Honestly, the Tab A8 just looks like a Tab A7 with a new body, one more gigabyte of RAM, and an added 128GB Storage Model. I hope that 2023 Tab A9 brings new features like Samsung Dex and S-Pen Support, plus a major increase in performance.

@@cobaltblue5523 true. It would be really good If Samsung had the S 8 lite back, though even without dex I’ve heard the A7 is a very decent tablet. And looks like A8 too. Now one thing Samsung did right was releasing A7 lite which Is like the early days of an iPad mini. I remember when the iPad mini was a very affordable and comfortable tablet to get so Samsung now took that market of a smaller tablet being affordable. Well now I have iPad nine which I love but it’s a big miss from apple doing now the mini an expensive tablet. It’s not as expensive as the air or the pro but it’s far from the lovely cheaper tablet apple once had. So good for Samsung covering that market apple left. A small affordable tablet.
Ivan, as always you tell it like it is. The newest one isn’t sufficiently improved to make it worthwhile to either upgrade from the a7 or to pay more just to have the “newest “ model. Your candor is both refreshing and appreciated. As always keep up the good work. Look forward to your next video.
Just got my A8 today. I agree with the screen resolution criticism. I think Samsung hurts its reputation a little by decreasing the ppi from 220 to 216. It's not bad at all. It's still HD and on a 10 inch display, that's all most people need. But average is not what Samsung should be aiming for. There are generic Chinese tablets sold today with the same specs. Samsung really should have matched the resolution of the A7. And I understand that the screen resolution and ARM processor were chosen in order to cope with tech material shortages and boost battery life. Thankfully, I am using the A8 primarily as a reader, and a controller for Google TV, Google Home and my music streaming. For gaming, I am just patiently waiting for a PS5. My tablet use is very light. For those out there who want an impressive display and a premium Snapdragon processor, I would point them to the Lenovo Tab P11+ or the very expensive Samsung S8. Now I do like a few things about the A8. The chassis and finish is really nice. Not quite as thin and light as my dad's S5e, but better than the Lenovo Duet chrome tablet I just sold. Bumping the RAM to 4GB was overdue, as was offering up to 128GB of system storage. And it's also great that Samsung has committed to a minimum of 4 years of software support. Android 11L is coming in June, and we can count on Android 12 and 13 to come to the A8 as well. So if you are looking for a basic 10-inch Android tablet, and want it to be from an established brand name, this is not just a fine choice, but it's one of the only choices.
The problem with any Lenovo tablets is the unreliable updates and software, if you look at online forums a lot of people also seem to have their Widevine certification broken/downgraded to L3, so you can't play Netflix or Amazon Prime in HD, which is a lot of everyday people bought these cheap tablets for And almost no generic chinese tablet has Widevine L1, unfortunately this is still the biggest advantage of Samsung that not many people know of, their tablets are guaranteed to playback online streaming services in HD/FHD, and not abandon the software after just 1 year Lenovo P11/Nokia T20/Lenovo M10 Series/Huawei MatePad had late update complaints and Widevine L3 certifications Can you imagine buying $300 devices + streaming subscription to watch it in 480p on a 10 inch screen?
bought the A7 for my daughter in 2020. She mostly watches movies and videos, and plays simple games (like Roblox). Kinda sounds like I don't need to upgrade to the A8, I think?
You guys are being too harsh on the a8 in the comments. It's a very good tablet and in my opinion is better than the a7. How would Samsung make a worse tablet.
Thanks this was helpful, I bought the A8 thinking it would be slightly better than A7 but I could tell that when I played videos at 1080p the quality wasn't consistent and like you said it has a cooler tone. I think I will change for the A7 hopefully it'll be what I need... I got the A7 I've had it for a month now. Personally I prefer it over the A8, it looks more sleek, the quality and colour is definitely better. I read somewhere that after they updated their software it didn't work as well so I haven't updated it and it still works fine. It does sometimes loose internet connection but not often, it doesn't really bother me.
You’ve definitely got a new sub here. I have the a7 , you covered everything and were completely honest. I want to convince my mother to get this so that way she can game and enjoy her shows. I’m not really knowledgeable with technology but you definitely helped me get her on board. She like me and doesn’t like to spend money and this was perfect for her. She gets what she wants at a reasonable price.
if u are from the USA i think amazon also have some cheap tabs that can do this job. But personally i enjoy more the ipad , and u can find 2nd hand for cheap price with better display and SoC.
I just bought the A8 and seriously regret it. The screen is AWFUL. It has so much blue cast that it is harsh and uncomfortable to look at, it’s a retina hazard. It does have a feature that is supposed to give it a softer cast but all it does in reality just make the image muddy.
Bro, I wished you said the model more often instead of saying go for this instead of this, or go here instead of here, because the two tablets were not visible after your final edit, which makes your message delivery confusing.
I would choose the A7 based on that chipset. Snapdragon 662 is used on so many (30 different smartphones from TEN BRANDS, and then two other Lenovo tablets) devices so I reckon more apps and games are optimised for it. That Unisoc Tiger T618 is used on only 3 ZTE phones and one Blackview tablet: all this according to the GSMArena phone finder. Support will disappear pretty quickly for that Tab A8, I doubt they can even honour the full upgrade promise with that chipset, seems unviable.
Great tablet reviews channel please , A7 4g or A8 wifi only? ,both are at the same price here now for 220 USD and in ur usage did u find that the 5:3 aspect ratio of A7 is better for reading " pdf textbooks" like apple's 4:3 ?

Hi Ivan, great video! My son has a samsung tab A (2019) that in uses in school (all his manuals are digital) and I find the definition very poor, with the letters being a bit blurry even . Now I have to buy a tablet for my 5th grade daughter so she can use it in school as well. She'll need to use her tablet to read, many hours a day. Which one do you think has the most reading quality, and least eye straining? Thank you!

I wish I had seen your video first because I do art work and I don't like the cooler color display. I didn't think I could get another A7 at this point.
I adjusted the settings on display to bright up to the edge of the orange line and turned the adaptive brightness off and the eye comfort shield (warm tone) on and it's pretty much like the A7 now.

Samsung Galaxy Tablet A7 is better. I did get the A8 from Argos in UK, got a refund. The A8 crashed on me whilst using Facebook, the performance is not as good as the A7. People do not bother with the A8. A7 is a great and miles better than the A8. Samsung Galaxy A8 is rubbish, get the A7.
