I can't believe you are renting & got a hotel for 5 days and turned a profit. I always hear that it's not possible. You have made my day. Im going to be starting up sooner than I thought. Also can you do a video on loading & strapping? You should offer a class in ATL on how to load & strap. I would definitely pay for that. I think that may be my only issue starting up. Look for a box truck sleeper.
A DOT fine for improper rest is expensive.
They'll literally ask for a hotel receipt from the night before so stay DOT compliant with your own sleeper and save that hotel money for vacations.

Where can you park one of those when not on duty? Most people don't have enough space where they live.

Atlanta. CDL is great and more profitable with more expenses and headaches. But this biz you don't need a CDL

YES - sleeping in your day cab during your 10hr break isn't kind of illegal, it IS illegal. DOT/FMSCA rules are LAW. Fines for HOS violations are $1000 to $16000 PER event. So ONE fine can wipe out your profits for the load you're on, vs a $50-80 hotel room..... Plus you can be placed out of service on the spot by DOT until the violation is corrected. That means you just blew either your pick up or the drop time for the load you're on. Additionally, multiple violations will effect your CSA score with the FMSCA, which could trigger an audit. This means that they can go back and find violations over multiple months, which could get you shut down completely or end up with thousands of dollars in fines. The thing to keep in mind is that with your own authority, you are no longer treated as just a driver, you ARE a company with all of the good and bad that entails.

Thanks for that comment, your 100% right. Violations are not to be taken lightly.

No it’s NOT illegal as long as you log it OFF DUTY. You can use sleeper birth on your logging device. I use to do HOT SHOT and a DOT man in Pennsylvania told me as long as I log OFF DUTY and I use 10 hours consecutively it’s perfect legal to sleep anywhere during that time. He told me all these things because I had showed logging Sleeper birth and after measuring the inside of my GMC SIERRA DENALI he told me these things and let me go!!!

You can sleep anywhere you want when off duty for 10 hrs except the front seat. Get a sleeping bag and sleep on the hood if you want. The dot can not legally tell you where to lay down.
