3 years later and I still envy this stick. If I had one, I would want to get it converted to work on PS5 (obviously) and maybe it already works for it out the box.

vilestine Great observation 👍 tho i own this stick since day one, this is my 2nd one for my collection, check out my qanba drone video from a year ago, you can see the razer panthera sf5 in that video. And if you seen my other videos, it sometimes appear too. I used most of the sticks on the market, either from events or my friends has them, and i have been playing fighting game since year 2000, most of my life is spent in arcades and internet cafes. And sometimes my videos are not recorded in one day. There are a-lot of behind the scene and testing that doesn’t go on to the video. But i totally get what you mean tho. Thank you for pointing it out. But have you notice a lot of channels, you can see the person doesnt even have a clue how to hold or use a stick, and they clearly dont play fighting games, they just voice over mashing gameplay for 30 sec, and call it a day, as for me, you can see i am passionated about the equipment and quite good in most fighting game. You get to see my Live gameplays, notice i hardly do “voice overs” over footage, cuz thats too easy. Again, thank you, sometimes i feel the same way as you do when i watch certain videos too. 🙏🕹👍❤️

10:13 I got the original Panthera last year and it didn't come with a bat top. Contacted Razer and they said they could give it to me but I'd have to return the stick as they couldn't ship only the bat top. Decided not to send it back because I didn't want to wait even longer to continue using my stick. Can't find any Sanwa bat tops here lol but I'm still hoping. Great review, thank you!

@@JoystickNY Can do. I've already made a hitbox from a Hori RAP V. Bought a metal plate from Jasen's Customs with hitbox button layout meant to fit a RAP V. Swap existing plate for new plate. Install SOCD scrubber and buttons. Used fight sticks already have all the internals and system buttons. Cheap solution with great build quality.
You must really like the sf5 panthera to purchase the stick twice. I really like the stick, give it 9/10, -1 for no mod art. But the akuma ryu art is awsome, nice build. BTW i saw earlier video you had mini screen practicing sf5. what products was that? Great video
Johnny Nguyen thank you, Yes i tend to buy things again if they are a good deal, sometimes to collect. I really like the art work too, i usually like the arcade as is, i tend to not modify the art work or appearance of a controller. That monitor is a external DSLR monitor for my dslr camera, its not really meant to be used for consoles, i was trying to fit my tv in to the frame and i had a hard time, so i figure does this tiny monitor works, and it worked after i plug in the hdmi cable, and i used it for those video cuz it can show my big and the monitor in the frame ❤️🙏 i got it on amazon, mine is the andycine 160, but if you search dslr monitor, a bunch of them comes up. They are pretty much all the same but with different branding on it, and also, there is a slight input lag for gaming, so i don recommend it for gaming, and the battery only last about 1 hour or less

After all this time i would still like to get this stick but a pain in the ass to maintain just because of the cable. The only solution i have found that can make any 5 pin to USB A cable work for this is having to have the board connected to the female pin in the stick is changing the green and red wires and having to resolder it again 😅

Great video. A quick tip if I may. Grab yourself a lapel mic that plugs directly in to your camera. Your audio will improve massively. The BOYA BY-M1 mic is great at a very low cost 🙌

@@JoystickNY awesome just watched. Much better. The closer you can get the mic will always give cleaner sound. Lavalier (or lapel) mics are great because they are descrete and are just a few inches from your mouth.

Ok I bought a aftermarket replacement cable from china I ordered it July 11 and it came August 21 it took to long it is braided blue and less then half the length razer panthera sfv cable but it works current all button are mapped right I have USB extension cable so I'm good to go I can put away the original cable and not worry about damaging it
JoyStickNY at the moment I’m playing street fighter V. Thinking about getting the champion DLC but idk if it worth it I have season 1&2 dlc. Also have db fighterz thinking on getting those dlcs but idk haha
TheOzMan if you already got season 1 and 2, dont waste the money, u are better off challenge modes and story mode to unlock the character u want to play, chances are you are not going to main everyone of those characters , save the money
Thanks for the review. I choose this one over "Marvel vs Capcom Infinte" and "Dragon Ball FighterZ" edition. I my opinion "Street Figher V" edition Has the best artwork. Hope that will work with ps5 or atleast will be converter. For me was little bit more money due to import fees and also this is a special edition but I hope for my 1st arcade stick wont dissapoint me

