That 2 stroke v8 is just crazy and imagine that we put that 2 stroke v8 on a rally car, it would be awesome

Oh, please! A *four-stroke, small-block and fuel-injected V8* is a better choice for an *outboard engine* on a certain boat.
@@josecarrilloii4036 yeah, but the chear crazy feeling which 2 stroke provide are on another level and 4 stroke v8 can't provide that, it's not just about going from point A to point B, it's about feeling, enjoyment and craziness

Boat engines are confusing
Try working on them, i worked on boats for years, the engine variants are crazy and when you are working On 6 different engines at the same time it can get quite overwealming.

i hate to see engines slotted down like and covered from its beauty on an outboard configuration
@@MyFabian94 they only have lititation for the oil useage as i know. They put the exhaust into the water and the leftover fuel-oil going into the water. And to be honest, its not so good.
@@DaBombtasi modern two strokes are efficient enough that the unburnt oil/fuel is negligible.

Most of these are not two stroke. Check out Seven Marine outboards.
The Evinrude V8 still holds the record for the fastest outboard ever, 176.5 mph set in 1989. check out the video.

I have a few examples I'd like to have seen here, Konig 500cc & 700cc Hydroplane outboard, Crescent outboard and maybe the Mercury Optimax 200sx but you did nail one of my all time favourites, the Evinrude / Johnson v8.

I remember that a friend had an inline 6 cylinder 2-stroke Mercury 100 h.p. outboard motor on his ski boat and it was a great engine. That thing ran a long time and was so much fun.

My grandpa had a 2-stroke Yamaha outboard engine that one of my uncles took and couldn’t get running. I’m trying to get my hands on it as I have rebuilt hundreds of 2 strokes and could probably diagnose it in 5 minutes.

Nothing can replace the 2 strokes. The 4 stroke outboards serve no functional advantage other than pleasing tree huggers and weighing down transoms.

Visio, I think you have confused what 'outboard' means. An 'outboard' engine means it's mounted outside the hull. In this case the 4 rotor and the OM606 are mounted as 'inboard' engines, cause they are inside the hull.

Read it again, it's fine but if you notice he means to say the OM606 is not meant to be an outboard from the factory, implying it's being used as an outboard.

Greg Dunn we have one on a Checkmate at the lake house, runs well. I prefer the 4.0 V8 on my Starflite here in AZ.

One of our friends had a Stoker twin tunnel hull boat with that Evinrude V8 outboard. Like the guy in the video, my friend had opened up that plate above the prop. Many a time I had been out in that boat, and I can still recall that banshee wail that outboard made.
I currently own the tunnel boat with the v8 that v8 was on one of my dads boats we have since swapped it with a like new v8 Johnson very similar engines just this one is not ported like the one in the video 😁

Quincy Welding at 4:00 has been building hydroplane racing outboard engines and controls since 1952. Inspired by Mercury Outboards, they take Mercury engineering to a whole new level of outboard racing engine performance. ;-)

I know someone who has a mini yacht, that uses 5 motors. They each kick in sequentially depending on throttle input. It's pretty cool actually, cause for low speed cruising only the center one is pushing the boat; but as more power is needed, the propellors centrifugal clutch engages on the other 4, creating a smooth transition from around 20mph (~32kph) to around 60 (~96kph).
All 5 are running simultaneously, but they all come in during certain load conditions where they provide an extra boost of power.

Word of advice: Boat and Bus motors crank the opposite direction (i.e. a pusher bus motor will make a front engine dump truck go forward while in reverse and backwards while in forward gears)

I always imagine a small go cart like race car, with a 2-stroke v8, would probably be so much fun to drive, even if it wasn't very fast.
In the late-60s, the world speed record for outboard-powered boating was set with a custom-built supercharged 6-cyl. "boxer" 2-stroke, which was mounted with it's crankshaft in the vertical position.
