Gonna be 40yrs old this year and I've been a member of the fgc since the sfII arcade days. I grew up NYC so the arcade scene is where my heart's at. I got into being a stick player since the Saturn days and I haven't looked back....but since last year I got hard into stick culture as far as modding and customizing. Little did I know how deep the rabbit hole goes. I'm a novice when it comes to modding....but I love it.
Whenever I get a new console... I buy a new stick for it.
Same here. I love fighters, shmups and beat em ups. Pretty much all the arcade genres and have to play on stick. I miss the days of Mad Ctaz. They were kick ass with their stuff. I'm currently on a Hori and love Hori too.
you are a legend dude...definitely one of the few that got me to love fighting games even though I'm not the best or nowhere near it fighting games will always be in my top 3 genres...keep doing you man and good luck with your future projects.
yo same
Almost couldn't concentrate because of the nostalgic Chrono Trigger music lol
@Luis Dante Oh shit! For me it only took about 100,000 hours! It really works!!
good music choice
Fucking best vgm of all time!
Check out the extended version that was made for Chrono Resurrection, the new arrangement for Chrono Cinematica, or the Chrono Trigger metal medley by Power Glove.
same
Love the chrono trigger background song, really compliments each piece, good call Justin.
I’m making the transition from controller to stick so this video is mad helpful! Thanks so much!!
I kinda lucked grabbing a 8 button MAS stick on a whim at a garage sale maybe 4 months for only $20 not knowing what exactly it was. Needless to say, after researching it's astounding history I will be restoring it to it's former glory and probably keep for my personal collection.
Justin is ridiculously humble man. Really hope to get an autograph or chat with him some day
I got the Hitbox, the CrossUp, the Vewlix, the Obsidian, the Victrix, and the MAS of those that you showed. Plenty of others too of course because im one of those collector-freaks and love varying up how I play between different layouts and feels of the bunch that I own, although my go-to for playing on my big tv is the Vewlix and my go-to for sitting at my gaming monitor setup is the Victrix. Great vid.
Why you sitting here typing a long ass comment when you could be making videos showcasing these gems to the community
Hey awesome collection of fight sticks Justin and great reviews dude. I actually still own the Capcom-style MAS stick for ps2 from AS from a while back.
Great vid man!!! Thanks for sharing!!! Nice to see you got the Bison Victrix as well!!!
That last legend stick though.. man they all look amazing, but that one has a hellavu a story i bet
I just got a MayFlash F300, love it! It's my first arcade stick, always used controllers on fighting games for years but been wanting to learn on arcade sticks for years, finally gave in and bought one. Planning on collecting sticks for the foreseeable future!
Same Here!
i got the f500
Do u still have it and is it good
F300 is simple, and real small, but it’s fairly portable and is cheap as hell. It’s exactly what my poor ass needed lol
You should get the Hori fight stick pro.
This was a cool video. I have one stick and I use a Brook Converter and it works great. I was thinking of getting another stick so I can have one for both XB and PS but I ended up sticking with the Brook Converter because it hasn't given me any problems and works pretty good.
Your awesome man love your streams and vids you inspire me in gaming man I hope I still see you playing games for another decade
Thanks for this vid!!! I’ve been looking for a good stick for some Virtua fighter.
One of the best tunes from Choro Trigger. Awesome stuff.
Great to get a review on joysticks from a legend 👍
JWong - ‘It’s never over... till Daigo Parry’
Damn, didn’t know you were a fellow member of the Cross Up Alpha gang. Nice! That put a smile on my face.
DKC2 music for the end!!!! Nice!!!
Love that old MAS Stick. Brings back so many memories
You’re such a brilliant player. Been following your career for years. Big fan, Justin. Really big fan.
I have a number of sticks myself. Some are customized sticks, others are straight MadCatz sticks from the PS3/360 era. Just got the EGO and I do like it, even though you have to plug in a controller from your respective system to use it. But being able to use it on any system makes it worth that caveat to me. Thinking of modding it further, but I don’t know to what extent.
Just a question… What are your thoughts on HAPP joystick/buttons and American style layout? I really like it a lot. It’s neck and neck with my Seimitsu stick/Sanwa buttons in the Japanese layout. I just like to have variety.
Now following. Thanks for the great video. Some interesting sticks to look at in the future.
Oh yeah, LOVE the Chrono Trigger music.
Loving the Chrono Trigger bg music in this one!
A lot of these sticks look awesome.
I wonder if Justin modifies his fightsticks at all, like swapping the buttons, gate, springs, or what not.
Or whether he just uses them stock.
I only have six sticks personally but my favourite is MadCatz SF x Tekken Arcade Fightstick V.S. Edition (PS3/360). Massive area for your hands, amazing build-quality and a real heavyweight, which I love. Feels like something ripped from a real arcade cab
Ive been using this stick since it came out, thought I was the only one who loved it lol
I recently switched from my old hori rap4 hayabusa (with the buttons and stick swapped out for sanwas) to the gamo2 k28 and while I find I do a lot better on the k28 I miss the size and customizability of an actual stick. Also while I was less consistent with inputs on stick I found performing inputs on stick a lot more fun.