Gabriel Colombo thank you so much for the and support 🙏❤️, unfortunately its not art work mod friendly, you can still change it, but you have to use a blow dryer to heat up the glue and peel off the whole plastic, its pretty much messy.
I'm thinking of buying the Panthera DBFZ edition, officially licenced for PS4 , so I'm wondering if it is working on the PS5, aswell as PC. Do you know if it does or not? i think its such a shame that it does not come with abattop anymore neither with the poanthera evo ,i would not have made it that much more pricey for them to add it .again people cutting cost on things that dont inpact value

Jay yea, i didnt understand the point of the evo, mainly becuz it was priced at 199. Reasonable price should to be around 119-149 max. Its a good stick, but i just didnt like the pricing. I guess thats why it was on sale for 110 all the time

Hey man, really enjoying your content so far. I was considering the DBFZ one. Were there any downsides to it? Or do they play the same. It's on sale for 190 AUD ( for 8 more hours) which is about 125 USD. I think value is great, I've also hesrd durability problems with Razer, but i can tell you love it!

Nice. I bought the Marvel vs Capcom Infinite version of the stick about a month ago on sale. How do you store the cable? I was putting mine back in the slot, but you recommended not to do that.
Jose A yea, if you play it everyday, you dont have detach it, you can just leave it in like if it were not detachable, and put the cable on top of the stick outside, if you are not going to use it for a while and you want to store it, then u can just leave it in the big compartment, basically under the buttons area
Well that sucks I was thinking of getting this as a "dream" stick when I have extra money but I found out it's too hard to change the artwork. You can do it on the evo version but that doesn't have the nice door I wanted and instead you need to unscrew from the bottom. I'm not comfortable having to use screws every time I open it to change something.
Have you noticed there is glue on and around the stick/restrictor plate under the Panthera? I recently got this same stick on Amazon. I really love it but wanted to change the 4 way plate to an 8 way. Noticed it has glue under there. I have never seen that before and not really sure what to do. Do you leave the stock 4 way plates in all your sticks that come with those? I can use the 4 ways fine myself, but the 8 way ones look to be even better. At least I want to give them a try and see.
Darkoasis1 glue on the screws are pretty normal, i have glue on a lot of my sticks, if thats what you mean. Definitely try the octagon gate and see which one you like better ❤️🙏
JoyStickNY I mean on the connector. If you open up your Panthera and the place where the joystick/gate is. There is a little white connector attached to it on the left side that all the wires are running into. It has glue over that white connector. If you go to Amazon and search Razer Panthera the SFV edition. Go down to comments there is one a guy talking about the glue on it. I would post picture of it if I could. Anyways to remove the white connector tab thingy I will have to somehow remove the glue. Is that normal? There are no screws around where I am talking about at least that I can see. Do I even have to remove that little white connector to change the gate to an 8 way? Hopefully not. Thanks for the reply🙂
Darkoasis1 that is normal too, they just added glue to make it a more secure connection, i have seen it in many of my sticks, sometimes the guy over do it with the glue lol 🤣
JoyStickNY Oh ok good lol. So do I have to remove that to change my gate? Or so I just simply swap out the gate via the tabs and can leave the connector as is? I hope I can jus leave the connector as is and won’t have to remove it and mess with the glue to change to the 8 way gate. I also ordered 8 white Sanwa OBSFS silent push buttons, 2 white OBSF 24mm Sanwa push buttons, and a white Sanwa balltop. Was thinking this stick would look great with all white buttons and balltop, and got the silent versions as well. Thanks so much for the answers.
Darkoasis1 you dont have to remove anything to change the gate, theres 4 plastic hooks that holds the gate, simply just use some pressure and its comes off, and snap the new one on 👍
Sujit Das feel free to ask me anything 😊 My favorite arcade stick for under 150 is the Hori Rap4 kai, (i will make a video on that soon) but it has hori hayabusa parts in it, i love it, but most people dont. Most people prefer sanwa. So if you get that stick + 35$ in sanwa parts, it wouldnt make sense cuz that makes the stick almost $200. At that point you might as well get a $200 sanwa stick to begin with, you know what i mean? Cuz the lever is $20, and 6buttons will be $15. If you are not in a hurry, i would say wait abit and when black friday come and hoidays, we should see some deals.
Sujit Das all hardware is the same only three differences. 1, rap4 is flat and longer, rapN is boxy and higher, i prefer rap4 design. 2. The rap4 has NO headphone jack, rapN has. 3. Rap4 has viewlix button layout, rapN has noir button layout, noir is less popular. Both same price. Let me know if you have more question, look up noir vs viewlix layout on google if you are curious

