Amazing detail. You can even see the entire airframe and rotor system unload after you set down. The Flanker Boys have always been astonishing in their attention to detail. Great flying!!
Holy cow I wish I could fly like that, except if you used easy mode. :3 Anyway how do you hide the yellow autopilot hud thingie and how do you open rear doors?
DCS world is free, it includes a basic P-51 (i don't think it has any weapons? never flown it) and the SU-25T. the SU-25T is a pretty good aircraft, however it is mostly Air-to-Ground only -- still a lot of fun if you like blowing things up. after that, if you really enjoy flying, get Flaming Cliffs 3. its only like 10$, and includes the more basic aircraft, that people usually fly, ie SU-27/SU-33 (basically same, just one is carrier based), SU-25 (non-t version, faster, but can't carry as much stuff. doesn't have as cool of TV screen for shooting shit), A-10A (very basic A-10, similar to SU-25T, easier to fly than the 10C model which has clickable cockpit), F-15C (most used fighter in the game currently, very basic, easy to learn, very capable and air-to-air only). these aircraft are pretty easy to start up and get into, ie like press right shift + L to turn battery on, then press right shift and HOME key to start engines. press F for flaps and taxi out and fly. they do take some getting used to if you want to fly in combat however, like using radar and such... occasionally they go on sale. I would recommend NOT using steam, because the steam version is fucked. i bought most of my modules through steam, but steam doesn't stay up to date as closely as the actual Eagle Dynamics version does. most people are playing 1.5 BETA or the 2.0 Alpha. the 2.0 alpha requires the NTTR map, which costs like 35$ right now, so i wouldn't recommend that yet.
TEST FLIGHT! Umm, from direct experience & 30+ years of flying various helicopters. You hardly got out of the "ground effect" cushion of dense air generated by downwash. At times you WERE flying TOO LOW for comfort & many a ramp rat & pilot would have made that clear, when you shut it down at the end of the flight. One of the main reasons that test flights ARE FLOWN, is to monitor the torque generated, against turbine speed & temperature of the exhaust! You need to climb over 10,000 feet to check such against the thinning air at the altitude. If you were doing a test taxiing THEN you need to clear with ATC beforehand starting AND obtain ATC RADIO clearance to do so, once up to power. This is also to give other traffic in the control zone, a chance to avoid running into you! It was good to remember, being a test flight (military or otherwise), that you DID turn on all the necessary aircraft lights & beacons. (You'd be surprised how many experienced pilots OFTEN overlook such. But it is not unknown that military helicopters (for OPSEC), will never use their lights. (Only in known aviation lanes, & then turn them off 2 miles away, having passed thru safely). That all said, it was a far more accurate version, than a German consul player, who HAD to make it clear, he FORGOT to turn the generators to stand by (& possibly induce an autorotation before he even left the MATZ!). Not an experience pilots like to do, but it also CAN PROVIDE near perfect stealth landing in military operations, when the less noise the better - no or little turbine noise generation, & the thump, thump, thump of the blade beating, CAN BE carefully stopped using the rotor break. I wish that you could remove the shake or wobble, the handling seems to generate?
DemonAMVs I've been to some place, via choppper which you couldn't believe & the wild parties that took place I've probably worked alongside Air America types & never knew it! This above posting would be bar talk in the pilots hospitality suite. But you do get to some rather interesting places AND MEETING some famous people trying to avoid having their privacy being blown!
