There was a day I had booked a room to sleep, so I filled up my truck at pilot around 6 miles away from my hotel. I decided to park for few minutes and mess around with my phone a bit then proceed. Good stuff my dispatch company uses 5 load boards for box trucks can’t survive without a plethora of resources including relationships with brokers. My trucks average about 20k gross for 4.5 days home every Friday.

Many of us factor food, Misc items, permits, money aside from taxes, our own pay for the month. Tough to net over 50% with all true expenses. I believe that's where the difference is. Also, do you know your average cost per mile is to operate? Good information to have on deck boss.
I agree with adding permits and other business related items. I think food should be kept separate on his personal budget. Only count as an expense what you would normally be paying a driver for. If you’re going to pay your driver for food, hotel, etc then yeah.
Correct. I would give a "per diem" to my driver for food as its not like he can regularly cook a meal for lunch daily. So would like to make driver more comfortable and safe about food. But I'm small time, its just me on the road and I don't want to expand. This is my 2 year plan to save money for future endeavor.