Love your channel.The razer panthera is my favorite design but i'm from argentina and with our money value and all the taxes i can't afford it :( Question: The mayflash f300 ...i can't find imput lag specs. Is it good in that aspect? Would you prefer that one or the madcatz alpha?
I havent done input lag test of any of the sticks yet, but i heard and read the f300 doesnt score as high as the more expensive stick, but that is only in mili seconds, for casual play; it is definitely not noticeable. Out of the 2, i would recommend the f300 over the alpha; the alpha is way too small. And modding wise is probably a pain 🙏❤️
I recently started watching your videos on fight stick recommendations and saw this SFV Panthera. I got lucky and bought one on Amazon. My concern was when you said the biggest problem is finding a replacement cable if it was to get damaged. Is there anywhere I can buy an extra cable as a back up? I'm ordering 2 battops and extra buttons for my mayflash f500 elite and im gonna order the pass through for ps4 too so I ain't gotta plug in my controller all the time. (Though it is a great way to charge it...) I'm still debating on getting this or the Quanba Crystal for my next stick though.
I boutght a Razor atrox for about £150, these sticks in reality are well over priced considering the build items. You'd need to consider the warranty and the quality the parts that come with it. I've had to replace my sanwa buttons with seimitsus and the JLF (with an oversized actuator) is going to get replaced with a seimitsu due to the large deadzone. It's worth noting I saw a great comparison from one of your other videos so many thanks for that !

jotecks i would go for the cheaper one, for my taste in terms of design, i like the madcatz te2+ more than the razer panthera, becuz its more flat lower profile, but both are equally good as you will see both in many tournaments. 👍 i kept both in the box for collection purpose; hardly use them

i'm just curious i have the db z fighter edition of this for ps4 i use it on pc and i notice that the player 1,2,3,and 4 lights dont turn on. does the lights only turn on when another arcade stick is detected i did try with other controllers plugged in but nothing happened i also noticed in your video your lights for player 1,2,3,and 4 did not turn on either and you had it plugged in to an actual ps4. i just want to make sure there is no defect everything else works on my stick and i love it and its actually my first one i ever bought thanks by the way for explaining about the bat knob i was wondering why mine did not come with one and now i know keep up the good work on your videos

Gloomy Doomy yea, if you use it over time , it will get scratches, unless you buy a film and layer over the whole thing and preserve it. Kinda like a screen protector for a 17 inch monitor and tape it on to it with cut out of the buttons etc, u can be creative with it 😊
Yes, they all have a slight wobble to it, like you mean slight movement when you touch it? All my stick has that, its normal. As long as it doesnt affect your game play, 🕹👍🙏❤️
This one is not compatible with xbox or switch. This sf5 version is for ps4 ps3 and pc. But razer does make the atrox for the xbox. Check it out on their site 🙏❤️🕹 thank you for watching, good question