I liked the end there, good job.
Justin with the fire music on the intro.
That etokki is so nice. I would need something heavy as well but I'm so used to controllers. Honestly my street fighter game is out dated and full of flaws. I have a lot of work to do to get back in shape. This was dope though Justin.
The HORI VLX Diamond! One of my favorites in my collection.
You still carry your first stick with you, man. That's real rad.
He has 2. There isnt a feel of a that psrticulsr stick anymore. They dont make them yipes has his aswell.
I've been using the Victrix for a little under 2 years now. My palms get so sweaty, I made a "white hot palm" imprint on the aircraft aluminum coating. Lol.
Does Victrix come with a detachable USB cable?
The virtux ones looks so cool! 400 bucks though gotta start saving up. :/
What I'll say about the Victrix and other heavy box sticks is that before you buy one make sure you understand what your getting.
Most heavy sticks are anywhere from 16-18 inches wide, weigh around 10-13lbs, and are very tall on your lap.
That makes them really unfortunate for travel and storage. However the added weight and size makes them incredibly comfortable for long sessions or labbing.
The Victrix also only comes in 4-5 pre-lazer engraved SF designs (All but a couple designs sold out) or a grey non engraved.
The biggest thing is to consider the parts. The Vixtrix also comes with Sanwa buttons and a detachable JLF stick. Which cost less than 100$ in total.
The actual parts you use to play are pretty much the same ones you find in everything so really ask yourself if this is worth 400$ just for a pretty stick.
i was debating on getting an etokki, now i'm sold
nice to see the old white te featured, still got one for the memories.
Lets goo justiiiiin, amazing video dude, could you make a video on 3rdstrike defending mechanics and basic OS plss
Hohoho, dropping that Chronotrigger jam there. I hear you Justin!
Hori RAP2 (Blue & Gray SE Model) for PS2 and Razer Panthera SFV edition for PS4 are my all time favorite sticks.
Appreciate the vid JW. You are cool af bro.
gr8 work bro keep uploading
Awesome thanks pal 😊
Good gosh.
The Vewlix really looks like it was pulled from an arcade cabinet. Still my favorite stick of all time, outside the sick custom Qbee joystick
This was an awesome video to watch, I’m trying to get into buying a stick myself
Hello man, I noticed you've been using a vewlix layout for a long time besides that Etokki one. Any particular reason why you prefer Vewlix over Noir?
I used Madcatz SF4 TE1 that I got wayback 2011 for MVC3/UMVC3 and I still use it today via PS3 MVC2 Online
Thanks for the review. Thumbs up. The Etokki (7lbs.) looks nice. I don't like the sticks with the square gait. Circle gait seems to be better for pulling off 360/720 moves. I notice some sticks don't have much palm rest for long game play. Seems the manufacture could be cutting players short. I have a few old MAS Super Pro-Stick (Neo-Geo/PS2) and a old RGB monitor from MAS Systems company. They went out of business awhile back in California.
Was there ever a review on the crossup?
Jwong mixbox or hit box? I can’t make up my mind! I’ve tried both layouts on my keyboard on gg. Wasd felt a little better
How do you feel about the Qanba Dragon? Only thing I don't like is the start buttons location. Just turn the touchpad into the start button and it's a non-issue.
The theme on your VLX Diamond is taken from the Taito VEWLIX Diamond cabinet. It has the same color theme as on yours.
All different VEWLIX models are
F (white sides, black metal parts)
L (All black)
C (Capcom cabinet, red sides, black metal parts)
D (diamond which has the same colors as on your stick)
DB (Diamond Black. Black everywhere except the wrist rest has a similar metallic look as the regular Diamond)
There are VLX arcade stick versions of the F and D for PS3+PC and C and L for PS3+PS4+PC
Hey J,how about the levers on your stick??
That og Mas stick is DOPE! That’s what I need maybe 😝
i have the Razer Atrox too... but this Etoki Omni is awesome !!!
Are the gold buttons on the omni crown/samducksu? If so, I loooove those buttons.
that dreamcast stick looks the coolest
i want that mixbox bad... i would map crouch to the "W" key though, it feels more comfy that way on keyboard i feel like
Hey, do you need to replace any parts? Like hexadecimal slot for stick?
Never had a stick and would love to get away from my pad and learn.
HeyJustin, Ithink people wanted to know about parts and mods etc. What lever you use/like, gate, etc.
currently trying to buy my first stick, and i’m doing a lot of research for like the best possible stick i can buy. This video though, this video made me realize, Just buy a stick. find one you like and just buy it
Big hello from honduras !!nice collection i own de victrix ryu special edition hope they make the akuma version keep it up
xD salu2 desde honduras tambien
Would u ever switch to hitbox or the crossup?
