Think about why. They haven't brought any new male actors into Hollywood in too long. Timothee Chalamet is the only new regular that springs to mind and he's too weedy to play many roles. The remainers are aging out. They mostly banned hero type actors for 10 odd years so there's less than a handful left and only remain because they're too big to ignore i.e. Reynolds. Cavill's still young enough but never gets a go. Pascal toes the line and says exactly what they want him to so who are they left with? (Even he's getting on)

At this point we can all agree that most of the "original" ideas and concepts actually have been pretty well explored. The problem is that there are still so many recipes for success if you can just simply have a solid story with good writing you can still pull off one hell of a story to show on the screen. But everything is being forsaken in spite of the fans/audience and in full favor of the "agenda". The concepts and ideas are now just "put a chic in it and make her ghey, and lame".
We all knew the slippery slope was actually just a cliff for people to jump off of. We reap what we sow.

It's apparent that the counter to cancel culture is that when it comes for you, you always double and triple down, and the one thing you never do under any circumstances is to make a formal apology of any kind whatsoever. You take their gripes and turn them into more memes and more content for yourself. Think about guys like Joe Rogan, Bill Burr, Jordan Peterson, Patrice O'neal...etc. Cancel culture came at them and they spit in its face. And in the end, they maintained their original audience and picked up a few more members along the way. The ones that left or never hopped the fence were never welcome to begin with, so nothing was ever missed.

I was discussing this with my daughter last night. In the 80's and 90's creativity in movies and especially youth movies was flourishing. Same with cartoons, which grew up in this era. 25, 30 years later what has Hollywood or the mainstream media created? Absolutely nothing. They are so desperate to hang on to their little dragon piles of gold that they will make x10 remakes, gender/race swap old IP and attack anyone who says they suck. Well, you suck and you're fooling nobody. Hollywood? What is is good for? Absolutely nothing.

When the rap music came on in the trailer, I lost all faith that it was gonna be good.

The setting in this kind of movie only needs an orchestra behind it for a soundtrack. A solid orchestral soundtrack can emphasize the lows, mids, and highs as they are needed for the kind of story this is supposed to be. They are trying too hard. As the old saying goes, by trying to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one.

I'm sure the "spectacle" portion of the movie will be entertaining. The actual story will likely be contrived and not make a whole lot of sense in the end. Meaning that yes, it may well be a consumable product with a mixed bag result. If the action scenes are plentiful and well done, it might be enough to distract from just how bad the actual story is. So, we'll have to watch it to find out.

A major reason why Gladiator worked was because as of the first second Maximus oozed respect. You see someone who is respected yet humble. You care for him even though he is a general. And then all this injustice that is done to him. You really stand by him. I'm convinced that this movie will lack this kind of emotion that it brings to the audience.

I hit dislike as soon as the rap music came on didn't even see nerdrotic response before then, the first movie trailer for gladiator 1 used hans zimmer score, one of the best film score composers and my favorite. I'm big on film scores and trailer music this trailer was crap. If you guys want to learn more about film music and how important it is for trailers and movies recommend the hans zimmer documentary whoever made this trailer is not skilled in making trailers at all , and revealed the whole movie even showing the bad guy get killed at the end, and the outcome of the rhino battle.
Also hans zimmer is not returning to compose this film which says a lot in itself. Hans Zimmer recent master piece was for dune 2 , he composes for good movies and was actually a dune fan. Just with that I'm betting hans zimmer doesn't like this movie and declined to do the music.
The panoramic of Rome & the Colosseum, everything looks cool, then the music begins...

When I saw the trailer I couldn't stop thinking to myself on why this was made, it looks good and that's about it, there's no septimus Severus they got his sons wrong, and there was never any black emperors of Rome except maybe one and I think and that's debatable .

Warhammer 40k fan edits, it either has to be something gothic/operatic/haunting or just Heavy metal, and even that is limited in its sub genres that are fitting, like emo stuff wont fly, but Power Metal and such do work.
Also Sabaton are excellent for war themed songs, but no way are they doing a soundtrack to Barbie 2
What’s funny is I watched Gary and a bunch of the guys react to the trailer. They were all positive. All all of them said they were gonna go see the movie. The only thing they didn’t like was the music choice.
How TF do you make a sequel for The Gladiator?? It had the epic beginning war, the betrayal and great revenge plot, the engaging "slave standing up against the emperor" angle was great, and it had the most satisfying (the feels!) ending ever. It's a completely unnecessary sequel made by someone set on destroying his earlier work, the actor playing the main character looks as exciting as vanilla ice cream and the cRap music is completely out of place.
A lot of the time, if someone gets a lead role in a film like this, they're an up-and-comer with serious talent. Even if they flop in a film like this, they could come back with another hit later on.

im gonna skip it, what made the og movie great was it followed the career of one guy, im sure this is the typical modern crap with no main character but several with a little story for each of them and they come together in the end in a stupid way. this is a sequel no one really wanted.

A few Ridley Scott trailers have jarring contemporary music, but you don't put that stuff in your first trailer. The first Gladiator teaser had freaking "Anvil of Crom" by Basil Poledouris.
It's even smothered with 'Black rap' type music... WTF? The original had ethereal and classical music that ACTUALLY gave a real FEEL to the film... G2... UTTER SH!TE...

My issue with Denzel is the accent. Sure, these people didn't have English accents, but it really stands out.