Jenson the panthera mvci is on sale on amazon for 109, i think that is a very good deal, the obsidian hardly goes on sale, so i would just go for the panthera for 90$ less, in terms of gameplay, its all the same, but if the obsidian is 150, i think its a good buy, and that cable looks legit, i am happy they are selling the cable. Makes them a better respectable company 👍❤️

I didnt experience any lag or notice any delay during my use, i did hear there was a new firmware update from razer, i havent gotten a chance to update the stick due to my job 🙏❤️
@@JoystickNY just got my razer panthera sf5 yesterday used and came perfect condition and ordered replacement cable from china on eBay just look for razer panthera on EBay search its blue it's says evo but evo doesn't have detachable cable it gt take weeks to get here ill test it out and reply back on feedback ok
That makes sense, I do recommend getting a better stick, if i recall correctly, the hori mini is not moddable, and its a bit too small and light, if you do plan to get a stick, get a serious one and you wont have to upgrade it for a while. If u get a stick for the ps4 or ps5, it will probably last 5-10 yrs. or until the ps6 comes out. Technically there is no best stick, just best parts for your personal reference. Choose a price range and choose a stick design that u like. The internals are pretty much all the same.
For now i would say wait, becuz new sticks are coming out, only 2 new sticks are annouced so far, i predict more to come, i ll prob have 2 reviews of 2 stick later this year too
I do want to put out there that no fight stick should cost over $100 regardless systems cost a lot of money and when your plate stick cost more than your PlayStation or console there overpriced

Hi man , really enjoy your videos !!! I just have a quick question , I want to swop out levers but I'm too scared to tug on the connector on the lever base because it has resin all over it , I want to know that if I rip it out I wont damage anything , any advice please ?
No worries, most of my sticks has resin or glue on it, its just there so the parts dont get loose, is okay to peel those off, most of my stick doesnt have it after i mess with it. I think its also a prevention so people dont mess with it and then return it,

I would avoid the SF5, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite and DBFZ Razer Atrox/Panthera arcade sticks because they do not come with spare bat-tops inside of them. I would also avoid the EVO version of the Razer Panthera because the EVO Panthera is impossible to modify.

@@JoystickNY Can do. I've already made a hitbox from a Hori RAP V. Bought a metal plate from Jasen's Customs with hitbox button layout meant to fit a RAP V. Swap existing plate for new plate. Install SOCD scrubber and buttons.
Used fight sticks already have all the internals and system buttons. Cheap solution with great build quality.

You must really like the sf5 panthera to purchase the stick twice. I really like the stick, give it 9/10, -1 for no mod art. But the akuma ryu art is awsome, nice build. BTW i saw earlier video you had mini screen practicing sf5. what products was that? Great video
Johnny Nguyen thank you, Yes i tend to buy things again if they are a good deal, sometimes to collect. I really like the art work too, i usually like the arcade as is, i tend to not modify the art work or appearance of a controller. That monitor is a external DSLR monitor for my dslr camera, its not really meant to be used for consoles, i was trying to fit my tv in to the frame and i had a hard time, so i figure does this tiny monitor works, and it worked after i plug in the hdmi cable, and i used it for those video cuz it can show my big and the monitor in the frame ❤️🙏 i got it on amazon, mine is the andycine 160, but if you search dslr monitor, a bunch of them comes up. They are pretty much all the same but with different branding on it, and also, there is a slight input lag for gaming, so i don recommend it for gaming, and the battery only last about 1 hour or less

Funny random fact: In my country (Greece) , the DBZ version of this stick is 270$ , whereas the SF and MVSCI versions are 150-170$ , somehow :P

After all this time i would still like to get this stick but a pain in the ass to maintain just because of the cable. The only solution i have found that can make any 5 pin to USB A cable work for this is having to have the board connected to the female pin in the stick is changing the green and red wires and having to resolder it again 😅

Great video. A quick tip if I may. Grab yourself a lapel mic that plugs directly in to your camera. Your audio will improve massively. The BOYA BY-M1 mic is great at a very low cost 🙌

Ok I bought a aftermarket replacement cable from china I ordered it July 11 and it came August 21 it took to long it is braided blue and less then half the length razer panthera sfv cable but it works current all button are mapped right I have USB extension cable so I'm good to go I can put away the original cable and not worry about damaging it

Jay yea, i didnt understand the point of the evo, mainly becuz it was priced at 199. Reasonable price should to be around 119-149 max. Its a good stick, but i just didnt like the pricing. I guess thats why it was on sale for 110 all the time

It's on sale for 190 AUD ( for 8 more hours) which is about 125 USD. I think value is great, I've also hesrd durability problems with Razer, but i can tell you love it!

