@@vickiegreen7223 the TWIC card allows you to get into Ports and stuff so say for instance you had a delivery at the airport. You don’t have to do all that extra security. You’ll show them your card. I only seen one load so far that said TWIC card required.

@Andre Lewis I’d say not easier but with your VOSB (Veteran Owned Small Business ) certification it will open you up to opportunities for set aside minority based contracts. I would definitely encourage getting certified hit up your local PTAC (Procurement Technical Assistance Center) in your area.

I'd look into the needs of the procurement office for Norfolk, Little Creek, and other military bases in Virginia. Get your TWIC card too. They'll need weekly deliveries for everything from Food to supplies. A refrigerated box truck pays more and you can also do dryvan loads with it.

The way you get loads from the government is by then placing bids on your truck which means you would have to pay $600 for marketing. It’s a local office downtown too I believe . Or go on Sam.gov and type in your zip and it’ll take you took the one in your area and it’s FREE HELP

Hello! I wasn’t doing them just providing the information that I can across. The process doesn’t ask for your DOT number so you should be able to apply. I’m not sure if the business has to be opened for a certain amount of time before you can actually apply. I heard 2 years but I still applied and my business is a year old

@@rammokid1 you shouldn't need a eld to drive home. However if so the eld has a (personal use) setting for when your taking your vehicle to be serviced or jusy running errands pertaining to the truck... hope that helps
You can just apply with Navy Federal to see if you can get financed. They don’t base things 100% off your credit score. They factor other things in it. I say if you have an account with them GO FOR IT AND GOOD LUCK!
The Texas SBA minority owned business certification application fee is $995…. My goodness… is the fee normally that high for this type of application? I’m 100% of Asian/Chinese decent and my husband is full Hispanic/Mestizo-so I most definitely know we qualify, but I’m really shocked with the application fee. Is there another way to go about this?

I didn’t get any contracts yet. I’m just going thru the process myself. Soon as I get approved with the sam.gov I’ll let you know. I do know that it’s people who can assist with the entire process if you search it on the sba site.
Getting contracts is a slog. But it’s worth it. I’ve had a government contract approximately 15 years ago. It’s a bit more difficult now. But I’m back at it now for my trucking company.

If all your paperwork is submitted you should hear something back in 30 days but they mean EVERYTHING THING can’t miss one line , one dot or nothing . I’ve had to redo it now twice because I’ve missed something so small.

It’s ok, and yes the brokers are the companies like CH Robinson, TQL, DAT Load board you can find some but I’ve been doing great with CH Robinson. You contact them and they’ll send you a carrier packet information .

Authority is like registration to legally run your commercial vehicle under FMCSA regulations. US DOT number is what’ll make your authority active.

I don’t… I’m sorry. Call your local office and see what that means. It seems like they should redirect you if that system is retired.

I got my twic card Get your B class CDL before February of next year they will be changing a lot of things
How long did it take you to get the TWIC like the process? And I am looking into getting my CDL ASAP.

You can just apply with Navy Federal to see if you can get financed. They don’t base things 100% off your credit score. They factor other things in it. I say if you have an account with them GO FOR IT AND GOOD LUCK!

The Texas SBA minority owned business certification application fee is $995…. My goodness… is the fee normally that high for this type of application? I’m 100% of Asian/Chinese decent and my husband is full Hispanic/Mestizo-so I most definitely know we qualify, but I’m really shocked with the application fee. Is there another way to go about this?

I didn’t get any contracts yet. I’m just going thru the process myself. Soon as I get approved with the sam.gov I’ll let you know. I do know that it’s people who can assist with the entire process if you search it on the sba site.

Getting contracts is a slog. But it’s worth it. I’ve had a government contract approximately 15 years ago. It’s a bit more difficult now. But I’m back at it now for my trucking company.
Yes it is worth it and now they require soooo much paperwork. Def worth it

@@juges2 I haven’t gotten a contract yet. From my understanding it’s not a lot of regulations. It’s just getting in there! It’s a lot of paperwork… ALOT!

If all your paperwork is submitted you should hear something back in 30 days but they mean EVERYTHING THING can’t miss one line , one dot or nothing . I’ve had to redo it now twice because I’ve missed something so small.

Good morning, I don’t use a dispatcher but you can find one easy if you have Facebook (I don’t). I know it’s a lot on there in different groups or you can google search. Which paperwork? Insurance, DOT Medical Card? UCR , BOC3 , MCS150

Inside the carrier packet will be the W9 form but you won’t complete them until you either get a dispatcher or reach out to brokers yourself.

It’s ok, and yes the brokers are the companies like CH Robinson, TQL, DAT Load board you can find some but I’ve been doing great with CH Robinson. You contact them and they’ll send you a carrier packet information .
