    Just found your channel after doing my first Munro - Ben Lomond a couple of weeks ago. Wetted the appetite for more Scottish adventures. Love the format, good arming advice and great to see what the paths look like on the ground. Enjoying summit snacks too - we tend to hip flask Whisky. Keep up the good work- loving it!

    Great video Douglas and Alistair. A hard slog on the three highest peaks of Rum. Rum is always infested with Midges I was told by my relatives who live in Mallaig. The peaks of Rum are nearly always covered in cloud I have seen it myself. The sandy beach on Eigg is the bay of Laig (The Singing Sands). The Bullough family used to own Rum and they built Kinloch Castle and the Mausoleum at Kilmory Bay. I hope you got something to eat when you got back to the B&B. The scenery on your epic mountain journey was fantastic nice to see that area again. ATB. Stay Safe.

    • @HighlandHikers
      @HighlandHikers  3 года назад

      Thanks Douglas - we absolutely loved it! The midges weren’t actually as bad as we thought they might be. Most of the time we were able to sit out and enjoy the views over the bay, with a nice cold beer 🍻
      Yeah fortunately we had a very kind host who left dinner out for us for our return! A chick pea quiche followed by chocolate brownie. A well earned meal 😋
      Rum is a fantastic place. Maybe one day we’ll return and see what else the island has to offer. Look out for our video later this month where we show what else we did over the weekend 😃

      It was a Glenfiddich 15 year old. It was certainly a very long day and with it being my first proper attempt at scrambling it was testing my bravery a wee bit. Time will be a good way for me to forget and no doubt find myself doing more scrambling in the future - Alistair

      @@HighlandHikers nice, 15 is probably the best glenfiddich ive had. Don’t have any real scrambling experience yet myself and look to have the head to manage the aonach eagach one day before I get too old but after having had a few wobbles on the Elie chain walk recently I know I’m a long way from anything challenging.

    • @HighlandHikers

      Immediately after doing this I was of the opinion that I wouldn’t be able to do Aonach Eagach. I might try and build up to it though, small steps. I’ve only ever tried the 12 and 15, but the 15 is a firm favourite for a regular dram. Very easy to drink. I’ll need to think about what to take for the milestone Munro counts in future.