Jose A yea, if you play it everyday, you dont have detach it, you can just leave it in like if it were not detachable, and put the cable on top of the stick outside, if you are not going to use it for a while and you want to store it, then u can just leave it in the big compartment, basically under the buttons area

Well that sucks I was thinking of getting this as a "dream" stick when I have extra money but I found out it's too hard to change the artwork. You can do it on the evo version but that doesn't have the nice door I wanted and instead you need to unscrew from the bottom. I'm not comfortable having to use screws every time I open it to change something.

Have you noticed there is glue on and around the stick/restrictor plate under the Panthera? I recently got this same stick on Amazon. I really love it but wanted to change the 4 way plate to an 8 way. Noticed it has glue under there. I have never seen that before and not really sure what to do. Do you leave the stock 4 way plates in all your sticks that come with those? I can use the 4 ways fine myself, but the 8 way ones look to be even better. At least I want to give them a try and see.
Darkoasis1 glue on the screws are pretty normal, i have glue on a lot of my sticks, if thats what you mean. Definitely try the octagon gate and see which one you like better ❤️🙏
JoyStickNY I mean on the connector. If you open up your Panthera and the place where the joystick/gate is. There is a little white connector attached to it on the left side that all the wires are running into. It has glue over that white connector. If you go to Amazon and search Razer Panthera the SFV edition. Go down to comments there is one a guy talking about the glue on it. I would post picture of it if I could. Anyways to remove the white connector tab thingy I will have to somehow remove the glue. Is that normal? There are no screws around where I am talking about at least that I can see. Do I even have to remove that little white connector to change the gate to an 8 way? Hopefully not. Thanks for the reply🙂
Darkoasis1 that is normal too, they just added glue to make it a more secure connection, i have seen it in many of my sticks, sometimes the guy over do it with the glue lol 🤣
JoyStickNY Oh ok good lol. So do I have to remove that to change my gate? Or so I just simply swap out the gate via the tabs and can leave the connector as is? I hope I can jus leave the connector as is and won’t have to remove it and mess with the glue to change to the 8 way gate. I also ordered 8 white Sanwa OBSFS silent push buttons, 2 white OBSF 24mm Sanwa push buttons, and a white Sanwa balltop. Was thinking this stick would look great with all white buttons and balltop, and got the silent versions as well. Thanks so much for the answers.
Darkoasis1 you dont have to remove anything to change the gate, theres 4 plastic hooks that holds the gate, simply just use some pressure and its comes off, and snap the new one on 👍

Sujit Das feel free to ask me anything 😊 My favorite arcade stick for under 150 is the Hori Rap4 kai, (i will make a video on that soon) but it has hori hayabusa parts in it, i love it, but most people dont. Most people prefer sanwa. So if you get that stick + 35$ in sanwa parts, it wouldnt make sense cuz that makes the stick almost $200. At that point you might as well get a $200 sanwa stick to begin with, you know what i mean? Cuz the lever is $20, and 6buttons will be $15.
If you are not in a hurry, i would say wait abit and when black friday come and hoidays, we should see some deals.

Sujit Das all hardware is the same only three differences. 1, rap4 is flat and longer, rapN is boxy and higher, i prefer rap4 design. 2. The rap4 has NO headphone jack, rapN has. 3. Rap4 has viewlix button layout, rapN has noir button layout, noir is less popular.