I love my qanba dragon. Best stick I've ever owned/ used
Do you typically use stock jlf's?
Had a MAS purchased from arcade shock back in 2011. Came broken, they had me send back for repairs, never got it back. They also never refunded my money. Ignored all attempts to contact as well.
Daaamn that mas stick tho haha. My first was a pelican stick for ps2 lol
Good music choice
Fucking knew the music was Chrono Trigger in a millisecond... OMG the feels!!!
What's a feature you would like to see added to sticks for next-gen consoles? (PS5 & Xbox Series X/S)
Do you prefer a heavier or lighter tension on your joystick.
Do you use any Dreamcast arcade sticks?
Corridors of time is my alarm tone!!!
Nice collection justin
I kinda like the logic 3 joysticks I know they are a cheaper option but it’s all I could afford back then and I’m so used to them
I'd love to build my own happ arcade stick. As good as the MAS stick hopefully with all same parts
I just have a Hori RAP 4. I ended up switching out the Hayabusa stick and buttons for Sanwa -- not because they were bad or anything, I just ended up liking the feel of the Sanwa parts better. I also went with an octo-gate instead of the standard square one.
Octogates are GODLIKE! I HATE square gates! One day maybe I’ll adapt 🤮 I’m trying!
I own the PS2 Tekken 4 HORI Arcade Stick and the PS5 SF6 HORI Arcade Stick Alpha. I'm going to buy the HORI Fighting Edge if possible and the etokki looks solid too, thanks! i
Although I played fighting games with pad on X360 (default 360 pad) I did end up getting a stick I 1st got was a wireless one for X360 which came with Tekken 6's collector's editin and then I got the Razer (Green) one.
In between an Etokki Omni and a Hitbox. Such a hard choice! Ahhhhhhhh
The MAS stick is easy to replicate if you can't find one. All it is are pieces of 3/4 in MDF which you can just size and cut, drill holes for panel, put it together and install a brook board.
You cant recreate the joystick that comes with them tho, i don't think they exist anymore but i could be wrong. I just bought mine for super cheap a couple weeks ago tho, will never use another stick if i have the option to use my MAS.
@@justincredible1593 They still exist and are still being manufactured. They are Industry Lorenzo (IL joystick) Every arcade part supplier sells them.
FGC-Linux word? Would you happen to know which buttons were originally used too? Mine could use a swap and I want to keep it as original as possible.
@@justincredible1593 Same brand IL they make buttons too. They are also the original manufacturer of all the American arcade parts back in the day. You can find them at focus attack.com and paradise arcade.com
Great arcade sticks. Congratulations
That Etokki is *beautiful*
Thank you, I was wondering if there were any sticks that have the movement buttons on the right side instead of the left? The my box looked great but I'd need to flip it
Southpaw mix box is available on their website
@@northdakotabeast1547 Thanks!
@@shinjoni :)
Quick question do you know anything about adapter for ps2 that I can use for my xbox one arcade stick ?
The best!
I still have my hori hrap for ps3. I would love to put a retro brook board in it to play on Dreamcast
Which is the best stick for mvc2? Especially for an msp user?
Got my badly homemade arcade stick shell i made in shop class and my buddy who knew how to do parts as i don’t help me on that and still own it for the ps1 stick is stiff as i had to replace it with a not so good stick i had in my closet at the time.
Jesus Christ.. i wish i could still buy a mas stick. Love how the buttons are aligned like in the arcades. And the bat top looks springy as hell too. Is there anything remotely like that anymore?
Build one with HAPP or Lorenzo parts + a Brook ufb 👍. HAPP are the OG, USA arcade parts. I've heard that Lorenzos are better, but never tried them.
@@TexasHollowEarth So my only hope is build it myself? Great, I suck at building things. Appreciate the heads up.
Efff you Wong. Your hitbox video got me to buy one XD
Gatta get some affiliate links or something going dude. You’ve been a great spokesperson for a lot of gear for me over the year (because I regard your opinion highly and think you’re a reputable person with integrity).
You should be getting some kickback XD
Im still wondering what happend to razer panther its hard to find one the only one available is the evo and atrox it makes my brain hurt also justin hows the guilty gear beta
holy shit the viewlix!!!
Do you modify your sticks?
0:48 cheatbox got you too :(
yea sick
mIs it possible to connect the sfv joystick to a ps1? Like is there an adapter for that?
I have a razer and eight arc I had a madcatz og and te 2
love my Omni
I legit laughed at the Sega Astro with a Viewlix layout. Whoever made that did not know what they were doing.
My set up. Razer Panthera with a black metal nori layout panel, qanba gravity buttons, ex link groove, sanwa jlf otto V5 mod with square gate. Basically end game, extremely portable, and noir is so much better and ergonomic than viewlex.
Sick setup bro
It is hard to decide get crossup or victrix
