Remember when we used to get actual comedies like Scary Movie, Austin Powers, Space Balls, Monthy Python and the Holy Grail, Mrs. Doubtfire, etc? Because this film looks like a real comedy as well!

He's on firmer ground about not including him in the trailer in my opinion. I don't have a problem with the cameo at all but that is one way to pull this from comedy to political commentary in the eyes of a more neutral viewer of the trailer.

@@garybicknell2135 I agree. People who follow DW already know Cruz has a softer, less uptight persona outside the 2016 campaign trail. Some of my relative's only exposure to him is the evangelical/snake oil salesman devoid of charisma and charm on the national stage. It makes it much harder to recommend as general entertainment.

They tried. No theatre would take it. They also tried to get in touch with lots of people who claimed they wanted to be in a DW film and got a ton of immediate "No!"s.
I really don’t know about that. With the resounding success of Sound of Freedom I’m sure there are some theaters that would be willing to make a stand. I hope I’m wrong, but it seems DW’s primary goal is to get subscribers, not primarily to contribute to culture. It’s not necessarily bad, but annoying because I don’t want to subscribe to a whole other platform for just one movie. Even if the theater thing is true, why not have a one time streaming “rental” for a more affordable price?
This is the baby of The Ringer and Dodgeball and I've never been happier to laugh so hard at a trailer.

I showed this trailer to me teenagers last night, and told them this is what conedy looked like when I was their age. They LOVED this trailer! The kids really haven't seen anything quite like it.
Also, if Stacy Abrams (who never conceded her loss to Governor Kemp, GA) can be President of Earth in Star Trek, then Ted Cruz can be an spectator at a basketball game in Ladyballers.

and the theaters told them we are willing to show anything, except anything related to this topic, so they ended up doing this, and putting it on Daily Wire+

@@Dennis-nc3vw I don't think everyone is religious at Daily Wire. There are the obvious ones with Matt Walsh and Shapiro, but I don't know about Klavan or Brett Cooper.
@@stevenwasik3369 I can't speak to Cooper's religious stances, but Klavan's pretty darn religious. Not in the same way as the resident Catholics Walsh and Knowles, but easily half of what he talks about is religious philosophy. He's just incredibly funny, so it's easy to forget that.
Comedies we used to get in the 90s and early 2000s. I had low expectations going in and laughed out loud a couple of times.
laughed AND cried (well, i am a woman), it was a comedy but with a message. major success!
Putting Ted in it was genius. Ted is a very polarizing figure for both parties, at least for those of us with ling term memory. Ted has come around now, but we still wonder. So he shows up at a game to see dudes identifying as girls compete. That's comedy.
I personally think they didn't need to put him in the trailer, it would have more impactful as a surprise cameo. jmho. same for Shapiro, he only has 2 lines. and yes, Candace is in it too.

I'd say some of both since Hollywood wouldn't touch this kind of film with a ten foot pole. It highlights how woke and unfunny the whole industry has been for over a decade.
For the record, in an interview with Jeremy .. he said that he had had lunch with Ted and Ted expressed to him that he wanted to try acting .. so he put him in there .... and also there are all of these conservative people because they couldn't even get trained actors who were already cancelled to agree to do this ... everyone is afraid of their reputation .... I LOVE this trailer and can't wait to see it :)

Yes. When I saw the trailer I went, "Oh! How long has it been since we had something like Happy Gilmour or The Water Boy. And before anyone QQ'S about crossdressing, what about stuff like Mrs. Doubtfire or the Wall Market section of Final Fantasy Vii? There is no group that should be immune to being targetted by comedy. That's comedy's whole point.
I liked it. 15-20 years ago this wouldn't have gotten much attention but today, it stands out. I have no issue with Cruz being in it as the left had done that so much too - look at all the left wing people Star Trek has had like Stacey Abrams. Why not use him here?
Here’s where I think it makes it acceptable… Ted looks like he’s just a random civilian. His role doesn’t seem to be something that elevates him to a higher status. Whereas apparently Stacey Abrams played the President of Earth, which is something else. I don’t know her official position in government, but if she was like, a commander of a fleet or ship or something (or less) than I’d see that as fine. It would be an equivalent or lesser level. When you go higher than it makes it harder to suspend your disbelief because it feels less like a cameo and more like a more blatant endorsement.

A comedy that actually looks FUN... I haven't seen a decent comedy since Old School, Dodgeball, Anchorman, Zoolander and others. I hope movies like this become a trend. If they want to make the world into a joke, I say we MOCK THEM INTO OBLIVION.

I’ll say it looks like something they had fun while making.
I somewhat disagree that this is only playing to their audience. Obviously it is to a point and will be exclusive to their members for a time. But when it gets released to the public I think it's more for those that aren't necessarily aligned with Daily Wire but agree on the trans agenda and definitely trans in sports but are are hesitant to voice their views by highlighting the absurdity to such a degree.

Perfect way to declare war on the nonsense that is destroying the western entertainment industry. This will be a wake up call. 7 million dollar budget. This movie will make far more than that.
Their stated number of subscribers is currently at 1 million. Even at the discounted price of a monthly sub they currently have ($6.50/monthly) that is a drop in the bucket. Add all the one time $6.50 that pay to watch then cancel and it still should at least make the investment well worth it.