Question: The mayflash f300 ...i can't find imput lag specs. Is it good in that aspect? Would you prefer that one or the madcatz alpha?
I havent done input lag test of any of the sticks yet, but i heard and read the f300 doesnt score as high as the more expensive stick, but that is only in mili seconds, for casual play; it is definitely not noticeable. Out of the 2, i would recommend the f300 over the alpha; the alpha is way too small. And modding wise is probably a pain 🙏❤️

I boutght a Razor atrox for about £150, these sticks in reality are well over priced considering the build items. You'd need to consider the warranty and the quality the parts that come with it. I've had to replace my sanwa buttons with seimitsus and the JLF (with an oversized actuator) is going to get replaced with a seimitsu due to the large deadzone. It's worth noting I saw a great comparison from one of your other videos so many thanks for that !

i'm just curious i have the db z fighter edition of this for ps4 i use it on pc and i notice that the player 1,2,3,and 4 lights dont turn on. does the lights only turn on when another arcade stick is detected i did try with other controllers plugged in but nothing happened i also noticed in your video your lights for player 1,2,3,and 4 did not turn on either and you had it plugged in to an actual ps4. i just want to make sure there is no defect everything else works on my stick and i love it and its actually my first one i ever bought thanks by the way for explaining about the bat knob i was wondering why mine did not come with one and now i know keep up the good work on your videos

Gloomy Doomy yea, if you use it over time , it will get scratches, unless you buy a film and layer over the whole thing and preserve it. Kinda like a screen protector for a 17 inch monitor and tape it on to it with cut out of the buttons etc, u can be creative with it 😊

Yes, they all have a slight wobble to it, like you mean slight movement when you touch it? All my stick has that, its normal. As long as it doesnt affect your game play, 🕹👍🙏❤️

? Do you need firmware upgrade for lag improvements like razer panthera or is it good to go out of the box you didn't mention on the unboxing sorry you said it at the end
I didnt experience any lag or notice any delay during my use, i did hear there was a new firmware update from razer, i havent gotten a chance to update the stick due to my job 🙏❤️

@@JoystickNY just got my razer panthera sf5 yesterday used and came perfect condition and ordered replacement cable from china on eBay just look for razer panthera on EBay search its blue it's says evo but evo doesn't have detachable cable it gt take weeks to get here ill test it out and reply back on feedback ok

If you bought the razer panthera, it will be 100% the same, if you buy the razer atrox, then it will be diff for the xbox.

That makes sense, I do recommend getting a better stick, if i recall correctly, the hori mini is not moddable, and its a bit too small and light, if you do plan to get a stick, get a serious one and you wont have to upgrade it for a while. If u get a stick for the ps4 or ps5, it will probably last 5-10 yrs. or until the ps6 comes out. Technically there is no best stick, just best parts for your personal reference. Choose a price range and choose a stick design that u like. The internals are pretty much all the same.

For now i would say wait, becuz new sticks are coming out, only 2 new sticks are annouced so far, i predict more to come, i ll prob have 2 reviews of 2 stick later this year too

I do want to put out there that no fight stick should cost over $100 regardless systems cost a lot of money and when your plate stick cost more than your PlayStation or console there overpriced

Yes, its very moddable and has alot of room for alot of lever and parts

Hi man , really enjoy your videos !!! I just have a quick question , I want to swop out levers but I'm too scared to tug on the connector on the lever base because it has resin all over it , I want to know that if I rip it out I wont damage anything , any advice please ?
No worries, most of my sticks has resin or glue on it, its just there so the parts dont get loose, is okay to peel those off, most of my stick doesnt have it after i mess with it. I think its also a prevention so people dont mess with it and then return it,

I would avoid the SF5, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite and DBFZ Razer Atrox/Panthera arcade sticks because they do not come with spare bat-tops inside of them. I would also avoid the EVO version of the Razer Panthera because the EVO Panthera is impossible to modify.
My SFV Panthera came with a bat top. Even if it didn't, it's $5 for a good bat top. Not exactly a good reason to not get a great stick.
