bit too heavy for the hike-a-bike sections. Not sure how heavy your bikes and bags were?
Hi Chris, I actually don’t know much about e-bikes and their limits. The second half is remote and quite hard going in places. Not sure what ours weigh. 👍
Hi guys just watched your video, I’m just taking up bikepacking and looking at this route. I would be going over from Aberdeen and leaving bike at drumnadrochit like use guys, would be camping overnight too. Can you pass on any tips or advice on public transport etc and what to watch for river crossing etc. any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Drew.
Hi Drew, thanks for your message. The route is pretty straightforward to be honest. The main area with an increased risk is the route down past the waterfall at the end. The rocks can be slippery when wet. No real issues in terms of water crossings etc. The place we left Hamish at was good, no issues. When you go for the bus you must stand at the roadside and flag it down when it appears or it’ll drive past. Take cash as a backup with you for the bus, the card machine wasn’t working. The driver let us in for free in the end! Have fun. Dave 👍😊

Great job guys. Shame you didn't cycle the track north of Loch Affric. You'd have enjoyed it (not)! I've cycled to Strawberry Cottage and walked to the youth hostel but never explored the Kintail end of this trail. I've had lunch at the place you camped on your first night. Good to have you back. Looking forward to more videos especially as it's been a wet old summer.

Fabulous 😊 thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos and share them👏 😀 …from a fellow Fatbiker in the Highlands (..aren’t they just the best bikes? ) 😊
Hi Alice, can’t beat a fatty! You are very welcome and thank you for your lovely message. 😁🙏
Think carefully before heading out
Yeah tough going at times. 👍
Been thinking of doing this trail. Thanks for the video its a great help.
Glad it was helpful! 👍😁
The pizza was ACE! 👍😁🍕
Great stuff D & L. Loved the video of fantastic area. 12/10 from me. Cheers
Haha thank you Alan. 😁🙏 So much to see on that route.
I walked this a few months back, hats off to you, some of cobbles and rocky sections were tough to walk on let alone cycle on! Great footage of the waterfall too 👍
Hi Rusty, There was quite a bit of pushing but worth the effort, in the end!! 😂 Thank you for messaging! 😁🙏
what a great vid!! ...secondly always great to see fellow fatty riders! ..i have a fatty & have just started doing bikepacking (i was more of a xc / DH & trail center rider on my fatty!) ive just comepled the Traws Eryri (machynlleth to conwy) in wales which goes through the Snowdon range, if ever your down that way, i highly recommend it!!) ..im now planning a bikepacking trip to Scotland, im planning to merge Wild Argyll & Tour De Ben Nevis on the same trip :) ...i will be doing it all solo \o/
Hey Tiz.. I’ll take a look into that Snowdon route, we need to spread our wings a little. That Scottish route sounds epic. Google the Badger Divide and the Carousel (Cairngorms national park) two that we 2/3 routes we need to get done. 😁👍😊👍
@@ontheadventuretrails-scotl9389 yeh I've looked into them, badger divide looks epic! :)
That was great, really enjoyed that :)
Glad you enjoyed it Brian. Thank you. 👍
Great to see you back out again, and on your bikes! And what a route choice 👍, I'm trying to put together a circular to link each end of the AKW so I can do it on my gravel bike as an overnighter (don't want to carry luggage on my full-suss mtb, and there'll inevitably be tarmac on the return route)
I'll watch again your video to check the AKW ground conditions for suitability to my 50mm gravel tyres, I seem to remember that soon after the west end of Loch Affric, heading west, the track becomes more rough?
Thanks again for this great video and excellent footage 🚴♂️👍
Hi Tony, Yeah very rough. The second half of the route will definitely test a gravel bike, not that I know much about gravel bikes. Will be easier to carry your bike than it would be ours mind you. Thank you for watching our wee video. 😁🙏
@@ontheadventuretrails-scotl9389 thanks Dave 👍
My gravel bike will be fine, but I think it's my patience that's more likely to be tested 😰😁
I'm actually ok with hike-a-bike sections with that kind of scenery anyway !
I've watched all of your videos, they're great quality with great content 👌🏕🚵♂️
Fantastic !
Good to see you both out and about again👍 It was great meeting you both in Uig, Isle of Lewis.
You too! Is this Kenneth from the beach? 😁🙏
Yes 👍
@@kennethsmith6889 it was lovely to meet you both also. Hope you got a good meal 🍽️ the following day! 😁👍🙏😂
@@ontheadventuretrails-scotl9389 thanks for your kind offer of a meal. We’ve now stocked up on tins and packets of food. Lessons learned. God bless. 😀
That looked epic guys and must of taken some editing.well done hope you have recoverd😂just started my cancer treatment prognosis looks cheers bothe ❤
Hi Paul, Yeah we had ooodles of footage to sift through. Keep pushing big lad. 😁💪💪
