What Lingenfelter did with the Corvettes back in the day was unreal. Hennessey wasn't even a twinkle in the imagination when you guys were building monster turbo vettes.

There was never a Mercury Racing 2 stroke that was rated at 400hp or anything close to 11k rpm. It's interesting to see how the internal combustion engine has evolved and adapted to serve the very different needs of automobiles, airplanes, boats and motorcycles. Outboards are so extreme, since they need to produce maximum power for the very limited size and space available, much like motorcycle engines, or racing engines of all kinds. Growing up around boats, I never realized what absolute beasts hid beneath those covers!
Evinrude 2 stroke boat engines are by far the best made period! I would love to see all of the Evinrude boat engines with the MSRP as I would love to own 1 or 2 of them in the future.

Constructive criticism , I like the old layout for info being displayed on the right of the screen as I have been watching you for so long. The new screens aren't as easy to read and go away too quickly
You hit on a basic fact of marine design. For a displacement hull, the hull design is a limiting factor in the top speed of the vessel. Adding more power merely pushes the rear of the vessel deeper into the water and effectively does not increase speed. Planing designs are different,of course.

He was one of the few people in New Zealand who knew the calculations for the optimal engine power for a given hull design. However as mentioned above Ferrari tried two-stroke diesel style of gasoline motor in the past and i do believe someone made a similar one but with rotary valves in the head instead of poppet valves. I think it was mclaren but i could be wrong
I get sad about what happened to OMC! Recreational outboard wise they were the best of the best for over 40 years then the boardroom made a silly decision with going FICHT! I still run a V4 115hp johnson 2000 model on my haines hunter then a 1998 50hp tiller steer ervinrude on my stessyl edge tracker tinnie then a 6hp 1996 Johnson on a 2.7mtr dehaviiland then a 1998 6hp evinrude on a 3.6.mtr stessyl tinnie OMC 2 strokes as long as I can thanks for posting this gold!

The race version of that evinrude 300 v8 made around 450 hp at over 9000rpm, it still holds the outboard speed record today
Land and Sea made a turbo kit for them that made 800 hp.

My dads 7 Marine engines are based of the Chevrolet LSA engine. It’s just been “marined” essentially. 627 HP. His boat has 4 of them.

No, because the crankcase is a vital part of the 2-stroke cycle.
Unless there's a forced induction gasoline 2 stroke with an oil sump I don't think it would be possible.

Coolest engine iv heard was Honda 250hp. Very silent, ran smooth, to smooth. It knew it was a v8, so had no need to brag about it. 😄
