  • Using a Garmin Xero chronograph to measure the velocity difference between a Remington V3 Tac 13 with 13” barrel and a Saiga 12 with an 18.5” barrel.
Bonus energy in foot pounds and joules along with an AR15 for reference in video as well.

This channel is very underrated, it would be cool if you could make a video where you rapidly shoot at long distance targets of 50+ yards with a pistol.

Gotta love the Saiga's. The Russian ones are hard to come by in my area, so I got one of the Lynx-12 versions. Been an accurate, flawless running shotty, even with bird shot.

@@kenwood6212 for sure! they aren’t being imported anymore. I got mine probably about 15 years ago for 400 beans. Converted it myself from the sporter style. Like you, I got a AWS Spets 12 pistol to make a Saiga 12 sbs clone. Good to know your Lynx-12 runs good. Both are Chinese made, maybe from the same factory even. Was yours running birdshot fine when you got it or did you need the CSS low brass reliability kit? I had to get one for my Saiga 12. The Spets 12 only cycles, heavy buck and slugs about 1300 fps and faster due to its short barrel length.

@@RangeToyz .... My Lynx has run bird shot fine from the get-go. It's all stock except for adding a Magpul ZHUKOV-S stock and a HK G3 style muzzle-brake.

I didn't think slugs traveled that fast. Thanks for the insight. When are you installing binary triggers of those guys? 🤣😂

@@DREAM_GUNS yeah, these slugs are fast! They’re rifled too. I should’ve shown them up close.
I know you’re joking on the binary triggers lol I’ve thought of it for the Saiga 12, but the triggers aren’t rated for 12 gauge. I actually converted my Saiga 12 first with a metal Fostech Bumpski lol Binary triggers weren’t invented yet when I got it. I turned all my bumpstocks into the ATF when tRump and the NRA drafted that legislation for the executive order ban. It cost me big loosing those three bumpstocks and then buying this folding one. I like binary triggers more now anyway. Bumpstocks were fun on my M&P 15-22 with 50 round drum. A better and easier rhythm than a binary trigger, but your sights bounce around. I actually have an old video of it rolling a couple self healing targets off a gravel road. It was awesome strafing dusty ground at that quarry I have in a couple old videos about 200 yards below me :)

@@RangeToyz What do you run for bird shot, and what velocity is it? I remember reading somewhere that lower velocity stuff causes issues, but I can't seem to find that page anymore. Such a cool SBS, but there are so few in the wild, it's hard to find info when you need it.

    • @RangeToyz

@@CMDR.Gonzo.von.Richthofen I’ve run mostly Remington Gun Club Target loads 7.5, 8 an 9 for the price and in stock on local shelves. It’s all about 1145 fps and runs fine. I wish I could chronograph it with this Garmin, but radar doesn’t pick it up. I think my old Caldwell would, but the weather needs to be good, it doesn’t work very well under these tree branches and it needs to plug into a headphone jack which I don’t have on this phone lol

@@RangeToyz Yeah, they really are cool guns, and shockingly under-represented in the NFA world. That doesn't bother me, because I like having something a little unique, but I am surprised that you don't see many of them SBS'd.
Thanks for the intel on the birdshot! I've only run buck through mine, but I found a deal on some Fiocchi 7 1/2 @1200 fps. I wanted to order a bunch of it, but wasn't sure if it would run, so I thought I'd ask the only other Tac-13 SBS owner I "know" 🤣 Now I just hope the crimp lets me fill the tube to capacity lol