You two are showcasing what Scotland offers to stunning effect. Outside Scandinavia there's little freedom like it. One thing though; why do some Scottish RUclipsrs (I live vicariously too much 🤔) avoid the traditional ch sound? Cannick? I had to look it up.
Hi Brett, thank you for watching. Glad you enjoyed our wee film. 😁👍
Hi guys, wonderful video of a beautiful part of the world. Each time I see a video of yours I wonder what jackets you’re wearing. Please help 😊
Hi Mark, Thank you! 🙏
The jackets are the Endura MT500 Waterproof Jacket. They’ve worked well for us up to now. 😁👍
Amazing!! 👊💥🍻🍻🍻👍
Thank you. 😁👍
The bikepacking kit is Revelate Designs www.revelatedesigns.com/
There should be some info about the bikes in the video info. 😊👍
Great video! Thanks for sharing. So beautiful. Did you by chance notice any bicycle hire shops in the area?
Hi, thank you for watching and messaging. I’m not sure but I found this, via a Google search, in Drumnadrochit www.lochnesstravel.com/product/e-bike-hire/
Your best bet would be hiring from Inverness though.
Thanks for the info@@ontheadventuretrails-scotl9389
A lovely film, so tempted to go now, but probably on a full sus mtb. May I ask what drone do you use? brilliant footage and the music blends in really well.
Hi Andrew, thank you. 😁👍 I think there’s details in the information section of the video. Thank you for your message and for watching. 😁🙏
Lol 😂 😁🙏
@@ontheadventuretrails-scotl9389 yeah Sharon wasn't impressed haha
@@bri7530😂😂😂 I don’t blame her!
@@gcsScotland thank you very much for helping out at the beginning of the planning. 😁🙏
The bags are Revelate Designs www.revelatedesigns.com/
The rack is Topeak, not sure of the exact name.
So enjoyable to watch - great filming, thank you. Which drone and camera(s) do you use?
Hi Neil, Thank you very much for watching and your message. I think there last details if the kit in the description. We try not to let the filming get in the way of the adventure so we keep the kit to the basics. 😁👍
Hello Dave and Lisa. I have just discovered your channel and am really enjoying your videos, such fantastic scenery and lovely footage. I have a bit of a random question, which saddle is Lisa using on her fat bike? I have tried plenty of saddles over the years but I've never found anything comfortable over long distances. Many thanks.
Hi Michelle,
Thank you for watching our videos. 😁🙏
We can’t actually remember what the brand is but I think it’s just a cheap one from Halfords. It’s not the most lightweight but well padded and Lisa never has an issue in terms of comfort. Sorry I can’t be more specific.
L&D 😊🙏
Ok, i'll see what Halfords have to offer. Thanks very much for replying, enjoy your next adventure!
Really enjoyed this video. Is there any particular reason you were pushing your bikes up the hills rather than just using the electric motor to take you up? Those are awesome-looking bikes by the way.
Hi Gary, our bikes aren’t electric ⚡️… pure people power. Thank you very much for watching. 😁👍
Hi folks, somehow came across this, via RUclips.
Just wondering if you were recently at Hushinish on Harris and helped push start a guy in a VW T4??
Hahah 😂 Yip, that was us! Hiya Gary! You’ll be glad to know the T4 got all the way home! He messaged us here too. Small world! 😁👍
Glad to meet you. Like your videos, bring back lots of memories. Been bike packing round Scotland for 20yrs every Easter.
Glad to hear the T4 got back
great vid, I rode a version of this trail some 25 years ago its changed alot!! What make are the panniers and rack on the one bike? ta
Thanks David. 😁👍The panniers are Revelate Designs and the racks a Topeak rack, not sure if the model though.
Another great video 👍
Can I ask what pedal/shoe combo you use?
Thanks 😊
Hi Peter, thank you. 😁🙏 Normal flat pedals and Salomon trail/hiking shoes.
Thanks for the help 🙂
Hi, lovely video. What footwear do you use, is waterproof or are you just resigned to wet feet?
Hi Richard, Thank you! We’re definitely resigned to wet feet which happens more often than not, not always though. We use Salomon trail/hiking shoes which are Gortex (that’s fine until the water goes over the top!) we also use Sealskin socks. 😁👍
Great trip with nice shots 💚
Your music choise ist wunderful. Can you tell please, what's the song at 22:15?
Severe Clear by Tony Anderson.
👍😊
@McnSun thank you for watching. 😁🙏
😄thanx @@SJ-tk4ri
Thanks
Drew.
Have fun. Dave 👍😊
@@ontheadventuretrails-scotl9389 thanks Dave….I know you left bikes at Drumnadrochit was that at a garage, cafe or relation ?? Thanks

We done it in a day and a half but two days would have been better. 👍
@@ontheadventuretrails-scotl9389 thanks.
Can I ask what kind of rear rack youre using on the Kona Wozo?
Thanks for the help 🙂
Hi Peter, The rack make is Topeak. Not sure what the model is. 👍
@@ontheadventuretrails-scotl9389 that's great. They do a fatbike specific model, so it's probably that one. Thanks for the help 🙂
Hi Kevin, we’ve walked that track. Probably best kept for boots. 😁 The scenery on the second half of the route is fantastic and work exploring. 😁👍
I’m sure I’ll get around to it one day. 🤞
Hi there where can I order the rear bike rack setup your Mrs has on her fatbike?
Try Bothy Bikes in Kingussie. The make is Topeak.
Done it.
